Beyond all reason. I stared a few months ago new to the genre and after 100 hours of multiplayer I still sucked I was the lowest rank getting flamed most games.

Now I’ve got 250 hours under my belt and I’m really enjoying it. Started doing 1v1s which sped up my progress as it forced me to address the weaknesses I’d developed from playing 8v8.

Sky: Children of the Light - Players Offering to Take Your Hand (beehaw.org) angielski

In Sky: Children of the Light you can let yourself get taken by the hand, and the other player guides/plays for you and you barely need to do anything anymore. Felt a bit absurd and funny, but interesting nonetheless. Certainly unique. It was also very good to eat some snacks and watch yourself progress while doing so. bee happy...

I have little sympathy for people who buy ubisoft games. Especially always online ones like the crew.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

That’s definitely the right way forward but I’m to jaded. People who brought the crew don’t care about this stuff and stopped playing many years ago and I’d be surprised if it still has 0.1% of the player base wanting to play. To me fighting to preserve the crew is like complaining about a happy meal toy breaking.

I think legislators are to old and unfamiliar with the gaming world to know how bad the situation is. They can barely understand right to repair and that’s a simple concept that their generation should understand.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Dark souls 1. No other game made exploring the world so exciting. I was checking every single nook and cranny because the game isn’t afraid to give you good gear if you look. The combat can be frustrating but the further you get the easier the game gets. Also definitely follow a build guide if it’s your first ds game.

Fizz,

Fair play I love marmite.

We’ve had code modding by using thunderstore since release only new thing is paradox mod store and map editor. I did get a roughly 10% performance increase on my largest city. It’s still not where I want it to be but I’m glad it’s slowly improving.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I’m jealous haha I wish I waited.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

No they are not ysing steam workshop only paradox mods. The community is using thunderstore mods but I’m pretty sure paradox brought off the modders to ensure they move over to paradox mods.

Jagex co-founder and ex-employee (Andrew Gower) announces new MMORPG inspired by RuneScape (store.steampowered.com)

I mean, when I saw an ex-Jagex employee making a new MMO I thought it was going to be slightly inspired by RuneScape… But this game looks exactly like RuneScape, and the description of the gameplay also matches it perfectly - this is essentially RuneScape 3 but managed by someone else (and with a much newer engine)

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I’ve played a lot of runescape and I do not have a good opinion about jagex. They’re lucky they struck gold and instead of polishing it they do everything they can to destroy it. I’m sure this game will be pure trash.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I’m extremely excited about this dlc but I’m also sad that 15,000 mods are about to get broken.

The Feds Are Coming for “Extremist” Gamers (theintercept.com) angielski

Gaming companies are coordinating with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to root out so-called domestic violent extremist content, according to a new government report. Noting that mechanisms have been established with social media companies to police extremism, the report recommends that the national security agencies...

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Its times like this I wish I used matrix instead of discord. Even though my friends and I are not extremists you can definitely make us look like extremists if you took jokes out of context.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

There are plenty of jokes that look bad if you strip away the intention and context. They aren’t bad or offensive jokes they just seem offensive if you take them out of context and present them in a different way.

For example this shane gills joke looks bad “That’s the thing about these countries, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia. No Black people.” but when you add the next part it makes it funny.

“And I know what you’re thinking. No, you need Black people to keep the whites in check. The last thing you want is a whole island of whites that think they’re the coolest people on earth. A disaster. That’s how you end up with Conor McGregors walking around.The foreign whites are out of control.”

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

The clip of him saying it funnier but its not everyones cup of tea

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

How would you know you have never heard a joke from me.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Outside of extremely lefty places like lemmy jokes like that are acceptable and if you called that joke out as bigoted then people would consider you odd. It’s not even an edgy joke it just has a racial punchline.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

This is exactly the problem. The fbi shouldn’t be able to snoop on you based off suspicion. I can encrypt every thing and be as edgy as I want and they still shouldn’t pull my discord message history because they have no reason to suspect I’ve committed a crime or am going to commit a crime.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Please never join the fbi. There won’t be a single gamer who isn’t an extremist in your eyes.

Also you’re delusional to assume my only internet experience is new reddit and 4chan. There is no one on this site who’s internet experience is new reddit and 4chan. That person doesn’t end up on the fediverse.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I don’t care how long you’ve been a gamer its obvious you’re old and out of touch.

How could this new reddit/4chan user have been here day 1 if the fediverse dates back much longer than new reddit.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

fucking release some tf2 fixes you dog cunts

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

It would be well received. The last batch of Sony games ran pretty decent

Fizz,

That’s so cool how is he so causal about all of that. It looks like one day it will be able to handle running jumping and all kinds of movement. Vr is going to be better than real life.

