Godort,

There was a short story I read a while back that also featured that plot point, but I don’t remember what it was called.

Only that I found it after reading into inspirations for The Laundry Files by Charles Stross.

Godort,

Hollow Knight fans were, of course, let down with the lack of a Silksong appearance again, but I hope they expect that by now.

I’m already wearing my clown makeup, you don’t have to be so hurtful.

Godort,

WB doesn’t seem to know how to release any media post 2010.

They keep trying to shoehorn IP into trends, years after market saturation to try and capture nostalgia, and then wonder why they didn’t meet sales targets. See MK1, Space Jam 2, or anything related to HP or LotR.

The other thing they do is when they do have an interesting or original idea with the IP, the executive team seems too risk averse to put any capital behind it. See the two new Loony Tunes movies, one was in theaters for less than a week and the other was scrapped entirely for a tax writeoff.

Godort,

Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations! (lemmy.world) angielski

I’ve been sinking further and further into the RetroDECK time-sink of setting up my emulators just so, and having the most fun doing so. The PS2 is a largely unknown system to me, I neither had one nor spent much time before now playing through some titles....

Godort,

Damn, there’s like $900 worth of PS2 games in this image

Godort,

Sure, but if it were free it’s a “you get what you pay for” situation. People are a lot more forgiving when they aren’t personally losing money.

Godort,

Man, that fucking sucks. The work this dude is doing is worth respect.

You know what would be cool? If all those (job name) simulator games could all be joined. angielski

So I’m playing Supermarket simulator. And if you notice TCG Simulator looks VERY similar. That’s because it uses the same assets. It looks like it’s actually the same shop location, on the same street. But in one game, it’s a supermarket, and in another game, it’s a card game similator....

Godort,

Ive played in a few of these. It’s an absolute blast once you get your settings dialed in and balanced to everyone else. If they’re not, then the player in the smallest game tends to have a lot of downtime.

The only downside is that the participants need to be familiar enough with their chosen game to do a randomizer which means roping in casual players is difficult.

Also, there are a massive number of unsupported games that you can play like this that are not part of the main website. multiworld.news/apworlds.html

Godort,

Do randomizers count? If so, I play though Link to the Past like 15 times a year

Godort, (edited )

alttpr.com/en/randomizer for Link to the Past

sm.samus.link for Super Metroid

samus.link for the combined version

You will need a ROM of whichever game you want to randomize (or both in the case of the combo randomizer)

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Addresses Studio Closures (www.ign.com)

“The closure of any team is hard obviously on the individuals there, hard on the team,” Spencer said. "I haven’t been talking publicly about this, because right now is the time for us to focus on the team and the individuals. It’s obviously a decision that’s very hard on them, and I want to make sure through severance...

Godort,

You dont need to remind us to sympathize with the people you laid off, Phil. Thats the whole reason why your PR is bad right now.

Godort,

I’m about 60% through Ori and the Blind forest. Its curently scratching an itch I have for metroidvania games.

However, I learned that instead of patching the original game or releasing a DLC, they just made a re-release and im not buying the game a second time just for a new area and some improved QoL with fast travel.

Godort,

I started Ori specifically because I didnt want to endlessly throw myself at Soul Master and the Watcher Knights again.

Godort,

Was it the cans puzzle in the pantry?

Trying to puzzle out that sentence was a fucking nightmare.

The sentence in questionSHY GYPSY SLYLY SPRYLY TRYST BY MY CRYPT

Horn of Balance - an indie 2D zelda-like

I'm developing 'Horn of Balance', a 2D zelda-like featuring 12 non-linear dungeons, 2 interconnected worlds and a TON of secrets.

Right now, the project is live on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hornofbalance/horn-of-balance) and we've almost hit the funding goal with just 24 hours left!

There's also a free demo on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738140/Horn_of_Balance/) and Itch.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

@games

Godort,

I have only one question.

Can you move and swing your sword at the same time?

In most 2D Zelda games you can’t, and it helps with positioning so you don’t run into the enemy when you try to hit it.

Most of the 2d Zelda clones I’ve played let you move and swing at the same time and it takes some time to get used to.

Godort,

This was me until I discovered randomizers. The same game you know, but things changed enough to feel fresh.

I spin up a Link to the Past rando a couple times a month because it only takes about 2 hours to finish one.

Godort,

“I wish we could get a new versions of the good sega Dreamcast games”

Monkey’s paw curls

Godort,

Some games come with an insert or a manual, but it’s rare.

And it’s cheaper to have only one case design rather than two

Godort,

I’ll see you at the end of Act 2 when you remember what a fucking slog Act 3 was and decide you’ve scratched the itch.

I’m now just learning of this too and intend to do the same

Godort,

No. Don’t you have a depressed teenager to harass?

Godort,

Link speaks in both the CDi games and the cartoon that was attached to the Mario Bros super show.

The general consensus on the Mario movie probably doesn’t matter much as it made over a billion dollars worldwide. Personally I thought it was fine but lacks a lot of the heart that made the deeply flawed 1993 movie so charming.

Godort,

Watching that all was a bit like watching a sped up version of the crypto boom.

It started off with a bunch of well-meaning weirdos that were sticking it to the man. Then a few people made a whole bunch of money and from there it got super popular and turned into a weird libertarian cult.

Godort,

A top-down Zelda could be in the cards. Perhaps a Links Awakening style remake of the Oracle games or Minish Cap

Much smaller in scope than TotK and therefore much faster and cheaper to develop, especially if they just re-use the LA engine.

What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

Godort,

A 4-player couch co-op JRPG where each player gets one of the characters in the party.

A few series exist that let you do this, but none offer agency to the other players outside of battles to go talk to NPCs and get their own quests.

Godort,

You’ve probably already heard about it, but take a look into Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It’s coming out in about a month and looks amazing.
