I don’t know much about this scene. How is this different than an emulator? You still need a ROM I believe.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

At least for me, I have a gaming PC. If I need to dock it, I’ll just switch computers. Though if it’s your only gaming PC then it could probably be more powerful.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Is the first Rolling Sparks change just removing that bug where you free aim it at the ground to cause it to deal all it’s damage at once?

Also unsure what the second Sparks change is about.

RIP bloodfiend’s. Heard it was really good.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Lame. Sounds like they made it useless. Maybe it’ll be ok for weak enemies but so is everything.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Excellent. Was looking forward to trying that.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

I want to get used to the pads. I have a deck and never use them. Was there a game that helped you get used to the pads?

Neato, (edited )
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Aww. I was just about to try out the Broken Blade. Wonder if it’s still viable.

Added new feature to summon spectral steed during the Elden Beast the boss battle

Oh heelllll yeah. Fuck you and your teleporting, Beast.

They also nerfed Long Envoys Horn ash and mohg’s spear ash. Lame.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Indeed. Worst part of the beast is just running back and forth. Once had it teleport 3 times before I ever got close enough to hit it.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

I hope they do. It’s such a cool mod. I don’t know why from keeps doing such bad multiplayer instead of just normal connection.

Neato,
@Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

Why would he get in trouble? Sony only owns 15% of From. And who the hell would fire him? That’d be like firing Kojima. And we see how that turned out for Konami.

    Hasn’t everyone figured out the scam yet? It’s very common.

    Release game. Slowly role out content over years in dlc. Make new game with a few core changes and take all the content away. Slowly role out content over years in dlc.

    We’re on the 7th iteration people. It’s the same with fighters other than smash. You’re just going to pay to buy the same stuff over and over again.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Yeah. Thanks for the heads up to not bother, Geoff!

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Ooh, good scores for a new dev and publisher. I was interested before but now I’m excited to try it.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Because they get to play it early. That’s it. I played BG3 early and still had a lot of fun replaying Act 1 when it came out.

    The studio gets a number of things, as well. While direct feedback is small, that is still valuable as they could never test that many hardware and software variants. They also get automated data from the software phoning home on crashes if that’s enabled. And they get an influx of cash in the last few months of development as their sales spike gets a bit flattened. It’s a winning strategy if you don’t have the funds for a huge marketing blitz to drive initial sales.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    What about a Marvel battle Royale?!

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Just Hawkeye and Black Widow. They don’t have powers, they’re just good at their jobs. It’s already silly in they other games they appear but at least there they don’t fight each other.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    It’ll somehow be worse than Skyrim.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    It was never going to happen. It was a scam to get into a new monetization scheme.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Yeah. Right now Family Sharing locks down an entire library instead of individual games so this wasn’t possible.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Who can be in a Steam Family?

    While we know that families come in many shapes and sizes, Steam Families is intended for a household of up to 6 close family members.

    To that end, as we monitor the usage of this feature, we may adjust the requirements for participating in a Steam Family or the number of members over time to keep usage in line with this intent.

    This sounds like they are going to limit usage to geo-locational. Or that’s just supposition by me but I don’t see any other things this would target.

    Neato, (edited )
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    You can mark games as Private in your library now. It hides your ownership, play stats, etc. It doesn’t specifically say it disabled Family Sharing but it’d be silly to keep that. There is also a Hidden Games section which stops it from showing up on your list.

    help.steampowered.com/en/…/1150-C06F-4D62-4966

    Edit: I just tested it with current Family Sharing (not this beta version). Both Hidden and Private prevent games from showing on another shared account.

    Neato,

    I don’t think there’s much new info on what’s in the DLC but I found this bit right at the end:

    Finally, the interviewer asks Miyazaki if he would like to make another Elden Ring-sized game, and the answer is a yes. While he is not sure if they will be able to immediately start work on such a game, he would like to. He believes that he is not alone in the development team in wanting to put the experience of working on Elden Ring towards a new game, and more than anything, making a huge world and adventure is fun and exciting to him.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    I didn’t realize it was happening until I used machine gun where it’s slow. I actually like it but if you didn’t realize I could see it being confusing.

    Also the key binds aren’t super. There’s a lot of overlap and weird finger positioning for some stuff. The stratagems especially. I’m running, holding L1 and using my right hand to dial in the d pad like I’m hacking the matrix. It’s kinda fun and stressful but I could see complaints about it.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    I was about to throw orbital strike buoy and my teammate accidentally melee striked me causing me to drop it. Was confused since I didn’t even know that was a thing and as we were figuring out the orbital strike blew us to hell. And that’s how I got the AAAAaaah! achievement.

