What sucks is that no one is gonna buy this and Sony is gonna see it and think “I guess no one wants Horizon games anymore.” When the fact of the matter is that no one wants a Horizon game that’s identical to the one that’s already available, and runs/looks great.

I think Sims is a dead franchise now angielski

After being incredibly disappointed by the release of Sims 4, I was someone holding out hope for Sims 5 that they would have realized, “Hey, people really didn’t want us to do anything multiplayer in Sims 4. Maybe that means we should go back and make an actual good Sims game?” But instead, we get this awful news that Sims...

Do people still play The Sims 4? I bought it like 7 years ago, played it once, got bored, and never picked it up again. I saw gameplay once of the Sims 3 and was genuinely surprised by how many more features it had.

When I did play I would build relationships with people before locking them in my house until they died and then steal all their assets

Day 67 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (lemmy.world) angielski

Today’s game is Modded Minecraft. I took a brief break from Fallout New Vegas because some friends asked me to setup (and play) a Modded Minecraft server with them due to me being the only computer guy and this was the base I setup....

I initially assumed they were referring to the Pokemon franchise but I don’t think that’s related to patents? Maybe it’s a regional thing?

Had to wait until no one gave a shit about Palworld anymore

That and it also would have been a lot more bad press for Nintendo had they taken action when the game was first popular

Not that Nintendo’s legal team has ever had an issue with bad press

JusticeForPorygon,
@JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t know you could patent code. I thought patents only applied to physical inventions.

I suppose it makes sense though, there isn’t much difference.

    Idk I guess we’ll have to see what actually comes out of them.

    Personally, I can’t imagine being one of the public figures of Mojang right now, trying to balance their public image with the demands coming from above.

    And I know there isn’t really any confirmation on how much oversight Microsoft exercises over them, but I really can’t imagine it’s none at all.

    I will say though they really stumbled a few years back with the 1.19 concept art controversy, and seem to have had a hard time getting back on their feet.

    JusticeForPorygon,
    @JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

    I’m not gonna say it’s a bad idea, I’m just gonna say I think I’ve seen this one

    For Concord

    JusticeForPorygon,
    @JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

    I think the idea is more that if this were in place companies like Sony would be more incentivized to make sure they release games worth buying and playing, because if they didn’t then they would have the financial burden of keeping them alive.

    Side note: it doesn’t require constant support from the developers. Just update it so players can run local servers, then it would technically still be playable. Of course I’m not a game dev so I’m sure thats more complicated than I’m making it sound, so that’s again why they should focus on making games that are good to begin with.

    JusticeForPorygon,
    @JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

    That’s fair, I just think it’s insane that we’ve gotten to this point in the first place.

    JusticeForPorygon,

    Do you think the shit IGN tried to pull helped sell the game? Because that would be pretty funny I think

    really sucks for the devs. 8 years of development for a game that lasted 6 days.

    Is Elder Scrolls 6 doomed to fail? I can't see how it will work angielski

    After the massive blunder of Starfield, I cannot see how Elder scrolls 6 could possibly be successful. Everything points to the fact that they knew that the game was not even half finished, in my opinion, with major glaring issues, and they decided to just send it off anyway. The difference between this game and Oblivion is that...

    JusticeForPorygon,
    @JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

    I think you’re missing the point that the majority of l companies don’t care about the quality of what they release. Large pro consumer companies like Valve and Lego (I couldn’t think of any others video game related), who might be willing to let their bottom line fall in favor of improving relations with the customer, seem to be very much in the minority. For most others, the only thing that’s important is how the bottom line is affected. Starfield, for all its flaws, was the bestselling game of 2023.

    Now, you could be onto something when you mention Bethesda’s poor track record, and how that might play into ES6’s release. If they keep making disappointing games, maybe there will be a “boy who cried wolf” type situation where, since Bethesda keeps making disappointing games, no one will want to buy ES6 by the time it comes out. Personally though, I don’t think that’s very likely. The reality is that many (if not most) consumers don’t even know who makes the games they buy, nor do the look into the other games that company makes. And for the ones that do, more still probably don’t care. I think no matter what there will be a sizable amount of people who see Elder Scrolls 6 and go “Hey, I liked Skyrim, this’ll probably be great!”

    World’s pt. 2?

    JusticeForPorygon, (edited )
    @JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

    Man all I want is the ability to own more than one freighter so I don’t have to give up my Star Destroyer to get a pirate dreadnaught.

    That and having a galactic empire fleet would be sick asf imo

    But yeah I think World’s Pt. 2 was quietly delayed over the summer, as a YouTube video I was watching pointed out that the article announcing Part 1 used to say Part 2 was coming later this summer before later chanting to later this year.

    If I had to guess, this was supposed to be World’s part 2, but they wanted more time to work on it so they released what they had as this update.

    In other words, HG learns from their mistakes.
