Deestan, do games w Games that force you to make hard choices

Terra Invicta may be too high-level for the emotional impact, but it could fit. You are playing on the geopolitical stage, preventing (or steering) an exctinction-level war between humans and aliens. Stage a coup to overthrow a democratically elected government, make it as corrupt as possible to drive it to poverty so that the faction that wants to surrender to the aliens can’t win the space race?

The Last Federation where you play as the last member of an alien race that everyone tried to destroy, and your last act is to prevent them all from killing each other. Maybe you will harass them all to make them ally against you and become friends? Maybe convince 4 of them to gang up on the 5th?

That game was something!

It was a bit too painful to play for me to finish it, so I had to look up discussions and videos on it.

That’s not a complaint. “LISA the painful” did its job perfectly. I just didn’t have the stamina to handle it at the time.

Took a break from Factorio (SE+K2 mod) to play some vanilla Factorio.

Oh and Against the Storm! The distilled “just the interesting bit” citybuilder with a metaprogression frame. That game can not be praised enough.

Going by reviews, this looks pretty good! Especially for being free.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - coop, a bit actiony but less chaotic than Overcooked. Beautiful and cute artstyle.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few people wondering why the visuals were a bit dull and wondering if was the remains of The Escapist finishing them up to push them out and being lazy about it.

But it does by all accounts look like this was edited before the implosion, as they had literally zero employees left of the video team, including everyone who did video editing. The videos were all finished and uploaded to YouTube, just awaiting someone click the “publish” button.

Picked up The Messenger for another run. Since I got 100% achievements last time I thought it would be a breeze this time. Nope. 214 deaths so far.

Deestan, do games w Have you tried Sea of Stars?

Yes! Loved it. Made me go back and replay The Messenger. They have a few little crossovers that were fun to discover.

Deestan, do games w 'This is only the beginning': Metal Gear Solid fans lose their minds as David Hayter returns to voice Solid Snake in a new teaser

Kojima, the driving force of Metal Gear is gone. What is left is a corporate committee who through focus testing and guesswork try to keep the franchise on the road roughly in the same direction it has been going and avoid crashing into stuff.

They will make any new version look and feel as much as possible as the previous games, only deviating for committee-approved reasons of monetization, trend chasing, or marketing appeal.

What they will not and can not do is to strap a rocket to the roof of Metal Gear Solid, take a hard right and drive the car off the road and into the hills and launch it over Mount Everest. They don’t have the will, the auteur ability, or the trust of the fanbase.

Kojima could do that, which is what made the franchise what it is today.

MGS is dead, but Konami owns the pelt. What comes out next is just taxidermy with animatronics.