    Fun times.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    OooooOOoooh. That looks neat. New enemies and environments will be a lot of fun. I hope the team put a lot of effort into hidden items, areas, branching paths, etc. And also the enemy balance which I feel is the most important part of a soulsborne game.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    I love going into the office my one day a week. It’s a new, less comfortable place to sit on Teams meetings! /s

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    I hope it‘ll be technically more competent than their last Pokemon game

    We all do but S/V sold like hotcakes so I highly doubt it. They really have no incentive to spend any more time or money that absolutely necessary to churn out games.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Well Palworld is just a bland survival game that has pokemon in it. The major interesting thing Palworld does is a base/farm simulator where your workers have different specialties and can assign jobs. I highly doubt Pokemon will go that route.

    So the only other thing Palworld does is that it doesn’t run like dogshit and is concurrent multiplayer. So if we get either of those from Pokemon I guess that’s a win?

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    I’d take another gameboy/DS-esque Pokemon game. Those at least were competently made.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    So this is why MS didn’t care if CoD went to Playstation. If people can just use Game Pass for $10-15/month and possibly already have it, why spend $70 every 1-2 years on new CODs on PS?

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Probably which is probably why it didn’t sate Sony. Sadly it did seem to sate, at least partially, the regulatory bodies.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    When has a boycott ever worked? For the most part people don’t have principals unless their very livelihoods are directly threatened.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Skyrim. I dislike most everything about this game. It’s not a “bad” game as in it doesn’t work and it’s not exploitative, I just think it’s quite average.

    Combat is pathetically simple. There are some interesting support spells but by and large magic is either bolt spamming, beam spell, or you summon golems. Melee is even worse just having basic and strong attacks. This is exemplified by the meme that you can make your character however you want…as long as it’s a stealth archer. But even then the Stealth Archer gameplay is pitiful. Archery has the same boring attacks as melee and stealth is just watching a little icon.

    The story is garbage. Besides a few side quests, the main campaign is just awful.

    The open world is pretty decent, but is waaaaay too small and jam-packed. Skyrim is supposed to be a remote nordic province. But Skyrim does a terrible job at having places feel remote and like wilderness. Every time you turn a corner in a mountain pass there’s another cottage or bandit tower, etc. It feels like a theme park whose theme is nordic wilderness.

    The progression is mostly boring. The skill tree is almost entirely passive bonuses. Do X% more damage, Attacks have a chance to do bleeding, increased range, etc. Very few skill trees have an effect on what you can do; just how well you do it.

    Again, Skyrim isn’t a terrible game. It’s competent at what it does, but not good at it. The only caveat is that there weren’t many open world RPGs before Skyrim that were as large or became as popular. Plenty of games who did every aspect of Skyrim better; but I struggle to find one that did them all at the same time. /rant

    Even if all the art was an asset flip, the underlying game has good mechanics and satisfying gameplay. People don’t play for hours straight even if a game is gorgeous is the game is boring.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Steam doesn’t pay or force developers to be exclusive. And it offers benefits and features Ubisoft launcher doesn’t.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    Lol. That’s a lot of words you’re putting in my mouth.

    Steam offers no incentives for exclusivity. Others do. Devs choose to launch on steam and there’s nothing stopping them from launching elsewhere. Look at palworld: gamepass and steam and you know they got paid for gamepass.

    Devs use steam because it’s where the people are. Steam has done nothing to try to be anticompetitive to other stores. Unlike said stores.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    If Palworld was available exclusively on Steam would you care?

    No, because that would be the dev’s choice. It’s also the dev’s choice to take a bribe from Epic and such, but Valve does nothing extra to encourage exclusivity.

    If any other game you care about and wanted to play was exclusively on Steam, would there be a post or comment complaining about it?

    People have and still do complain when games aren’t on GoG. Not as much anymore but it happened.

    Offering financial incentives isn’t the forcing anyone

    OK, we’re done. You don’t understand or acknowledge financial coercion so this is going nowhere. Byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    By the people who made the new Wolfenstein games.

    Neato,
    @Neato@ttrpg.network avatar

    It’s a standard open world game. If that appeals to you and you love HP then perhaps.
