CptEnder,

LMAO that guy really just use Halo to compare gameplay??? Also he clearly didn’t know about the Break system. “Don’t like turn based or random encounters” my brother in Christ did you not read the box? It’s specifically made for a group of nostalgic gamers who loved Chrono Trigger/FFIII grinds.

The real icing was setting up with modern games’ graphics and completely missing the bg/environment art of OT games are hand painted in the Unreal 5 engine haha.

CptEnder,

Both are on steam as well. Definitely recommend if you love old school, turn based SNES JRPGs but with a dash of modernization in specs/combat. The artwork of the environments are genuinely beautiful. Some of the characters stories are really boring, some are crazy good haha.

Square’s little studio turning out these HD2D games really have knocked it out of the park. Triangle Strategy is like FFT on steroids, hardest mode is really REALLY hard, although a bit grindy (arena training). Bravely Default II is a PS1 sprite version of HD2D ala FFVII with a really rich stats/specing. The CEO of Square hinted a Chrono Trigger HD2D remake is in the works too.

CptEnder,

racks shotgun the doctor will see you now

CptEnder,

Ah yeah Arma had an entire expansion on this theme. Press, Red Cross, and civilian playable models. It’s actually a pretty cool concept.

CptEnder,

Also they made it open source to work on PlayStation, Switch, and PC. Pretty cash money move by Microsoft.

CptEnder,

Uhoh. Wasn’t there famously a way to accidentally glitch yourself from getting the sword? Like if you do a quest part of order.

CptEnder,

Yeah same. Also the Blue Tunic looked clean af.

CptEnder,

Me too!!! OMG brings back so many memories

CptEnder,

I used gamefaqs for the latest Square HD2D games like Triangle Strategy. It’s actually awesome because it really completes the nostalgia and the games are kinda perfectly created for the type of guides, like the “Golden route” in that game. It’s so cool people still make these guides

CptEnder, (edited )

Back in 97 my older sister got a both babe job at E3 and got extra tickets for me and my mom to take me. This is back when it was strictly a trade conference and not really open to the public. I was waiting in line for a new Gameboy game when a dude overhead me rambling to my mom about the Brady guides I loved to read so much back then (my mom is a patient saint haha) when a dude in line interrupted me and told my mom about his website that had free guides for all the new games online. My mom was pretty excited about free guides and he handed her his card which I looked at eagerly, it was Jeff Veasey, the creator of gamefaqs.com.

I can’t tell you how much of my parents toner i burnt through over the years printing from that website, it was probably cheaper to just buy the guides haha. Still one of my all time favorite sites.

Oh yeah that Gameboy game I was waiting to see was some new Japanese monster game called Pokemon.

CptEnder,

Yeah I’m actually pumped for this game. I secretly hope they’ll have PC steering wheel support so I can disable all my normal range of motion and do the whacky driving like the arcade game haha. Also fine if not, I’d happily play this title on my PS5 too. It’s ok to have minimal expectations for a game even if they don’t have everything you want imo.

Just wanna get some airtime in the San Francisco hills haha.

CptEnder,

Urgh I CAN’T wait! Like literally I don’t want to wait anymore please!

I got tickets for opening night IMAX and the next night at Alamo Drafthouse in one of their smallest theaters. Want to experience the film in 2 different ways. Did that with Pt 1 and it was one of the best movie going experiences I’ve ever had.

CptEnder,

Look I’m a simple man. I just need a Nord battle mommy to make me feel safe.

CptEnder,

Eh. Hopefully this doesn’t include their 2DHD department. Those are probably classified as low budget but are by far and away the best games they make rn.
