They’ll have to keep making the same juvenile milquetoast commentary and regurgitated gaming news on a different youtube channel. Half of their traffic can be attributed to Alanah and her drama that has nothing to do with their content.
The leverless design allows you to move faster as well, if you’re holding back, you can also hold forward and then release back, meaning there’s no travel time between moving the stick from back to forward.
Are the 2 extra buttons for custom mapping or do they serve an intended purpose? What inputs do you recommend mapping the extra buttons on the left side to?
Ubisoft has said the recently released Skull and Bones has achieved “record player engagement” since launch, although it has yet to announce how many copies it’s sold or how many players it has.
Today, on February 28, nearly five years after Control’s initial launch, Remedy Entertainment, the team behind the Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control series, released an announcement regarding a deal between them and 505 Games, detailing a full transition to Remedy acquiring full rights to the franchise. While Remedy...
I wonder what folks’ reaction will be. Will they pull a GTA Definitive Edition and fuck it up with a bad AI uprez? Will gamers still feel entertained by a one-note gameplay mechanic? I love MP, but I recently replayed 1 + 2 and they feel quaint by today’s standards. The bullet time thing would be a nifty little tech demo in 2024.
They didn’t expect it to happen because of all of the landmark rulings in the past that emulators are inherently not illegal unless they provide bios to the end user. The only reason why Nintendo is acting now instead of years ago when Yuzu first hit the scene is because it’s in basically a fully working state now and they somehow verified that 1,000,000 people downloaded TOTK. I suspect far more copies of BOTW and Mario Odyssey were downloaded prior.
Without upgrading to a new enginge, something that the entire industry has been begging Bethesda to do now for at least a decade, ES6 will feel exactly the same as pretty much all of their games since Oblivion, with the same “go here, kill everything indiscriminately, pick up trinket, deliver trinket” gameplay loop. ES lore is top tier and I’m always down for more of that, but they need to update their shit.
Not really mad about it. It’s an older type of game, mechanics are almost obsolete even by arcade standards. This is an easy money maker for Sega and probably won’t cost very much for them to implement. I doubt anyone is expecting a legitimately new Crazy Taxi single player game anymore.
They’re talking about being a publicly traded company. Of course every company has stakeholders. Of course everyone who works at Larian likes getting paid for their work.
If the company has to lose people to remain profitable, that sounds like the executive leadership didnt know what they were doing and should be replaced.
Disco Elysium has been dead in the water for years now. I won’t support the publisher anymore. The only reason why I didn’t pirate the game to begin with, even at the request of the OG dev, is because I don’t trust repacks or random .exe’s.
If youre still playing D4, I dont know what to tell you. Most people who pay attention to industry news and the game design philosophy of Blizzard knew well enough to pass it over.
Isn’t this what the ESRB rating description is for? We label games M for Mature if there’s swearing, blood, violence, and sex, but not for insensitive cultural stereotypes?
Saw this pop up, and it rings true for me at least. I like some numbers in my games, and not just the washed-out kind where they might as well just use a color instead....
They use Borderlands as the poster child for too many numbers on screen, but I think that was intentional. The beauty of endgame Borderlands is seeing the ludicrous amount of bullshit on screen at one time.
People forget, but Ubisoft had the same reputation 10 years ago they have today. Even 10 years ago the prediction was this game was gonna be ass. Delay delay delay, people have played Sea of Thieves to death and are onto new things, THEN Ubi drops a lacklustre beta where you can’t even get out of your ship. Yup. Sounds about right.
Not that most modern multiplayer games are worth preserving due to their toxic design, but this isn’t a huge issue. BF2 servers started back up thanks to Russians loving the shit out of that game. Warcraft 3 is still very much playable online and NOT on battlenet thanks to W3Connect. Fightcade made 90s 2D fighters playable online. Numerous console emulators support netplay.
Culture wars sell games. If not for all of the noise surrounding JK Rowling, the right wing contingent of the internet probably would have passed it over as “a game for kids”. If comment sections are any metric to go by, everyone that played it either thought it was completely mid or bought it to own the libs.
Right, but COD is good. Good in the sense that it’s been refined over the years to give gamers the ultimate fast paced arcade FPS experience. The controls are tight and responsive, and the game is easy to understand. It’s essentially one of the hallmarks of the genre. But yes, the political controversy surrounding the game was above and beyond the controversy surrounding yearly COD releases. The sales numbers speak for themselves.
Did games get any better though when the graphics got better? I remember being so hyped seeing PS3 game footage pre-2006, then after a few years it was like “oh shit, we have to go back!”
Games have gotten prettier, no argument, but I still feel like we’re playing the same games we were playing 20 years ago just with slight QOL improvements.
Epic takes 2 or more minutes for me to launch. Also when Im in my library, the page keeps refreshing randomly which shoots you back to the top. Very fun UI.
This question popped into my head when I was playing Void Stranger. I just got done with the game and will probably never play it again despite not finishing it. The game is genuinely amazing but it just gets so demanding as you progress through it. I ended up watching the second half of the game on YouTube....
Factorio. I’m almost at the stage where you can build the launchpad for your rocket, which is technically the end of the game. But the Pyanomod and Space Exploration mods literally add like 1000 hours or more to the game, and I just think I’ll probably be dead or society will collapse before I finish those up. The game is literally infinite if you want it to be.
For every job that AI kills, you need at least 2 techs to train the AI. This isn’t meant to say “go get a job as an AI tech if you’re worried about job security” it’s more of a “businesses will see the obvious lack of ROI and vision and refuse to implement it”.
Side quests on the fly? That already exists. Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 had radiant AI quests. I would much rather have a game that was hand made by humans where the quests that exist are the quests that were designed. Or, in the case of radiant AI, heavily guardrailed randomness.
