Busy playing Shadow tactics: blades of the shogun ATM. I have Aiko’s choice already, but haven’t opened it yet. The series comes highly recommended in reviews. Blades of the shogun hasn’t disappointed so far. Just a very slow moving game that you pick up to fill in a bit of time.
I used to love the NFS series. I really wish they would remove that 3rd party DRM. It is nothing but spyware IMO.
There’s a difference between the gameplay and the greedy, manipulative monetization.
The gameplay itself is solid and polished better than just about any multiplayer game out there - anyone who tries to argue otherwise is letting their (justified) anger toward Activision/Blizzard influence their judgement.
The monetization feels gross and disrespectful of the playerbase. It’s like we have this well-made AAA quality game, but it’s inside a vegas casino. Even if you enjoy it, you have to deal with this unsettling feeling of being scammed the whole time that you play.
Good luck to Lenovo and all the others, but the Steam Deck has changed my life and it’s such a versatile and magical device for a modest price, and Windows-free to boot, that I’m not even considering any of these other ones.
Server lists have it’s place and I hate how many current multiplayer games don’t expose it (they most definetly have it for development purposes).
But most people playing these competetive games want a rank to compare themselves and also be able to rank up. They also want to be placed in a match according to their skill group eithout wauting for someone to leave. A server list isn’t compatible with those features.
At least that’s what I gathered from people online and my friends who were opposed to messing around in a private lobby. Luckily CS:2 will most definetly have private server support with server lists and mods.
Here are my recommandations on what is better on PC because of the advantage of mouse and keyboard vs controller by genre:
Strategy: the first thing I wanted to do when I bought my PC is to play Age of Empire 2 and Starcraft 2 and they still are the top games of the genre. It’s night and day compared to their console games like Halo Wars. I recommend also the Civilisation series.
Simulators: Cities Skylines and Microsoft flight simulator are fun games and nothing looks like it on console.
MOBA: AFAIK, MOBAs like DOTA 2 and League of Legends only exist on PC because it’s unplayable on controller. I don’t like these kinds of games, but it’s still something that you won’t find on console.
FPS: A mouse let you have better control on your aim, but it’s less relevant in games with crossplay multiplayer where the aim assist on controller is strong like in Apex Legends and Halo Infinite. Recently, a lot of people enjoy Battlebit.
Although Cities Skylines is the goat city builder it’s not the cheapest game in the world with all of the DLC which adds a huge amount to the game. I’d definitely wait it out with CS2 right on the horizon. If you can get the first game on a wicked sale it’s still worth it but CS2 is looking amazing!
