It’s fun and I enjoyed my time with it, but once you understand how the zombie waves work it’s very, very easy to build a cheez defense against them, and then there’s no difficulty anymore.
As long as you don’t look up guides on how to build the cheese bases you’ll enjoy yourself.
Yeah I almost gave up too, it did become a bit of a slog in the middle with all the back and forth collecting shit and chatting everyone up. Definitely has some pacing issues.
Midnight Suns was like that for me. The tactical combat was interesting and could have had replay value, but all the chores and conversations you have to do to progress the story made this a “no way” for a second playthrough. Absolutely worth it to go through once though, if you are into turn based combat games and marvel characters.
I have spent an inordinate amount of time searching for this game because it sounds like something I’d like to play. I checked all the Summer Game Fest announcements, and did many (many!) web searches and just couldn’t find anything else that seems to fit the bill. I did find a few dwarf voxel shooters but they are all a year or two old already. My suggestion would be to look through steamdb and see if anything looks familiar from the logo you saw: steamdb.info/search/?a=app&q=dwarf&type=1…
My clan started with Quake. Eventually it grew to IRL get togethers. We all grew up and had families and jobs so we don’t game together as much, although sometimes a new game comes along that gets us all playing together again. But 26 years later we still come from all over the country to get together IRL once a year, without fail.
I start ‘solving’ the game’s puzzles in my dreams, or random mechanics from the game show up in my dreams somehow. When that happens I know a game has its hooks deep into me.
If you have any interest in that style of RPG, I’d say playing the first KOTOR is time well spent. The graphics are junk but building your team in a Jedi / Scoundrel shooter looter and solving all the dumb locals problems in sometimes hilarious ways. I guess what I’m trying to say is most of the gameplay is still solid. Think FF active time battle for encounters, it’s very similar to that. Check it out!
