Good news! You’re allowed to skip them and instead play the hundreds to thousands of older games you’d surely love, but that slipped under your radar at the time. Plenty to hold us over until publishers and studios learn their lesson.
I’ve been replaying a lot of the classics recently, and just like with Combs when I rewatch a Star Trek series, I keep finding myself saying “fuck, that’s him too?”...
Excluded is the one month of IGN+ or whatever. This one actually seems kinda decent, if not for the fact I have no interest in the System Shock remake.
The only one I have any experience with is Atomic Heart, and man, I don’t know if it gets better later, but I played the demo and it was like an hour or more before I got to do anything but talk, I think? And the dialogue was both painfully bad (maybe a poor translation to English?) and delivered by people who sounded like they’d rather be anywhere else.
I got through phases of games, and right now I’m in the one I like to think of everything-modern-is-making-me-angry-so-I’ll-turn-back-to-vintage-games - and that’s in the form of PCSX2 on my Steam Deck....
Of course I want to bang surface dwellers, cousin. You know that after I left the Underdark, I pleasured a woman without a spider crawling across my ass for the first time? That almost never happens upland, it really lets you focus on the task at hand. And most of the women there will ask before sitting on your face.
Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it? That’s what it is to be a slave.
I’ve seen tits you people wouldn’t believe. Orcish knockers around a fire off the shoulder of the Chionthar. I watched pierced nips glitter in the dark near Baldur’s Gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain… Time to die.
I’ve never really played any porn games more hardcore than Baldur’s Gate 3 before, but you remember a couple weeks ago when GOG gave away those NSFW games, as a direct response to the whole thing?...
One other side point that came to mind after the main post.
We’re so conditioned to think realistic violence in games is fine, but realistic sex in games is “wrong” or “sad”. But honestly, I realized I played through 3+ games without doing any violence* and had a blast, and that was actually really refreshing.
Oh right, I have actually heard that about Fate. I never played any of the games, but I caught a lot of Unlimited Blade Works when my wife was watching it, and it seemed pretty solid.
It’s certainly what the majority of the genre became with the advent of mobile gaming, as with so many other simple puzzle games. But the original Bejeweled and Puzzle Quest were both excellent and huge hits, and were complete games before the microtransaction garbage that came later.
It’s a nice genre for relaxing and turning off your brain, similar to a Tetris or a Bust-A-Move. I know there have to be titty and microtransaction filled variants of both of those, does it invalidate them as puzzle game genres?
Thanks for the warning. I’d started playing because I needed a distraction from some hard IRL stuff, so that’s good to know. It was nice that when I fired up Being a DIK from the same bundle, they straight out ask you at the beginning if you’re going through shit right now, and gently suggest the game may be rough for you if you are.
That seems like a fair assessment of the current state of things, but I do want to stress how good Huniepop is as a puzzle game alone. One sparkling jewel in a sea of erotic sliding puzzle and jigsaw crap.
If you removed everything outside the actual gem matching gameplay and soundtrack, I would still play it.
And yeah, I started poking around and saw some of the more ambitious open world projects like you’re talking about, and they all looked like abandoned early access. But if they have the technical ability, why not show my character licking some Asari ladyparts in Mass Effect 5? Adults play a shitload of video games too. Make it an optional DLC if you have to.
Oh yeah, I saw that one earlier and threw it on my wishlist for later. It looks pretty good. I picked up Scarlet Maiden instead for now, which is also a pixel-based naughty game, but looks to be a roguelite and is supposed to have great gameplay too.
Nice. I don’t typically go for M/M unless femboys are involved, but it’s what my wife likes, and that’s one of the ones I linked her when she asked me to research a few games for her to try.
It’s not out just yet, but it sounded like they’re close based on the discussion board. Demo took me an hour or two to run through, worth the time if you like the subject matter. Quinn is adorbs.
