ILikeBoobies,

I just hope Steam can be broken up

Make the workshop and community their own company

ILikeBoobies,

Welcome to humanity

ILikeBoobies,

It’s very difficult to draw the line between lying and someone being mistaken

A politician can want to do X then learn it’s impossible

A game can promise X then run out of money before accomplishing it

ILikeBoobies,

You don’t have to pay for Unity/Unreal either

I’d recommend just using mod tools if you are looking to play around because it covers a lot of the work

ILikeBoobies,

That puts it at “at least” 15 years after the last entry in the series

Hard to imagine it will have much of a fan base

ILikeBoobies,

I would have attributed it’s success to the success of Divinity and DnD

ILikeBoobies,

They are trying to make a power play against these companies to strike out a deal due to their market share

A problem I see with it is that games that push console sales are made on Unreal (or internal engine) not Unity

However the amount of negative press is overblown as they are starting far in order to give things up during negotiations. And despite saying it’s only charged on first install; I’ve seen people claim it will bankrupt devs

I support devs switching from Unity to Godot but I feel like in a year’s time it won’t really matter as people are more likely to get hired for Unity

ILikeBoobies,

axios.com/…/unity-runtime-fee-policy-marc-whitten

Whitten told Axios that the company would actually only charge for an initial installation.

Unity’s free tier of development services would owe Unity $0.20 per installation once their game hit thresholds of 200,000 downloads and earn $200,000 in revenue.

With pro plans having lower fees and a higher threshold, the majority of devs aren’t going to feel this

ILikeBoobies,

Seems weird with how friendly Unreal and Godots deals are

You’d think they would be competing with that

ILikeBoobies,

Lenovo already has good Linux support, why would they need to use SteamOS?

ILikeBoobies,

Hi-rez has always been known for making a good product than ruining it. 8 years later in Paladins and they still haven’t reverted cb12

ILikeBoobies,

Unless it’s an expansion to rdr 2 that I can access in the post-game with some filler missions to tie the two together then I’m not interested

ILikeBoobies,

It can have a different distro, as long as it’s Linux then it’s a viable product

ILikeBoobies,

After Redfall I am really not looking forward to games from this publisher

ILikeBoobies,

It hasn’t come out yet so there is nothing positive to say

ILikeBoobies,

Also the level editor isn’t super complex so it can be used as a Mario maker alternative

ILikeBoobies,

What drama? Some random footnotes in an .nfo file? How does it effect you at all?

ILikeBoobies,

GOG but I don’t because despite my 12 game library, I can’t gift because none of the games were over $15 and if I buy a game over that then it’s a 3 month waiting period

I like Steam’s Linux push but I don’t like their support and I don’t like their monopoly

Steam Deck VS rivals

I was interested in buying a Steam Deck… Until I discovered all the (apparently) better alternatives. Asus Rog Ally, OneXPlayer, Aya Neo etc… I like the idea of an handheld console and obviously I would like to have a device that can run almost everything, so the Windows based handhelds seem better than the Steam Deck. Is it...

ILikeBoobies,

You can run Heroic on the steam deck to play Epic

Ally is worse than the steam deck in everything unless it’s plugged in and you’re using a keyboard and mouse, at that point you should get a laptop

Emulators also have no issue

The res is lower so it can play higher demanding games, necessary res scales with screen size, a 1 cm screen doesn’t matter if it’s 10 pixels or 10 million but a 200 cm screen you’d want the 10 million

Rivals might compete but they aren’t big enough to handle volume (you might be waiting a long time)

Also Linux is better than Windows