Is there any love for BAR (Beyond All Reason-FOSS RTS) on Lemmy? angielski

I just finally got into this game and I’m completely shell shocked! I had seen it recommended before but ventured into other games without giving it a fair shake. As an avid RTS fan since Dune: The battle for Arrakis on Sega genesis, I’ve been slowly feeling more and more lackluster in the genres future prospects. I was a...

Fizz,

This looks pretty cool I’m definitely going to check this out. That 25v25 game was wild.

Fizz,

Since seeing this post I’ve played 20+ hours of BAR. Holy shit this game is so hard to learn but so fun and the community is awesome.

I’m playing through portal rev now. Every time I finish a section of traveling I feel like I’m a genius solving all the little 2 or 3 step puzzles. Then the path opens up into one of the huge puzzle rooms and I’m like shit where do I even start this looks impossible.

I’m getting through it all and enjoying the journey.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I stopped watching osrs content because so many youtubers were using that awful looking mod. Jagex has gone down the same path and are remaking rs3.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Simulation speed grinds to a halt as soon as you slapdown a few high density buildings. You basically have to but endless low density sprawl or your city will grind to a halt. I think the Media team of colossal order deserve the toxicity they are receiving.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I scammed hundreds of thousands of people how dare they post mean comments on my works social media.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

If they are hurt by comments on the internet then they shouldn’t be a social media manager.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

If you’re working retail and your job is to deal with customers I highly doubt your boss will let you withdraw communication with your customers because some of them were verbally mean.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

CO can ban them from posting on their forums if they take it to far.

The comments are tame as fuck compared to most community/developer interactions.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I don’t agree with that at all. There’s plenty of people I don’t respect and I will not treat respectfully yet I shouldn’t be barred from interacting with these people. Especially if they are a public figure with the power to influence change.

The president of the United States repealed row v wade. Should everyone opposed to that refrain from toxicity. I think they are well within their right to kick up a stink, be angry and make their voices heard.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

You can block emails as well. You can moderate your steam forums and youtube comment section and Twitter replies. I can’t think of a single place where CO is interacting with the community that they can’t block/ban users who are mean.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I had fun as well and got to 160k. I tried to reduce population as much as I could but my city was way to developed.

For me there is no replay value until more is added. The cities are really plain and a lot of the default assets look like crap. I know it will be fixed in the future but CO has this attitude that we should be greatful for the shit that was released and are happy to keep us waiting months for basic fixes and features.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I’ve got 160k people. Playing on 1080p with a 2070s and a ryzen 5600x

Simulation speed is prioritized and graphics is turned down to medium but the game runs at about 0.8 to 1x speed.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

What’s your point then? Of course they have forums Steam and paradox forums and reddit are the main places to interact with Colossal order. CO has never said they are getting death threats so I don’t know where you get that from.

It seems that you’re getting misinformed by game journalist blogspam. CO is mad that the mood on their forums is sour and they are getting called out for releasing an undercooked buggy game for full price after months of misleading marketing. Everytime they post an update the comments are filled with sour posts complaining about real issues that have still not been fixed 3 months later.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

The worst part is it doesn’t even stop cheating.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

How did these text based games work? Could you really type any action and it would give a relevant response?

Fizz,

Clonehero is pretty good. People sell auduino guitars that work better than the old controllers. I converted my old guitar hero guitars into an auduino guitar.

What is the next "grown up game" now that Minecraft only goes for children? angielski

When Minecraft came out, it was hard to understand, not that good looking and only really catered to nerd gamers. There was no recipe book, no cute animals, no lush caves to explore, just an unforgiving Day-Night cycle and few, very creepy caves....

Play Java edition and play large modpacks. The servers I’ve played on have an average age of 25-35.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Failed to reach target isn’t a sign gamepass is failing. They have 30 million subscribers. In only 4 years they’ve gone from 10 to 30 million and seem to still be growing.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

That article is only speculating that the gamepass user growth has slowed or reached a plateau. Even if we say that gamepass has reached its peak thats 30million people subscribing monthly. Platstation plus is at 50million monthly subscribers. BG3 is estimated to have sold 7m copies so they aren’t exactly in a position to say what the market wants.

Subscribing to gamepass is better value than buying the games outright. The up and coming generations are far less opposed to subscriptions and as they get older and have more money I see them just paying $10-15 a month for an endless supply of games. Maybe they buy a few games here and there the ones they know they will play a lot of.

I obviously havent thought much about it and am just kneejerk reacting to the headline. While I do think the apatite for full priced, fully developed, content rich games is there and BG3 proves to developers that its viable. I also think that subscription bundles and games that release with only core content and use microtransactions or subsciptions to fund developement of more content are easier to make, easier to get investors and overall safer to pull off and that is why I believe the market is trending towards games as a service.