Feel like dudes who refuse to ever play as women or in simulated gay relationships are just depriving themselves of some quality content. I haven’t gotten to this BG3 playthrough yet, but you can’t tell me Ascended Astarion and Ambition Gale won’t be the most toxic codependent enabling shit ever, and it is gonna be enthralling to watch that heat up and burn down.
I liked Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but I haven’t played them since PS2 was current. So I was thinking about grabbing them before the steam sale ends, but I’m wondering if I should just go ahead and get the whole “integrum masterpiece” collection....
Thanks for the replies, folks. Sounds like it’s mostly pretty garbage, but the large amount of postgame bosses might be kind of fun if I turn off attractions. I do kinda want to try DDD for playing Riku, so I went ahead and got the package as the cheapest option that includes that.
If I still feel like playing 3 when I get there, it sounds like drinking my way through the Disney worlds may not be a bad idea.
I’ve no doubt she’ll continue to do well, but I’m not sure BG3 directly helped her get the role, other than making her voice recognizable to people. I read an article that said that Sandfall did blind voice auditions for E33. They didn’t even know they’d chosen Charlie Cox until after the fact.
Looking to ask for people’s favorite tactical RPGs because I have played a bunch but never really gotten into any. XCOM, Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Advance Wars, Fallout, etc....
Front Mission was pretty fun, and it looks like there’s a remaster available that shines it up a bit. I don’t remember much about the plot, but you build and outfit a squad of mechs, and you can specialize them for guns, or melee, or rockets or what have you.
Fuck yeah, the Amiga was an amazing gaming machine. We had cracked copies of damn near everything. Wings, Lemmings, Lost Vikings, Monkey Island, Leisure Suit Larry, Blood Money, Menace, The Killing Game Show, Woody’s World, It Came From the Desert, Bubble Bobble, Elvira, Out of this World… hit after goddamn hit.
Shit, I might need to reinstall WinUAE if that’s still a thing.
Before they get too far, can someone please make sure they have the rights to Joe Walsh’s “In The City” this time? It would be fantastic music for an intro, outro, or act break.
They did do a lot of teasing of the moon and the Crystal Palace space station, but there are also signs in-game about a high-speed rail line to Chicago opening in 2080. So the “Chicago but wrong” descriptor might be exactly what it says on the tin.
Not gonna lie, I was hoping they’d use some Law of Surprise stuff to give Geralt a new ward and let you create your own Witcher. But, if instead I get to do teleport strike bullshit with Ciri’s powers, I’ll be content.
So, I’ve spent over 2 hours on Steam searching for a nice game to play. But it’s all junk, as far as I’m fed with Steam recommendations. I liked ksp2 1, cities skylines 1, age of empires 2, baldurs gate 3 a lot, I just finished Divinity original sin 2. I like rpgs and management / factory games like workers and resources,...
If you liked BG3 and Divinity 2, I’m obligated to mention the Pathfinder games: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous. The graphics are a touch simple, but the writing is great and the detailed character building scratches an itch for me. As far as I’m concerned, Owlcat is currently the only real competition Larian has.
I’ve just broken my left collarbone and for the next couple weeks have left arm in a sling. Thinking about games that are played just with the right hand?...
Can anyone recommend a distro (and desktop environment?) that’s going to be almost the same as desktop mode on the Steam deck? I’m getting more comfortable in that than I expected to be in any Linux, and to my surprise and delight I haven’t had to delve into the command line at all yet.
Oh damn, it’s descended from Hulk UD? I loved that game, definitely one that was on my mind for this type of game. I’ll certainly be checking this one out then.
Ah, maybe that’s the missing ingredient. Pretty sure I don’t have that yet. I fucked off from the main story almost immediately to go find balloons and such.
There’s so much I want to like about Warframe, but last time I tried it I couldn’t get any sense of what a new player’s supposed to do to start progressing, or to get the story in a comprehensible way. The build timers also made me sad. I got all the parts, just give me the Rhino.
Still though, “We All Lift Together” is a certified banger.
I saw that one thrown around when I was searching before. I wouldn’t really be playing it for the story, but as long as the story’s there, should I be familiar with the first two?
