What Microsoft has been saying about Xbox lately strongly implies that this is a Windows handheld designed to solve software and user experience problems with using current Windows handhelds. And signs are pointing toward the next Xbox console coming sooner than the next PlayStation and essentially being a PC running a console...
Honestly, it’s a Western media thing. Pretty much the only mythology most of us English speakers are taught is Greco-Roman. In past decades, efforts to branch out were often shallow. Things are getting better, there’s more stuff coming out drawing from indigenous or African or South Asian mythology or whatever. But it’s taken some time.
Video games have been mostly made by white dudes, after all. They’re exposed to white dude stuff.
I remember when Skyrim came out I was living in a drafty house with no heat in a snowy winter. I was wrapped in like 5 layers sitting at my PC going “Why couldn’t this have been in a desert” lol
Vampire Survivors is a top-down survival game where you essentially just try to stay alive as long as possible while endless waves of monsters come at you from all sides....
Man I picked this up and spent ALL DAY yesterday on it, it’s so much fun! I got one character up to level 60+ in the second level (library) yesterday, he was effectively unkillable with Garlic, Runetracer, Magic Wand, etc all going at once.
This game is super satisfying and I absolutely had dreams about it, Tetris-style. I got the DLC for good measure and what I’ve tried is really good! More of the game but with some extra stuff going on. I’m gonna get so many hours out of this! And might need a third controller so I can play with my wife and my kid.
Oh buddy. Finally sat down to play it with my kid and she was HOOKED, her maniacal laughter at Pentagram was worth every penny. Immediately blew several hours, I’m thinking most of tomorrow too.
The DLC slaps too! That Contra one is super fun. I’m gonna be at this for a while. It’s a really good one to chill in after playing some Mechwarrior, too - one game where you have to consciously use everything at all times, and another where it’s just “LOL BOOM”
Oh man I can’t even imagine how much is squirreled away if you’re still finding stuff like that, damn! Gonna get my money’s worth out of this game for sure
I also finally grabbed Balatro so it seems I’m in full dopamine mode now, see yall in a few months
Hey, so… it’s been two weeks. The addiction deepens. I’ve got the whole game on two systems now. I’m trying to use the wiki while still finding surprises lol.
This game is the shit and I thank you for driving me to it
After playing World of Warcraft for 15 years, I started becoming increasingly bored and disgruntled with the game. The game being grindy and repetitive is no real surprise, I mean it’s an MMO. But the one thing that was really frustrating was paying monthly for a subscription and a huge chunk of cash for an expansion, but...
I knew a guy who got real into it and started an “Accidental Cannibal Cult”. It was fun to listen to, if nothing else - I don’t get into those games much. Kinda like hearing EVE Online or Dwarf Fortress stories.
I want to play Bloodborne because quite frankly it looks really cool. I’m told the game is going to be way too difficult for me. I usually play games on standard or easy difficulty. Should I even bother? Is this game even going to be playable to a noob like me?
That’s what soloing dungeons in Destiny is like. They’re 3-man activities but can all be done solo if you’ve got the balls. The real trick is a Flawless run, zero deaths. I spent months working on my first Solo Flawless, and once I nailed it, it was as if everything else had gotten easier. Now I can run that dungeon with my eyes closed.
I can respect that, even if I’m not a big Souls player. Set a goal, commit to it, and see it through. It’s good practice for life.
I did Pit of Heresy. Which is debatably the easiest dungeon (Shattered Throne came out earlier, but Pit has Rally flags), but still. I wear the emblem proudly (and have even taught the dungeon to a few newbies). I’ve nearly completed Grasp, and I’ve gotten well into the second boss of Warlord’s solo, but… then I take a long break and play other stuff.
With Prismatic it’s actually much easier to run a good mix of sustain, CC, and DPS in one loadout.
I loved that game and i love the TTRPG. I’d always have to tell people it’s not really a good Shadowrun game, it’s just Counter-Strike with a couple mods. On console. With bots.
Which was, like, the best thing ever to me at the time. I ate that shit UP
That bit about “every designer or artist has a bunch of shit ideas and just picks their best 5%” is SO TRUE. Remember this when you’re doing something creative and don’t feel great about it. Just keep doing it.
