After playing World of Warcraft for 15 years, I started becoming increasingly bored and disgruntled with the game. The game being grindy and repetitive is no real surprise, I mean it’s an MMO. But the one thing that was really frustrating was paying monthly for a subscription and a huge chunk of cash for an expansion, but...
So that’s great, but halo IMO is the least FOMO inducing mp game on the market with battle passes. You can actually “equip” the season pass you want to level and work on it, the best thing is they never go away so there’s literally not a single bit of FOMO, only the illusion. Regardless, I see your point for the other games and I commend you for making the change.
I’m genuinely shocked how much Epic poured into the store and it still lacks so much basic features. Sorting games is still extremely barebones, store is filled with NFT/crypto garbage, the store still looks like a college student’s first front-end project, and last time I used the launcher to pick up free games (last year),...
My theory has always been they wanted to keep the door open for Microsoft if things just go under. When you think about it, they were struggling quite a bit in the early 2000’s until gears. Microsoft really propped them up with that franchise, then they made fortnite, lost a lot of money until they pivoted to the BR mode and now they make millions every damn day.
Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It’s true they’ve always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I...
For what it’s worth, Robin Walker and his team are working on the next half life after Alyx. Will that ever come out? I have no idea and I’m not expecting anything. Deadlock however is a game designed by one of the grandfathers of the moba genre, and has had over 20k concurrent players at any given time, and it wasn’t even announced with it’s existence only known through word of mouth. That’s insanely impressive and shows how huge the moba genre really is and how those players are thirsty for a new game from a big company. It sucks and I wish we had more sp valve games but I’m content with the work they’ve done on proton, steamos, the steam deck, steam itself, and half life alyx. They haven’t been sitting on their hands not doing anything, they’ve been putting their focus on more technical areas versus making games and that’s ok.
It’s called HLX, and it’s apparently a traditional non-vr game. Robin Walker was leading the Alyx team, it’s a safe bet he’s leading this team or working with this team on the sequel.
You really have no idea how intellectual property works do you? The reason they’ve gone after emulation and rom hosting sites is pretty obvious, they have to protect their IP.
Why they’ve waited so long only to do it now? I honestly don’t have an answer for you on that one, but if I were to guess it’s because retro gaming has been going through somewhat of a renaissance as of late due to shitty AAA games and indie devs gaining so much popularity.
The bottom line is Nintendo lost the emulation battle once, and they don’t want to lose a second time. They’re more experienced and understand the risks of letting emulation replace services like Nintendo switch online, and so do publishers that own intellectual property from retro consoles. It sucks, but that’s corporate life, and you can’t really get around it without jumping through hoops or doing something illegal.
This is peak Bungie, they really hit their stride with halo 2. A lot of people would argue marathon 2 was peak, but halo 2 was so much fun and really fleshed out the universe in a way that marathon 2 couldn’t due to technological limitations.
They are no longer going to be any form of independent from Sony/PlayStation anymore. The Final Shape’s sales were never going to be able to prevent this from happening, says Jeff Grubb on his morning news show (paraphrased).
Yep, OP clearly didn’t read the article and is banking on fake Internet points to fuel their comment. I’m glad management is getting the axe, they clearly have no fucking idea what they’re doing in Bungie.
The crowdstrike fuck up has already shown how something like vanguard can fuck your shit up easily. I’m glad league doesn’t run on Linux anymore, I don’t need this vanguard trash fucking up my PC.
Look I get what you’re saying, but they’ve realistically made two stinkers, Andromeda and anthem, and I actually like Andromeda not to mention it was made by a completely different and brand new studio that probably shouldn’t have called themselves Bioware.
I also enjoyed inquisition, it was fun and had a ton of commercial success as well as a really good final expansion that was universally praised. I get Anthem really burned a ton of bridges, but it’s not on the scale that places like Reddit like to make you believe. The gameplay was legitimately fun, the story was awful and all over the place.
LOL no, you’re just trying to farm the Bioware hate circle jerk. Inquisition was fine, mass effect 3 has the best gameplay and storylines of the original trilogy outside of the ending.
Do better, this isn’t Reddit, you don’t have to “karma farm”.
As an aside, they also recently announced that their handhelds will now have a 2 year warranty because there was a big controversy in how they handled repairs.
Because it IS a cheaply built gamer device in a generic OEM shell. Pretty sure Microsoft has gotten enough flak for handheld Windows that they’re starting to build gamescope type optimizations like directSR. It’s not enough for me to switch back but maybe it is for others, who knows, hopefully Microsoft can stop riding the AI hype train to eventually build something to make armorycrate obsolete.
