I didn’t even get past the mid point of the story, game’s too boring and the loading screens are too ass.

Dragon Age:Failguard. They made it too easy.

I never played Hi-Fi rush, Redfall, Mighty Doom, or The Evil Within. That said it looks like Tango hit their sales and quality strides. Alpha Dog and their Mighty Doom shit-ware deserves the dust bin and closure.

As cold and callous as this all sounds, I read about the Redfall development and it was leadership start to finish on that disaster. The employees, even at Alpha Dog, don’t deserve this treatment. Dinga Bakaba from Arkane Lyon stated it perfectly

Don’t throw us into gold fever gambits, don’t use us as strawmen for miscalculations/blind spots, don’t make our work environments darwinist jungles. You say we make you proud when we make a good game. Make us proud when times are tough. We know you can, we seen it before.

Fuck me, this part hurts the most, and I highly recommend anyone who didn’t read the article at least look at what was said here. Everyone knows damn well that the corporation has the ability to flourish in keeping all the talented workers who got fucked by shitty leadership, instead the leadership will fail upward and keep ruining projects. Companies have so many chances to really disrupt and show the world a better way and they continually take shallow short sighted routes to cheap monetary victory, discarding humanity along the way. Fuck companies.

Underrated comment honestly. That’s nailed on the head, greed drove billions in investments to compete for whales and now it looks like a wasteland…compounded by the fact that the whales were always unsustainable users in the first place. Sometimes rich people were whales but the majority of the time they were users who didn’t have a pot to piss in, in the first place.

For those who will be leaving SIE: You are leaving this company with our deepest respect and appreciation for all your efforts during your tenure.

Now get the fuck outta here, you’re fired.

Shadywack,

Also, you really can’t trust anything that comes out of Phil Spencer’s mouth.

That’s really not a Phil Spencer thing, and more of a “You can tell any executive is lying, because their lips are moving” thing.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, and it went something like “Hay, I am TEH KING” Ghost dudes be like “lolwut? Fuq, die bitch” Aragorn blocks attack with Anduril “Oh shit, lmao, sorry, we gotchu bruh”

THEN he was teh kang.

Satoru Iwata said they don’t do layoffs, he even took pay cuts to attempt to balance their budgets and keep people on…then he died in 2015. Now Nintendo’s credibility is in the toilet with the rest. The mistake you’re making is trusting a company with shareholders, you really need to learn how this works…executives of publicly traded companies=fucking liars.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

I think you just nailed it, this is exactly why.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Well with the PS5 having double the storage bandwidth, we’ll see slightly less loading. Enter ship, loading screen. Land on planet, loading screen, etc.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Good riddance to that fucking scumbag.

Shadywack,

They could have also put in an “days of player disappointment” metric to go along with the rest. What a shit game.

God of War Creator Is Unhappy With New Games and Kratos' Story (comicbook.com) angielski

Despite being nominated for numerous awards and even winning Game of the Year in 2018, the creator of God of War, David Jaffe, is not a huge fan of the new direction the series has gone in. Jaffe himself hasn't worked on these new God of War games, but thinks that they're not staying true to the spirit of the character and the...

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

As someone who has played from the beginning, and seen the entire storyline unfold through the multiple directors, I was so disappointed…in nothing absolutely at all whatsoever about the new games.

I thought it was really cool how they stitched the story back to GoW3 and developed the new character so thoughtfully. Christopher Judge seemed to take the character much further while adding depth, and being thoughtful too.

If Jaffe doesn’t like that Kratos isn’t a mindless rage machine, different strokes I guess. He’s definitely in the minority and I think every subsequent game director did an overall better job than he did in GoW 1. *shrug

Until Bungie gives me back the content I already paid for, that company can rot in hell. I feel for the devs who point stuff out to leadership and tell them exactly what they need to do to fix their reputation, but the leadership saying “player’s still love us” means that piece of shit scumbag, Pete Parsons, can go get dry fucked by splintering balsa wood.

I won’t play the Legacy Collection, not even when it’s free. Fuck you, Bung-hole.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

I should only hope so.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

I was really hoping the headline just said “Rovio to close down”. Oh well.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

NPR, huh, doing a better job of breaking down a criterion collection type list than any of the journo blogs/sites I’ve ever seen.

