PS4 was $400 at launch. PS4 Pro was $400 at launch.

Obviously tech is getting more expensive to produce instead of cheaper now, but still, a $200 markup from the base price is pretty damn huge.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

I imagine they’ll make money from the kinds of people who absolutely must have the latest and greatest available tech for everything. Personally, I wouldn’t bother even if money weren’t an issue.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

There’s always a market for people who want the latest and greatest thing, so they’ll make money off of it, but since most people will have the base model (even more than those who stuck with a base PS4, I imagine), all games will be designed with that in mind.

My newer PS5 controller suddenly started refusing to charge when plugged into a USB - the PS5 gave a warning that the charge was too high and it made my PC’s USB slots stop working for a bit after plugging it in. Glad they made that alternate way of charging at the bottom, as I got a charge stand and it worked.

It’s still alive and well in most private servers, too.

Books are generally cheaper, though.

True. She needs to get an e-reader and just pirate them if she’s not gonna read them anyway!

I’ve actually enjoyed the recent “Witcher 3” AC games and was hoping this would be kinda like that with a Star Wars skin, but the bigger emphasis on stealth makes it seem like it isn’t. Good thing I have AC Shadows to look forward to!

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

If you want the extra dungeons at the end, you can get the 2015 PC version or the GBA version with the sound and color patches applied.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

I hate stealth games and didn’t like the AC series until Origins started the “Witcher 3 wannabe” style of AC games. All 3 of the ones released so far (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) have been like crack for me - I can’t stop playing them until I’ve been to every icon on the map. If you like open world action RPGs and Ancient Egypt, you’ll probably like it. If you prefer stealth like the older AC games, though, you might not.

samus12345,

Really liked Control, although the Alan Wake DLC was disappointing. Hoping the second on has more Threshold kids!

I put the Saturn SotN (English translation) on my hacked switch via the Saturn emulator used for Cotton, since I’d never played that version. I don’t usually replay games start to finish, but I must have done so with SotN around 7 times by now. Meanwhile, I don’t think I’ve ever beaten any of the other 6 Igavanias.

samus12345,

Because this isn’t just available on PC.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

Been wanting this for a long time. DS games are trickier to emulate well than single screen ones, making this collection of old games more worth it than usual.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve played them all, just never completed them. Agreed, the Sorrow games are the best of the Advance/DS ones.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

I like everything except the long, LONG dungeons full of puzzles. I suffer through them so I can experience more story and overworld gameplay, but they’re a real slog for me. Similar problem to what I had with Fenyx Rising, actually.

Chained Together

Multiplayer platforming game where you’re chained to up to three other people trying to escape Hell by climbing up, up, up. I’ve only played it 2 player, which was fun, and can only imagine how chaotic 4 player would be. Can be played solo, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

EDIT: For once, I’m glad to see downvotes! Good to know it’s gotten recognition.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t know that it was actually keeping track when I first played it, but once I read that it doesn’t actually do anything, I was fine with continuing to ignore it.

samus12345,

I turned the difficulty all the way down, and it’s still not all that easy. I wouldn’t have gotten very far if that option weren’t there, though.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

This is what I did, although I went a step further than emulating. I’d always been planning on hacking my Switch once the next one came out, but when Nintendo went after Yuzu, I said fuck 'em and hacked it then and there. They won’t be getting any more sales from me this gen.

We need more games like The Stanley Parable, so I'm making one! Please share ideas and suggestions about what you want to see in this type of game! (store.steampowered.com) angielski

Hello guys, I’ve noticed a lot of people here are hungry for more games like the Stanley Parable. After playing the O.G. game and the Deluxe edition I’ve found myself wanting more of this. More of these meta, narrator led, weird humour games! I started work on my called Do Not Press The Button (To Delete The Multiverse). You...

They lost me forever when they tried to make the Xbone unable to play games unless you were online.

samus12345,

I would actually consider getting one if that were the case. But no console maker will ever do that again - too many suckers willing to pay. Sony at least lets you play F2P games online without a sub.

Oh yeah, forgot Microsoft changed it years back.

Same. When I was in college we played on the big TV in the rec room and it was always License to Kill. Took too damn long otherwise.

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

Rogue Legacy 2 was a standout example for me. I was happy to support the developer while they worked on the game, and all progress carried over to the finished product. Granted, roguelikes in particular are really well suited for EA because they’re meant to be played over and over with no real end.
