I want to play an easy shooter where you feel like you’re in a flow state aiming at targets, the only time I’ve ever felt like that was in the PS2 Medal of Honour, kneecap, helmet shot, head shot or up till MW4 original....
I’ve been enjoying the flow state I get into while playing Space Marine II. It is a mix of melee and shooting, but the melee aspect is very simple - no memorizing combos and the timing of parries is fairly forgiving. It’s all very satisfying once you get the feel for it. Cinematics are skippable, you can change the difficulty level to your liking, and you can set your lobbies to private if you don’t wanna play with others
I’m really frustrated with how almost every new game these days is being forced into this “live service” model. It seems like no matter what type of game you want to play—whether it’s an RPG, shooter, or even something traditionally single-player—you’re stuck with always-online requirements. And for what? It adds...
Sim, arcade, simcade, anything. I’m kinda disconnected from the genre and want to know what is considered the GOATs of racing games to try them out....
Lego 2k Drive is a great one. Micro transactions are sadly pushed pretty hard, but I just played with my Switch in airplane mode and that made it pretty easy to ignore them
They missed a single letter in a single word on a page that wasn’t meant to be public-facing, what a bunch of losers
It’s pretty easy to tell that this guy spends at least half of his waking hours on reddit. He also completely glossed over the fact that it’ll be open source, so we can just fork it and cut out the icky parts
You call them scammers, then say their right to scam should be protected by licenses? I say we scam the scammers by forking it and doing whatever the fuck we want with it 🙂
Since I’m a WoW addict, naturally I’m a Blizzard fan, of sorts. But my mind is blown every time I see anything from Call of Duty on the launcher. I’ve been really out of the loop, and recently saw this… and I’m shocked. You have to BUY the game for “open beta access”, like how does that make any sense? Also, the...
The current COD (MW3/Warzone) is my guilty pleasure. It crashes during 50% of my play sessions, the player/weapon skins are cringe, the battle pass is pushed pretty hard, but somehow I’m able to ignore all of that and have a lot of fun with it. Warzone is my personal favorite battle royale implementation and MW3 is a nostalgia trip with all the remade maps from past games.
Admittedly, half of my enjoyment comes from playing with my clan from the Xbox 360 days and feeling like we’re in high school again, so playing alone might not be so fun
Sadly, I don’t think ray tracing is going to fix how boring this game is. I also backed the kickstarter because I’m a huge Banjo Kazooie fan. I started this game 3 separate times and could never will myself to get more than halfway. Not only is the gameplay uninteresting, the writing just doesn’t have the same charm as the BK games
Warzone, COD’s battle royale mode, is free to play and seems to have surpassed normal COD multiplayer in popularity. Talking to randos while playing normal COD multiplayer, a lot of people say they’re just playing it because it’s a quick way to level up their guns for use in Warzone
Lots of people ITT complaining that Lemmy is blanket anti-business, meanwhile I’m just surprised that something involving Nintendo isn’t being downvoted into oblivion
The best controller I arguably thing is the 360 controller. It just feels right to use in fighting games and fps. I like xboxs layout with the analog sticks....
The dual stage triggers made the Steam controller the dream controller for Rocket League IMO. Mapping boost to the second stage freed up my right thumb to control other things
As a lifelong Zelda fan, I’ve never cared much for the stories of Zelda games anyways. Like Mario games, they’re always incredibly simple placeholders that boil down to “princess gone, defeat evil that took her”. These games got their start when that was the only story that you could fit on the cartridge anyways, so I could see why Nintendo would want to keep that spirit alive.
Plus, in an open world game, is story really that important? I’d rather have the excellent gameplay of TOTK than something like Red Dead 2 which is a great story with excruciatingly boring gameplay.
The Switch came out right around when people were bitching about phones getting rid of headphone jacks, which the Switch does have. I really don’t see the problem with including a headphone jack from the start, focusing on releasing a stable system first, and adding Bluetooth headphone support later.