They’re surprisingly tasteful too, and they highlighted some real gems from the indie devs. I really hope they do more of this stuff, they’re real good at it.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Well if you go by sales figures, predatory monetization targeting whales that only represent 2% of the player base indicates that the absolute best products in the market today are what would have been made illegal 60 years ago in most states. Yay for capitalism that destroys our world, souls, and future.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Looks like some c-level dweeb or scab sympathizer downvoted your comment. I couldn’t agree more with your assessment. Bungie leadership is pretty much miserable assholes these days. It sucks for the developers who do the actual work and are trying to tell leadership what will actually fix the company. They don’t deserve any of the frustrations from any of the player base, but the executives can fuck themselves with splintered balsa wood for all I care.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

So many people framed Activision as the bad guy, when we are seeing that they actually staved off some idiotic decisions on Bungie’s part. I have a feeling that while the layoffs are awful, I look at other studios run by Sony and can’t help but wonder if the real issue was just at the local management level, and Sony’s intervention is maybe needed to save Bungie from itself. Pete Parsons is a piece of shit fuckhead.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Wrath of the Machine, VoG, King’s Fall…even if you didn’t raid, the strikes playlists were a lot of fun.

Rise of Iron and the light level catch up activity with the Archon’s Forge was fantastic and made the game a whole lot more fun.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s absurd how locked down their stuff is, but I’m not aware of prison time for opening up consoles yet. You can get sued, like Sony vs Hotz, and get ordered to pay some outrageous restitution, but that road ends in bankruptcy, not prison. Still complete bullshit that they can bankrupt a person, but there’s no prison…yet.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

This article is fucking stupid and misinforms.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

First off it’s confusing as hell where they try to paraphrase or summarize for what Valve already said plainly if you bypass this blogspam article and just go to their support page where they spell everything out neatly that any 32-bit games will remain in your library and accessible, albeit that your OS may not place nice. This article almost makes it as if they’re removing stuff from your library, which Valve clearly says they’re not doing. The summary AI bot would do a better job sourcing the Valve blog update than this writer did.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not confused at all, timelines are forever moving goalposts, and each major “milestone” is really just a tech demo addition with no cohesive product. You can walk around spaceships, get auto generated quests, or get in some pvp where the person who bought the best ship wins.

The underlying promises have been continually missed with constant deflection that amounts to “hey look at this shiny thing we just did”.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Technically true, you can play the current build of a game that’s been in perpetual development with distractive milestones continually added so as to distract you from the promises made in years past.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

That’s really well said and an underrated comment here. In a sane world, Unity would “make a living” just fine. Another user commented on where they spent their margins, and my bet is that it’s on bullshit. Executive compensation should be first to get slashed, and if anything they should concentrate on keeping the “golden goose” or core development team alive.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

The best games more often have the best soundtracks. That taste for great audio ends up permeating the thoughtfulness of the rest of the game. If Stardew didn’t have good music it would’ve died on the vine.

Everyone remembers when they first played, and that catchy optimistic springtime song is playing, and then the hooks just set in.

John Riccitiello is stepping down as CEO and president of Unity (investors.unity.com) angielski

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Unity (NYSE: U) (the “Company”), the world’s leading platform for creating and growing real-time 3D (RT3D) content, today announced that John Riccitiello will retire as President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and a member of the Company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately....

@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

This fuckhead reminds me a lot of Phil Harrison, or several other high profile execs. They go around, middling performance and wordsmithing to do fundraising rounds. By all metrics they don’t do anything noteworthy except they get to be the one who lands in leadership roles at established companies, they siphon some salary and stock options for a while and hold lots of unproductive meetings internally while doing some hand wavey shit.

Zero accountability, pipedream visions that don’t materialize, and then they leave to go fuck something else up.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

It’s also a lack of specialized talent. There’s lots of great “talent” at game devs and even middleware devs. There’s just not much great talent that deals with renderers and API development. The vast majority of devs just lean on the middleware developer to push out the renderer codebase. In a situation like Bethesda running their own studio engine, they just don’t have the right people for it. This plagued the 90’s when people were trying to code for Glide, OGL, DX5,6,7,8, and 9. Many studios folded because they couldn’t get their tech to work with hardware acceleration.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Excellent point.

Shadywack,
@Shadywack@lemmy.world avatar

Same here, I literally paid for Red War. That was a full campaign, and I want to be able to play it along with every location that was included. DCV was a big fat giant middle finger stuck right in my face, and I don’t care how cheap future expansions or season passes get. I want everything I paid money for back, in addition to access to all the new shit.

Until they do that, not another cent. I won’t even play the game until that stuff is back, even if new content is free.