As already leaked, the game is a 6v6 third-person hero-based shooter. Heroes include magicians, robots, creatures, humans, and more. There are currently 19 different heroes, each with different abilities and playstyles that you’d come to expect from a MOBA including ranged, healers, tanks, assassins, etc....
I feel like I’m the only one excited for this game. Every post about it is getting shit on for absolutely stupid reasons. We have 4 low res screenshots and no videos of gameplay with a few details on the gameplay loop. This is what icefrog was working on for years when he stopped working on DotA 2, the man damn near created the entire moba genre, he’s taking liberties with the gameplay and incorporating overwatch gameplay with moba mechanics that sounds like it’s handled in a more meaningful way instead of just copy/paste mechanics from other mobas and move the camera to 3rd person like smite. As someone who’s older and loves mobas but struggles to keep up with the pace of them, this game sounds like it will be right up my alley and for the record I love the art style, fuck me right?
There were many factors that went into the failure of artifact, gameplay was not one of them and is still solid to this day. The biggest problem was the monetization, and not really the monetization itself, but the timing of monetization. Hearthstone conditioned people to want free cards and earn free rewards by playing the game, artifact was a digital representation of a physical card game where you could literally build decks for like $10 and enjoy it, the allure of free low quality shit will always overshadow high quality paid content and it’s just fucking sad. Now look at hearthstone, a shit husk of a game it once was.
I really like what I see , and icefrog has been working on it for a long time. If he’s involved then I’m interested, the man created the moba genre and IMO the best moba on the market.
Yeah this is bullshit. They wanted the IP’s and nothing more. Situations like this remind me of something that Marty O’Donnell said when that Bungie/Activision lawsuit happened. He said something along the lines of they have to own their IP’s because it’s the one thing a studio has that’s holds value.
I don’t think big companies know how to make a good FPS campaign anymore, let alone hone in on classic deathmatch multiplayer. The last FPS I bought was Half-Life: Alyx four years ago, and the first one to come along and interest me since then was Phantom Fury, but I’m letting that one iron out bugs for a few weeks before I...
They want to be a cloud gaming provider and sell Xbox fire TV sticks instead of consoles, with controllers that connect directly to the azure server running their games. Why do you think Nvidia and the UK weren’t happy with Microsoft a few years ago and they made so many deals with cloud gaming providers like boosteroid and GeForce now?
Microsoft turned every Windows PC into an Xbox overnight with XCloud and they had little to no overhead costs. That’s where their business is right now, cloud and AI, not gaming, Xbox will take a backseat and I’m going to bet we will see them transition from a console maker to simply publisher that conveniently sells a cloud TV stick that can play games.
Hmmm it’s almost like Jim Ryan was on to something when he said gamepass wasn’t good for the industry and publishers didn’t like it during the antitrust trial with Microsoft.
It blows my fucking mind how stupid some people are just to be able to play the next rehashed bullshit CoD on gamepass instead of paying $70 a year for the same garbage.
I feel like I’m the only one even remotely interested in this game. Does it look like watch dogs in space? Yes, but I for one enjoyed watch dogs for what it brought to the table. I’ve been dying to play a star wars game that doesn’t involve a Jedi as the main character, so this game is right up my alley. It’s Ubisoft so I’m very skeptical though and cautiously optimistic.
A link to the past for sure, it’s one of the greatest games of all time. My favorite modern Zelda is skyward sword, the dungeons in that game were so well crafted it’s insane the amount of effort and detail they contain. Least favorite has got to be breath of the wild, it’s a wonderful open world game, but an absolutely horrible Zelda game.
Have you ever tried to setup a Windows container let alone one on an Xbox? Even Microsoft knows windows containers are fucking shit, just look at azure Linux, it’s the entire reason for it’s existence
Ninja Blade would like a word with you, along with every shovelware game they made that wasn’t armored core. It is well known at this point FROM were in financial trouble before demon souls.
And this is what Sony was afraid of, why buy on PlayStation when I can play it on XCloud with gamepass for a fraction of the price? Especially if all I care about is the campaign which doesn’t take lightning fast reflexes and can be played with a small amount of latency.
This is also why the EU was worried about cloud gaming competition, but Microsoft played the long game with gamepass and now it doesn’t matter if their stuff is on other cloud platforms as long as they get that gamepass sub.
The thing is, this whole buyout was Microsoft spending “fuck you” money. They can’t beat PlayStation right now, so they’re playing dirty, shifting their business elsewhere and buying out the competition. Their whole business strategy is just hoping nobody gives a shit at this point, and if someone does give a shit they’ll just pay the fines and continue.
Last epoch, path of exile, grim dawn, Torchlight 1,2 and if you want to suffer 3, if you can suffer through Korean p2w nonsense then lost ark, and also titan quest. All of these games are on multiple platforms.