Adding Bluetooth audio support is not as simple as slapping a bluetooth radio in your system, especially when you have a custom operating system like the Switch’s
Absolutely hyperbole. Just last year, we got Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4, and Advance Wars Reboot. Doesn’t matter if these aren’t your kind of games, they sold well, were critically acclaimed, and won awards.
lag behind the industry by 5-10 years
For graphics, sure. For creativity, accessibility, and all the other things that matter in video games? They lead the industry
Videogame maker Electronic Arts (EA.O) , opens new tab said on Wednesday it would reduce 5% of its workforce, as the industry struggles to grow amid high interest rates....
They’re playing less AAA games, yes. People are thinking much harder about the $60+ price tag as AAA studios repeatedly fail to live up to their promises. I feel like Nintendo is the only AAA company that doesn’t have a losing record for the past ~5 years
Look, I’m sorry you’re cat died dude, but just because some bad shit happened to you during E3 doesn’t mean that the escapism in video games can’t provide a healthy relief for other people. It’s also no different from books or TV in this aspect.
This is actually related to real marksmanship technique – you don’t literally want to pull the trigger with your trigger finger, you actually want to squeeze your whole hand, which indirectly results in pulling the trigger but with your hand applying tension in all directions instead of just backwards, reducing overall movement of the weapon during your shot
Do you use the official Nintendo dock and power supply? I know there were some issues a few years ago with third party accessories bricking consoles and firmware updates can cause that sort of thing to resurface
Another one is close to biting the dust. Sci-Hub is out, Z-Lib got ran off like a dog and now IA is going to remove a host of books because these publishers just can’t stop being money-hungry bastards....
It’s literally in the name for a .onion website: hidden service
Tor hides the identity of servers just as much as it does for client users. So as long as the IA hosts in a country where publishers don’t have jurisdiction, I believe they’ll be fine
it feels like I’m just playing BotW 2.0 instead of a proper sequel
Really? Sure, they carried over some assets and the shape of the overworld map is the same… but most of the stuff ON the map, the chasm map, the sky map, cave systems, new abilities, a crafting system that makes the durability mechanic suck less, new characters, new ways of earning korok seeds, the president hudson puzzles, the shrines are all different (and overall more difficult, thankfully) … there’s so much new, unique stuff in this game that it’s sometimes overwhelming to me, and I 100%ed BOTW twice. I think you’re over-fixating on the fact that the games have the same engine.
Ah, well then it sounds like a lot of the new stuff just doesn’t go along with your tastes/play style. Nothing wrong with that. Meanwhile, I can’t help but explore every square inch, so the Korok seeds are a nice bonus for that; and I’m an engineer so I like coming up with crazy alternative solutions to the Hudson puzzles and shrines
I hate to tell you but everyone is funding scary military tech, even if you’re not an American tax payer. If you’ve flown on a Boeing plane, used Microsoft software, worn Oakley sunglasses… all that revenue goes to companies who do or support that research
I mean I just named some of them, my point is you can’t avoid funding the military unless you live under a rock. Such is the military industrial complex
😂 practically no other option, my friend. Haven’t heard of Funkwhale though, sounds interesting. And no, as I mentioned in my first comment, downloading isn’t feasible for people with eclectic tastes cuz I just can’t keep up with my spontaneous “need” to listen to that one album that hasn’t even crossed my mind in 20 years
I never really liked turn-based RPGs until I became an adult with a full time job because they’re perfect for when I’m burnt and wanna play video games but I’m also too burnt to play most games.
I imagine there’s a lot of millennials/early gen-Z that feel the same way. A whole market that is just starting to be tapped
even when I’m home, my switch is in airplane mode unless I’m actively playing online. it’s crazy how often some games try to phone home, never realized until I got into this habit and started seeing the “please turn off airplane mode” popup
and that’s perfectly fine? As a Zelda fan, the wait for TOTK was absofuckinglutely worth it
I swear to god, I don’t know how anyone could be impatient about this. Have you played every other video game that’s been released during the ~50 yr history of video games? No? Ok, go play one of those or touch some goddamn grass
