CharlesReed, do games w Dead Space 3 producer "would redo it almost completely"

I don't know, I had fun playing it, and I really like the build your own weapon aspect of it. The story definitely needed a rework though. The ending left the whole series on a bit of a sour note imo.

Diablo 4's Season 2 started this week, and I'm having a lot more fun playing with my rogue this round than I did with my druid in Season 1. They made it a lot easier to level up, which is nice. I could have done without the story though. It was super short and the new character Erys was not likeable at all.

CharlesReed, do gaming w What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?

Bit of an older game, but Don't Starve was great at this. At the beginning of a game you could set and customize the entire world/map that you were going to be dropped into, including how little or lot of each and every resource individually (eg, you could have a lot of trees, but few rocks, some carrots, but no berries, etc). IIRC you could also pick the world size, how much the land branched out into 'islands', weather patterns, the day length, stuff like that. It's essentially creating your own difficulty.

CharlesReed, do games w What's the most surprising thing when you look up your username in SteamDB?

There's only 4 games that I've bought that I've paid over $55 for. Over the 10 years I've apparently been on Steam, I would have thought there'd be more in that price range, but I guess I've been pretty good at taking advantage of sales.

CharlesReed, do games w Coming Soon to Game Pass: Cities: Skylines II, Dead Space, Jusant, Mineko’s Night Market, and More - Xbox Wire

The original Dead Space (along with the two sequels and Ignition) is already on Game Pass, so it'd have to be the remake.

Diablo 4 - I finally finished out Season 1 early last week and have been taking a break before Season 2. I technically have two objectives left, but there's no way I was getting to level 100 before the 17th. I'm hoping the new patch for Season 2 fixes that. TBH the only reason I got the last task for all the rewards is because I was invited to a random party to run Nightmare Dungeons. I felt so bad because they were leveled way higher than I was, so I kept dying, but they didn't kick me, and I'm grateful for that. I feel like I'm the only one, but I can't wait to see what they do for Season Two.

Metro: Last Light - I fucking forgot about the catacombs and how much I hate going through them. Fuck Nosalises. Fuck Big Momma. There's always that one level in a great game that absolutely sucks, and that is the catacombs level for me in Last Light. Even though I did do better that I thought I would, I still hate that level. But I got my Kalash 2012 like I wanted, so whatever lol. Also I love Anna. I've always loved Anna, but I fall in love again everytime I play this game. Just like Artyom, I guess. Still haven't finished the game though, since I haven't had a bunch of time to myself over this weekend, but I'm hoping I'll finish up in the next two or three days.

CharlesReed, do games w You teleport into the last game world you played. What happens next?

I'd probably either get killed by a nosalis or forget to change my mask filter. Greetings from Metro: Last Light!

Between Diablo sessions, I've been replaying Metro: Last Light (the original, not redux), and man, I am having a blast. I absolutely love that game. Out of the three Metro games, it's probably my favorite. Even choosing to be stealthy is a lot of fun. I've been playing with a silent revolver/Kalash/Ashot combo, and I can't wait to get my/Artyom's hands on the Kalash 2012.

I have no doubt it will improve, it just needs some tweaking, but I do think it will evolve into it's own thing too. I still have the original Diablo 3 on Xbox 360, before they added Reaper of Souls and started doing seasons, and even playing that is vastly different than playing D3 in it's current state. Having that perspective, it will be interesting to see where D4 is in a couple years.

I jumped back into Diablo 3 for its season 29, and holy shit, it seems so ridiculously easy in comparison to Diablo 4, at least in regards to leveling up. It's taken me less than a fourth of the time in D3 to get to level 100 plus 15 paragon levels, compared to me getting to only level 85 in D4 (which I'm also still working on). I don't know if it's because I've played so much of D3 that I'm just that efficient and I haven't quite got the hang of D4 yet, or if it's something else, but man, going back and forth between the two is kind of a trip. It also makes me really miss having a pet to run around and pick up gold for me lol.

I also finally finished The Sinking City again last night. I was kinda procrastinating by leaving a lot of the side quests for end, especially since I knew which ending I was going with. Got some pretty great screenshots out of it! It's one of those games that I wish came with a capture mode.

CharlesReed, do games w What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved?

Oh man, that's great. I can only imagine the relief you had once it was over.

I'm not sure how successful it was, but there's a fun horror (mostly) walking sim called Apsulov: End of Gods. It's based on Norse mythology and has a refreshing take on Loki, especially if you're tired of everything Marvel has put out. The visuals are great too.

There's another one called Close to the Sun that's essentially, "what would happen if Nikola Tesla built a giant fucking cruise ship for the world's smartest minds at the time and then everything goes wrong?". The story is really interesting, and I've been hoping for a sequel.

I don't think Murdered: Soul Suspect did very well from what I remember when it came out, but I had a ton of fun playing that game. They could have done way more as far as mechanics go, and some aspects are pretty cheesy, but I'm a sucker for detective games and trying to piece together information.

Speaking of which, The Painscreek Killings is so good. You play as a reporter who's tasked with invesigating a cold case in a tiny abandoned town. I really liked this one because there is absolutely no hand holding when it comes to playing detective. You absolutely have to figure everything out yourself. Back when I used to stream, I had a regular viewer tell me it was their favorite game that I played, because listening to me trying to figure out the story and my next step was like listening to one of those old crime radio shows. It's one of the few games I wish I could play again for the first time, since I know the outcome now and how everything fits together. The developer is supposed to be making another similar game, so I'm eager to see how that goes.

CharlesReed, do games w What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved?

Mad Max is honestly probably one of my most replayed and enjoyable games that I own. If it wasn't for Sims 3, it would have the most hours in my Steam library. For me there's something just so cathartic about driving around the wasteland looting scrap and beating up warboys lol. And then getting some mods/trainers involved and exploring the dev areas out in the Big Nothing is great too. I've gotten some really great screenshots out of that game.

CharlesReed, do games w Remedy says its Max Payne remakes are ‘a big, big project’ | VGC

I wonder if they'll bring James McCaffrey back since he and Remedy have been working together for almost every game Remedy's made (the only one I can think of that he wasn't in is Quantum Break). McCaffrey's voice is so iconic as Max imo, it's hard for me to imagine anyone else doing it.
