Disclaimer: i don’t know much about piracy and stuff in general but studied computer science so sharing this just for funsies DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE IF YOU ARE SERIOUS!!!
Okay so here it goes:
Buy crypto then use crypto mixers to annonymize it.
Use a webhosting site that accept said crypto.
Use vpn for everything preferably more than one routing from multiple countries like one from west then one from east.
If you can use a vm specifically for everything related to your site to make sure things are contained.
Make sure to not upload from the same id’s as the one you use to create site. Make a user account if you wanna upload anything.
Read up on how other such websites are created to figure out if you are missing something.
well good thing you said to not take this advice because it’s not really good.
Don’t use crypto mixers, a lot of them are scams and their usefullness is up to debate -> instead use monero, the actual private crypto that is used throughout darknet.
Don’t use VPNs to be anonymous. VPN are useful for a few things: torrenting, browsing on a public wifi and bypassing georestrictions. they are not useful if you want to be anonymous! To be anonymous, use TOR (or i2p) 3.the VM advice is good. alternatively you could use TailsOS which is more user friendly.
Don’t. Especially if you need to ask how to do it first.
When you pirate on Linux it’s up to you to make sure you are running it in a compatible environment. Checking protonDB and other sources may show you some workarounds you will need. The other way to do this is to open the game in a terminal, try to run it, look for errors or missing .so files or other things in the terminal output, and use that as a starting point to figure out where you need to go to get it configured the rest of the way.
Lutris scripts and the like do not use pirated sources on purpose, so you are very much on your own with it.
Sometimes I wonder, considering how high the volume of the abuse, how much of the “abuse” is copyright holders purposefully flooding such services with shit like CP to force a shutdown.
Like, either there’s fucking millions upon millions of pedos out there, or they have the financial backing of a giant corporation and/or government.
Probably, it’s a really obvious and effective way to attack a website. I hear any small imageboard that tries to start up has this problem too. Any shady organization with no ethics can basically use this to shut down anything that allows user content and doesn’t have huge moderation resources.
That strikes me as really out there. I think the reality is that there’s a lot of people into CP sadly – as an absolute but not relative number – and you don’t need many out there to have a prolific amount of content, which we know from our own special interest cases.
This is what always unnerves me about privacy tech. I always feel the pull of using high level encryption with whatever I’m doing – file storage, communication, etc – but a part of me is always saddened at the same time with how much abuse is effectively facilitated by anonymity and privacy.
But as the horrors of the dark web have shown, it’s a battle that law enforcement will never win – our most effective weapon as a society against CP and related abuse is Chris Hansen (I shouldn’t joke) …is engaging with and changing the material causes of this phenomenon. There will always be tools for sickos; the challenge is to prevent people from becoming as sick as they are, and when sick, finding ways to prevent them from abusing others.
Sadly even if 0.1 percent of the world population is a disgusting pedo that’s still 9 million people, even more unfortunate is that the actual percentage is somewhere in the 1-3 percent range.
You will find it very difficult to get help with game piracy on linux just because the community is very small. If the game has a native release it will be even harder since most linux users want to support developers that do native releases. I’ve only ever tried a couple games that I had no problems with and that was a few years ago. These days if it has a native release I will always just buy it.
I do get that point , but I don’t want to lie I am preety broke who lives in a third world country I am simply unable to afford such luxury of buying games
Cloudflare (American) is a cancer in this case, cause they have an auto-ban feature, which instantly checks hashes of files in a blacklist and warns domain admins with following ban of dashboard. And this not only goes to CSAM.
Can’t say I’m surprised that a file sharing site that advertises complete anonymity was being used to spread illegal and I’m guessing disgusting things.
I’m surprised that anyone thought it was a good idea though.
So the fact that they, citizens of a country with no extradition treaty with the US currently in a country where extradition is famously murky at best, don’t want to be extradited to face an American kangaroo court means that they have no rights and MUST be extradited to face an American kangaroo court?
It’s like Orwell and Kafka had a baby and then someone appointed that baby emperor of the world 🤦
Move to a place that doesn’t care about international copyright violations, make sure local content never gets posted, never cross any borders again in your life.
If you need to ask, you’ll get caught for sure if your torrent websites gains any popularity. Your best way out is to make sure you can’t be punished severely when that happens.
Jesus, everyone involved in this shit is so deranged. God I hope the “Scene” dies out with the next generation, just chill people releasing cracks without following a tome of rules and schizoposting.
Is there some correlation with this insane low level understanding of software engineering and a mental health issues? A lot of the scene seems to be like this and good old Terry Davis (rest in peace you racist)
Unironically, yes. Multiple studies dating back years have found a link between high intelligence and various mental health issues.
There was one particular paper I read about a decade ago, where researchers surveyed a bunch of collage students to find demographic trends based on their preferred operating system. From what I recall, the demographics of Windows users were not too far off from those of the university as whole, and Mac users were similar, aside from women being significantly over-represented. Linux users on the other hand, were almost all men, and nearly every mental health issue imaginable was over-represented by a huge margin.
As a CS dude who uses Linux and is around way too many people who seem like they genuinely are in need of some therapy on a daily basis, this entirely checks out, tbh.
I wonder if there could be a torrent site that is decentralized enough that no one really has significant liability for running it, like Bittorrent itself but for the indexing/curation aspect.
