For people unfamiliar with their games: Their first one “Gravity Bone” is free on steam. It is super short and almost 20 years old, but it shows off their style and humor very well. Loved their games ever since.

Probably Mario 64, just because it was so revolutionary at the time.

Since the Wolfenstein games were already mentioned: The Saboteur

It aged quite a bit, but there are some nice mods to make it look and handle a bit better on Nexus Mods.

Tactical Breach Wizards

It is similar to Into the Breach in some ways.

I have a lot more hours on Counter-Strike Source than that, but that was before Steam started counting hours. I also played a ton of Sims 2 and 3.

Last time I played CSS was in 2018, so I can’t really answer that. But according to SteamDB there are currently 11000 players.

Suggestions? Games that won't make me feel alone?

I need some suggestions on what to play. Single Player games only. Most of the games make me feel lonely and alone. In most of the games, the protagonist has to deal with the problems on their own, like Control, Crysis, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War (I liked the original 6 more than the new ones, even though the new ones had...

“Binary Domain” is an option. You are almost all the time accompanied by 1-3 NPCs of your Team. The game also has a, more or less working, voice System to talk to your team through your microphone. That way you can give orders and have some small talk. The game is quite good, give it a try.

True, but I think that the microphone communication that Binary Domain offers is a unique feature that OP will appreciate.

Doom 1 and, to some extent, 2. Honestly.

I know exactly what you are looking for and the classic Doom games are perfect for this, because they are simple, yet they still feel good to play.

Not too fast, not too slow. No jump scares, only some light puzzles if you want to hunt secrets. There is almost a rhythm to the combat, especially if you play with the shotgun. Try them.

What happened to the turn based RPG and RTS genres?

I remember fondly the days of playing Heroes of Might and Magic II, never played HOMM3 or anything after, but as I looked at the latest and most “recent” heroes games… they’re all rated/reviewed SO harshly. Apparently, they never gained steam like the earlier titles. RTS seems to have the same issue, tapering off....

Take a look at the Sniper Elite series. It’s third-person and plays a lot slower than a COD game, but it is full co-op and takes place in WW2. The newer entries also look pretty nice.

Well, it is somewhat viable. The game just becomes very difficult if you do that.

Beyond Shadowgate, the sequel to the console version of Shadowgate, launches on Sept 19th! (www.zojoi.com)

The original design of the never-before seen point and click adventure is being brought to life after 30+ years in the vault – Beyond Shadowgate! The game is being created by the designers of the original 8-bit hit Shadowgate and a leading 8-bit adventure studio! With a story that is over four times larger than Shadowgate,...

Really excited for this and the Broken Sword Remaster that comes out on the same day. Shadowgate was my gateway to learning English. I sat in front of my NES with a dictionary when I was like 10 or 11 years old. Even managed to beat the game that way.

UPDATE: Here is the final design of the Humorless Toaster, that this wonderful community helped me pick yesterday! (Needless to say one of the previous versions was unintentionally problematic) (lemmy.world)
