I found the batman vr game on psvr scariest. It wasnt that scary a premise, but because of the immersion, it was extra. You knew joker was in a cell and you had to Kean in to see. Although you knew he would get you, you had no choice. You had to physically force yourself to be attacked bybsteppibg forwards.
Similarly, the jumping off a cliff to commit suicide in suoerhot vr was quite confronting and scary. I think they edited it out.
I think some have said the start of resident evil village is quite scary on vr, but I havnt played it. Probably less so if you’ve already played it. There are a bunch of junonscare games but they interest me less.
As with all things, it will come down to how its used and the prompt.
For instance, filler characters could have a built in plan tonger more abrasive and use shorter responses when engaged.
The plot can still be set and the dialogue is used to advance that, however you choose to proceed.
I’m sure some will be seamless and great. Others will be clunky. Its not the tool, but how its used. If generative AI is just used to make assets and dialogue instead of paying artists, it will be crappy. If artists use it to plan characters and plots that flow more freely but still allow engagement and sandbox, it’ll be awesome.
So, even at full release, there could be bugs. That makes the suppression of actual opinions worse. If people didn’t call out unfinished projects, they would not get fixed. If they want preorders, stop making buggy mess games.
Employees do testing, already covered by an NDA. Content creators do publicity. If they are restricted to no negative publicity, then they are not reliable and it’s dishonest.
Which leads to less money. I’d prefer a few failed games and the industry learns. Fun games sell, it microtransaction nor half baked shovelware. Some strike it lucky with micro transactions, but only if the game is good.
My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...
Oh, I assumed it was kid friendly. My soon to be 7 year old is just started Minecraft. He struggles with games so far as too complex for him, like lego Harry Potter or even hot wheels (all the ps+ kids games). I was hoping to try it takes two with him at some point. If the story is not nice, maybe that’s not a great idea. Playing Rayman together was fun and forgiving as he just keeps reappearing when he dies.
If she would like to get in to more action games, one with a strong story, like the last of us could be a pathway, played on easy/story mode.
Id also second casual games as a pathway to more involved games. Overcooked is white hectic and introduced a few gaming mechanics from others. It’s essentially crafting against a timer. To progress, she’ll need to get better at controls, but the learning curve is gradual enough that she’ll.have fun.
Rayman (legends?), I play coop with my kid. He dies often ,but it’s not an issue as you only lose progress when you both die.
Well, as a guy, I’ve been asked multiple times why I systematically play games female characters in video games, to the point of skipping a game if I’m forced to pay a male one, with a few exceptions (I really liked Albus from Troubleshooters for example). Whenever there’s romance in a game, I’ll also take the F/F route....
Yes, generally if it’s new to me, I don’t have an appreciation of how their individual play styles will match mine, so I’ll default to the malez same as me. However, where I’m familiar with the characters and their game style, I’ll choose what suits the game in the style I like to play.
So for instance, street fighter is chin li for life.
I like the idea for AAA games that I know I like. I play sf6 daily and have played sf5 for years. However, id probably stop of ot was that cost monthly as it would seem poor value, knowing my habits. Saying that, I pay for ps+ monthly for online play. I’m considering getting a steam deck on the future to cancel that subscription.
I’ve played and almost 100% the Spyro trilogy when it came out. The games were lovely and (aside from the gorgeous remade graphics) the gameplay has aged really well....
My son is 6 and wants a switch. I know there’s a new switch coming this year or next so I’m hesitant. From a value point of view, sales on steam and the back catalogue prices will be much more enjoyable for him. However, it’s where his friends go. We’re in Australia, so no official support or sales here, so we’ll see when it’s his birthday what the lay of the land is.
While epic aren’t the white knight we want, anti competitive practices should be stamped out. It’s come out that Spotify get special terms. How can anyone new compete with them? The cut taken by app stores for what is effectively payment process in most cases is crazy.
They command the power as they have users. However most users don’t choose to be there. They have no choice but to use the app stores. It is technically possible to download from elsewhere, at least on Android, but it gets harder and harder to do so.
Personally, a few years ago I never would have co sidered an android phone without gapps. Now it’s becoming more and more clear that it’s a necessity. More and more tracking. More and more rorting. More fees. More micro transactions. More and more locked down.
These could be games that left a lasting impression on you, games that had stellar gameplay mechanics, characters that captivated you, games that you played tons of hours on, etc.

Uncharted on PS4. Fancied an action game that was tight and linear. I find too open world doesn’t respect my time and I don’t like grindy. I’m finally comfortable to play a game on easy and whizz though rather than challenge myself more and spend ages on it or never finish it. It’s still fun and even on easy, some of the gameplay is repetitive.
Also, always playing street fighter. Used to be V, now VI. Finisnf it is great and fun but it’s not as much fun creating combos as V, but the new mechanics are good so overall it’s better.
Yes, but the market has grown significantly and the cost of production and distribution is very low, lower than the age of cartridges. The development is the only cost.
Lots of industries have had relative price drops over that time. Mainly electronics. An mp3 player used to be $200 minimum.

I thought the phone home was to make it easy to have different devices talk to each other. It’s similar for a lot of IoT products. If properly set up, they don’t need to phone home and can find each other with the setting ayku input. However, many users are less technical and automating this through a central service makes it easier. Most companies also use this to scoop up personal info too, unfortunately.
They will try to sell based on future payments owed, or projected earnings. Then they will be sued by a big guy for breach of contract, having changed the terms without consent.
Then the money will disappear. Already, the engine will be abandoned. Unity is dead now.
Foss is available and with the programming community now incentivised to use it, it should do well. That might be their play. They knew the end was nigh.