I tried the demo, it has a lot of problems outside of it being a AAA single player shooter. The “magic” system is just reskinned guns, the story is nonsensical at times, and the movement is stiff and slow. It’s like they never play tested the game and just said it was done one day. That’s not even mentioning the almost ten minute walk around the city at the beginning doing nothing but following what I will assume is a non critical character to the plot.
My God they cleaned it up?! I can’t imagine it being a longer intro. The fact that you revisit the city later is just disappointing, that city was terrible in it’s design.
The only reason they want their games on multiple platforms is so they can prove they’re not trying to buy up studios for exclusivity. This is the main objective here folks. They don’t care about being on more than one platform, they just don’t want to fight the FTC again when they try to buy up sega, square enix, take2, embracer or whoever the fuck they want to buy next. Remember, this is the same arrogant bullshit company that wanted to buy Nintendo and got laughed out of the conference room.
Valve, that’s who would get in on the market. They already made a killing with the steam deck and there have been talks of a dedicated steam console again, like they have prototypes of consoles in their offices. I’m not talking about another steam machine scenario either, I’m talking dedicated valve designed hardware like the index and deck. They have the storefront and the network architecture to support the hardware. I’m already using my deck as a switch replacement and a console plugged into my TV with a USB-C hub.
Easily the best FAQ I’ve ever seen. It takes a lot of courage for a company to be this honest with fans. Just a lot of honest questions that people have ACTUALLY been asking....
This always comes up in these card games, what’s so great about draft modes? I don’t play card games myself but I’ve tried getting into them in the past and this is always a point of conversation and I don’t really understand why.
I don’t understand the hate for the outer worlds. It has great satire in it’s themes like the fallout games, the build diversity is there and gear is impactful, the story is pretty fun and interesting. It’s like people hate it because it’s not the massive open world of fallout new Vegas, but people tend to not realize or I guess forget, there was a stupid amount of just walking from point a to point b in that game only to get to a super linear quest line. The outer worlds does a great job of simplifying the world in a meaningful way. The terrible remaster of it doesn’t really help the game either though, it really should have been left alone.
Okay let me start with two heavy hitters right from the get go and don’t forget these are only personal oppinions and I absolute understand if you like those games. Good for you!...
Zelda breath of the wild - it’s one of the worst Zelda games I’ve ever played and I’ve played so many. There were so many bad decisions made with this game from weapons breaking to getting rid of traditional dungeons. It’s a great open world game but a terrible Zelda game.
The Horizon series by Guerilla Games - These games are good for the most part, however they suffer from long stretches of boring open world where you have to fight robot dinosaurs with underpowered weapons. The whole point of the combat is to find weaknesses with the enemies and exploit/attack those weaknesses, but the game never at any point explicitly explains that concept or focuses on that concept. It expects you to just understand what to do. Not to mention the absolutely stupid grinding for mats to make new weapons and armor. Melee combat is terrible, the story for the most part is pretty good but man does it take forever to pick up, it overstays it’s welcome. They are technical powerhouses but just so grindy and boring.
It does not add any choice. All it did was encourage me to speed run my way to the master sword and essentially go down the line of weapons I had in a boss fight until I ran out. There was no strategy, just a sense of never wanting to use any of the good weapons and hoarding them. It was so bad I marked a spot on the map where weapons would respawn every blood moon so I could at least have some good weapons. Guess what that’s called in every other game? A repair mechanic. Don’t even get me started on the master sword “breaking” for no thematic reason.
Despite being nominated for numerous awards and even winning Game of the Year in 2018, the creator of God of War, David Jaffe, is not a huge fan of the new direction the series has gone in. I played about 3 hours of 2018, and my honest opinion is that the story was kind of interesting, but the gameplay was slow and clunky. The most fun I had with my time was the fight in the beginning with Baldur, and most of it was a cutscene. I prefer the gameplay and fluidity of combat in the original trilogy, which I have beaten, to this new version. With that being said, it’s still a good game, just not my cup of tea.
You realize cyberpunk wasn’t the only game they’ve made that needed fixed after release right? Both W1 and 2 had enhanced edition patches to fix the broken shit in both games. W1 was a 7/10 game on release by multiple outlets. W3 was the first game they actually took their time with and delayed multiple times to avoid the enhanced edition patches. Anyone who thought cyberpunk was going to be flawless on release was breathing in that hopium.
I literally can’t play this game, my PC has 16GB of RAM and it runs out of free memory after like 10 minutes and crashes to desktop. When your “fix” is to just buy more RAM or increase your page file size, then your game is a fucking scam. I understand new games require more powerful hardware, but this is Amazon lumberyard ffs.
These could be games that left a lasting impression on you, games that had stellar gameplay mechanics, characters that captivated you, games that you played tons of hours on, etc.
