I love the look of this game and am all up for some 16-bit nostalgia after starting the year with Chained Echos, but releasing so close to Starfield seems like a death sentence for this game. Fingers crossed the visibility on both sub services keeps people interested once they’re done exploring the galaxy.
Some people are just wildly anti streaming gaming, maybe they’ve got internet that isn’t fit for it or maybe they’re extremely sensitive to fidelity, but they exist. Personally, I use game pass streaming on my steam deck quite a bit and it’s a good experience.
Is anyone else finding themselves less excited for a GTA now that the Housers have both left Rockstar? I really worry the over the top satire of American culture by Scottish writers may be lost.
Nah, games should be fun and stressing over what happens behind the scenes distracts from that. Do I know Acti-Blizz have major issues, yes, does it stop Diablo 4 being fun, nope.
FFs 1-5 were fairly generic DnD style worlds. It wasn’t until 6 that the cyberpunk/fantasy mix came in then I’d argue 8 was the first one where some of the designs in the world looked very Japanese.
Didn’t stop them putting out a HDMI Mini PSX. You get around that by cleaver pixel replication and filtering upressing, etc. The PS3 PS1 emulator actually had options for this.
PS2 games work almost flawlessly on my steam deck under emulation and the PS5 is more powerful than that, and Sony have access to the OG system engineers, software and hardware to work from, note they already had PS2 games working on the PS4. The PS3 is the tricky but people do have it working on PC so no reason Sony couldn’t. There’s no excuse not to have PS1, PSP or PSVita emulation games as they’re all easy
Depends on your tastes doesn’t it. I’ll take a hundred smaller projects like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush or Psychonauts over another generic open world adventure or sad dad simulator.
The gaming press had a pretty strong dislike for Japanese games all together for a bit bar Nintendo titles. Thats why we ended up with that rough era where companies like Capcom were trying to make more western styled titles.
Lots of hobbies or industries have terms that are a bit off but accepted by everyone in the know as institutional knowledge. It’s no surprise gaming is the same and it’s unlikely to change 50 odd years in.
Oh, I totally feel you on that stuff. It is nice that the OG rights holders get a bag for licensing to them, Antstream also seems good for this. And I accept that all my ROMs and disc images are illegal.
The reason I stick with emulation is that the retro bug comes and goes with me. I’ll have the urge to play some Mega Drive, N64, Playstation Games for a night. Then I’m done for a month and back to playing new titles.
I didn’t realise how many carts were now out for the Evercade. Personally I’m happy with emulating on my Steam Deck, but fair play to them for making this work in this age.
