Balatro inspired me to download other simple rogue likes on my phone.

I also branched out on console and played both South Park RPGs and Farcry 3.

And somewhere in the middle of all that Oblivion remastered made me play that game all the way through for a fourth time.

I’m curious what your take on Borderlands was after paying them all back to back. I’ve been a fan of that world since the beginning, and I’m curious how they stand up without the nostalgia. And of course, which was your favorite?

2 is by far my favorite story with the BEST character development, but it definitely has it’s flaws. And the later games have acknowledged and overcome most of those flaws, but it seems like they haven’t had the substance to make me think “That was SOOO GOOD!” like 2 did.

Welcome to the club! I did the same thing with a meat slicer about 20 years ago. My thumb was flat at the tip of the nail for a long time, but it’s grown back since then.

Turn based games are great for one handed, because you can take your time hitting the buttons. Maybe slay the spire, Inscryption or balatro if you haven’t tried those yet.

I did the same! Unrelated to my thumb, but I played through Final Fantasy 4-6 and had a blast. I started 7, but I might be the only person on the planet that doesn’t enjoy it.

It’s been too long since I played the first game, but in 2, you try to go straight and live the simple farm life and it’s such a boring part of the game. Typically that’s a bad thing, but I loved how it simulated that itch for chaos. As a player, you’re thinking the same thing as the character. “Not long ago, I was riding around shooting people and making tons of money, and now I’m shoveling shit for pennies a day.” When the mission comes to go back to your roots and raise some hell, you know you shouldn’t, but damn does it feel good to get back to doing what you love.

Luck be a Landlord is like a slot machine version of Balatro.

You select randomly generated symbols to add to your slot machine in order to get more money with each spin in order to have enough to pay the increasing “rent” at the end of each level.

Slay the Spire is one of those games where the more I play it, the worse I do. I did better at this game when I didn't know what I was doing then I do now after hundreds of hours in the game.

It’s a lot like slay the spire, but shit gets weird. (In a good way)

Slay is more like “shuffle a deck of cards and try your luck”

Inscryption is more “I’ve created some puzzles for you to solve.”

How realistic does it need to be? If you’re down with being a Space Cowboy, Borderlands 2 is the best in the series. (So far. I’m still working on 4, and 2 should be cheap enough that it won’t be a huge waste if it’s not your style)

I’m surprised. I would have guessed that music would be one field that the suits wouldn’t pay too much attention as long as it didn’t sound like garbage at the end of the day.

Yeah, I’m a longtime Borderlands fan who follows what’s going on with the franchise, and Randy just acts like a child who inherited a video game company. He usually says this dumb shit with a smile on his face, so I think he’s intending it to be in good fun, but it just does not come across that way.

I’m not very far in, but so far I’m enjoying B4 more than TPS, and MUCH more than 3.

The new one feels like progress so far. I’m not very deep in, but the story and dialogue are not nearly as annoying as 3 was. The biggest difference has to be the movement. In previous games it often felt like you were trudging forward until you found an enemy and then running backwards so they didn’t catch you before they die. Grappling hooks, double jumps, and gliding add a TON of movement and gives you those John Wick moments where you’re bouncing around the area and blasting people from every direction.

I’m not far enough to have settled on an opinion on the open world yet. I did find it tedious in other BL games that I had to walk through the same areas in the same order over and over again to access the end game or start a new character.

That being said, I often don’t know where to go or what to do in BL4. Thank Torgue they added the Echo objective finder, that’s pretty much the only way I’ve been able to stay on track at all.

I agree with the towers. Worst part of the game.

My main intention on my remastered playthrough was to try to break the game through spell creation and enchanting. I ended up with a few spells that would turn me invisible and pump my speed and acrobatics to insane levels. Most of those tower levels have you running all over and opening gates, but I just jumped over them and avoided every enemy as I sprinted to the top.

I don’t understand the hate, so I’ll try explaining myself and either redeem myself or dig myself deeper.

Religious zealots have been trying to ban explicit material since forever.

Saying Project 2025 caused the Steam ban is like saying Tipper Gore caused Project 2025.

EDIT: Ok, I went back to make sure I didn’t miss something, and I did. This 2025 guy’s group pressured the payment companies to put the squeeze on steam, who folded like a house of cards.

My bad, he did kind of cause this, or at least instigate it.

In mother fucking 2001 we had Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

I walked into that movie as an animation student wondering how motion capture and 3D animation would change the industry.

I walked out convinced that the industry will not give a fuck about any of that trash.

I oversimplified for comedic effect, but the animation was just terrible in that movie. All of the character movement was awkward and didn’t feel natural at all.

The thoughts were, what could be more realistic than the motions of real actors? And the answer was: nearly everything. Sure, we use motion capture, but we’ve mixed it with traditional animation theory and fine tuned it to work. Far from the awkward mirroring they did in FF.

Played the Heretic remake. Pretty fun to come back to that one after 30 years. 😂

I might try Hexen next, I hear they made it much better, but the original wasn’t great at all.

I sadly didn’t get to play much of it. I only had access to it for a limited time, and I did not get far at all.

A friend and I entered a local Magic the Gathering tournament. I had just taught him how to play, and he had picked up a few cards of his own and talked me into giving it a shot.

I sat down across from my opponent and watched him peel the plastic off of a deck that he just bought, and pummeled me with a pre built elf synergy deck.

My friend got stuck in a neverending healing token deck. He couldn’t do enough damage to break all the healers, and the healer didn’t have anything strong enough to get past his defenses, they just sat there dealing and healing infinite damage for what felt like forever.

I was pretty much over the game by the end of the day.

I tried a run like that in New Vegas. I think I got to Primm, and just kept getting tore up too much to be fun.
