TheQuietCroc,

Weird that people just advertise their callousness so freely.

TheQuietCroc,

As is the case with all media. Nobody remembers Populous or Bill Lambeer’s Combat Basketball on the SNES cuz they were horrible games, but I still hear about Zelda: ALTTP and Super Mario World.

Epic Games reportedly hit by 189GB hack, including login and payment info (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

The report comes from Cyber Daily, who also broke the news of last year’s confirmed hack attack on Insomniac Games. The site claims that new ransomware group Mogilevich are the culprits, as per the screencap of a darkweb posting above, and that the hackers are now trying to get Epic or another party to pay up for the return of...

TheQuietCroc,

My last role was in payment processing and this is exactly how we did it.

TheQuietCroc,

Nah, got laid off last March.

TheQuietCroc,

It still takes work to put all that together. This game was announced like two or three years ago and it looked pretty far into development then.

Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

According to SAG AFTRA, the deal will “enable Replica to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release.”...

TheQuietCroc,

You don’t need AI to do that, that kind of system can be made independent of AI. It’s just not worth doing for this one use case vs using it for a whole voice.

TheQuietCroc,

I knew the sale was here cuz I had a huge email from “isthereanydeal” 😂

gmr_leon, do games angielski
@gmr_leon@mstdn.social avatar

What games would you suggest that have LAN support these days?

While PC may be one's first thought here, I'd also be really interested in any mobile games that might leverage one's local wifi network for multiplayer.

Classics are a-okay for suggestion too, btw!

@games

TheQuietCroc,

It does. The very first menu asks is you’re playing online or LAN.

TheQuietCroc,

Sounds like you wanna play a different game

Good gaming experiences with no HUD? angielski

I’m starting to find that HUDs in games clutter the screen and take away from being fully immersed in the game. I like games that force you to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and not numbers/markers on the edges of the display. What are some of your favorite games to play with no HUD? Here are a few of mine:...

TheQuietCroc,

I played Tears of the Kingdom HUDless and it was really immersive! I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything either, it honestly felt like how it was meant to be played.

TheQuietCroc,

I did it immediately. I played BOTW years ago and just wanted to try it for something different.

TheQuietCroc,

Oh so this is where that sibling breeding meme came from.

TheQuietCroc,

That’s also how I got my copy 😂

TheQuietCroc,

Glad he liked the game. I enjoyed it but I was a little let down to learn I spent more time making custom graffiti than I did playing the game. It’s still worth picking up but maybe for $20 instead of $40.

TheQuietCroc,

I think you need to own the game on steam to review it so there’s some gatekeeping there at least

TheQuietCroc, (edited )

Tencent has been around for a decade, that’s past being “at the gate”

TheQuietCroc, (edited )

In gaming? Netflix is definitely at the gate with the current options they have. Apple as well with their Arcade service. Google and Amazon keep coming back but never stay long, I’m not even sure they should be in the conversation.

Tencent has been in gaming for a long time now, they’ve owned Riot since 2011. They’ve had their hand in other gaming companies many times since then. They’re well past the gate, it’s not even in their rear view anymore.

TheQuietCroc,

You were not exaggerating. It looks more like Minecraft than DRG. I was definitely expecting “Deep Rock Fantastic” but instead it’s more of a survival game than anything.

TheQuietCroc,

I’m more excited about season 2 than I am happy with the first season. I liked Sweet Tooth’s story and the characters in general except for John Doe. Both his character and Anthony Mackie’s performance were really lackluster in my opinion, and it felt like Anthony was really forcing the humor the whole time.

Stephanie Beatriz killed it, as expected. I thought her backstory was really interesting and appropriately ridiculous for the setting.

I’m hoping season 2 leans into more of the car combat and the ridiculousness of the setting.

TheQuietCroc,

I was thinking “Anthony Mackie is really channeling his inner Will Smith” after the first episode!

TheQuietCroc,

I haven’t even played BG3 yet, but I wouldn’t fault anyone for saying this. I lost a month and a half to TOTK and enjoyed every second. It fixed every gripe I had about BOTW, but that’s kind of the problem as well. I always felt like BOTW was a glorified tech demo, and after playing TOTK, it felt more like the game BOTW should have been.

TOTK also has its own issues, especially with the story. The story just being told to you and not being something you’re really experiencing was a weird choice. I was hoping for Ganondorf’s involvement to be more than “it was me Link!” leading up to the final confrontation.

The final boss fight was an insanely awesome sequence though. Easily my favorite part of the game.
