VonReposti, w Pirating Microsoft Office 2019 on Linux?

This might be a stupid question but now that you’re on Linux, why not use something like LibreOffice or Collabora?

_comfortablyAverage_,
@_comfortablyAverage_@lemmy.ml avatar

Libreoffice is the most atrociously structured piece of software I ever encountered. not only is the UI absolutely dated and god awful trash, it can fuck up microsoft office formatted documents. i possess a special hate for it since it decided to crap out on me when I REALLY positively needed it.

don’t know about collabora, will look into it

luna,

If you dislike the UI, you can turn on an MS Office-like ribbon design in the settings

Catradora_Stalinism, w Starfield has been cracked

Imma wait for the fitgirl repack

Schadrach,

fitgirl repack

Looks like it’s already out.

Catradora_Stalinism,

yass already have it seeded

cows_are_underrated, w Starfield has been cracked

Can anyone give me a full guide on how to get this to work on Linux(Arch btw), since I have absolutely no clue on how to do this stuff.

Contend6248,

There are endless guides already written out there, just search for “Lutris” or “Bottles”.

devious,

It’s super easy. I just added it as a non steam game in my library and it worked. It also works on Lutris using a default wine context. I’ve been playing it and I’m on EndeavourOS (Arch)

Did you run into a case where a RX5700 was detected as unsupported?

devious,

No I didn’t face that. And I’m running an AMD 5700 XT

Look into the rentry org Firehawk guide

athos77, w 2023 Paid VPN Relationship and Corporate VPN Ownership Map

So what's a good VPN these days? Torrent support not needed, just want a little privacy.

danielquinn,
@danielquinn@lemmy.ca avatar

Mullvad is looking pretty good. You can even sign up for them through FirefoxVPN and then you’re also supporting Mozilla.

JoyfulCodingGuy,
@JoyfulCodingGuy@lemmy.ml avatar

I personally use Mullvad and love it but it is not conducive to helping seed due to port forwarding being blocked.

LazyKoala,

Surfshark worked well for me for a long time. Lots of servers, works well for unlocking region blocked content and it’s pretty cheap. If you’re into full privacy, I recently moved to AirVPN who accept payment through crypto, so you don’t have to hand over user data except for an email (which doesn’t have to be a real one, you can delete it later).

I use Mullvad. The map says its only relationship is a sisterhood with Firefox VPN (they use the same servers, but different software).

Sharp312, w How to install Starfield

I tried running it with lutris but that didn’t work, I got an error saying I had a non compatible GPU (getting nms release day vibes lol)

In the end I added starfield.exe as a non steam game in steam, and forced proton under compatibility properties and it worked

pazzeda, w How to install Starfield

Unpack the rar, mount the iso, run the executable.

Yes please.

counselwolf, w [ENDED] Giving away TorrentLeech invites. Not selling or trading, they're just yours

I have some free invites to some private servers as well (mainly BakaBT for anime/manga stuff and MyAnonamouse for anything books)

But inviting someone that wouldn’t have a good ratio is bad, right?

alcoholicorn,

It’s fundamentally impossible for everyone to have a positive ratio.

counselwolf,

yeah, but don’t I get a penalty if I invite someone that would have a bad ratio?

alcoholicorn,

No idea. I can see why they’d do it if someone was giving out invites to tons of people who literally do not seed, but you can’t expect everyone to have a good ratio since they must all average out to 1.

I think most of the talk is just to encourage seeding.

mwgreatest, w [ENDED] Giving away TorrentLeech invites. Not selling or trading, they're just yours

Pleeease

Would be really nice to sail away from the pirate bay

ColeSloth, w [ENDED] Giving away TorrentLeech invites. Not selling or trading, they're just yours

Here I’m still using thepiratebay. I could use a different source. Thanks!

Monomate, w Some noob questions about seedboxes

I used a seedbox some time ago to download a specific big torrent (at the time). I payed using Paypal, as I don’t consider seedboxes a low-hanging-fruit for rightsholders to persecute at the moment.

There’s too much redundant data on these services, so if they takedown one user’s data, there’s still lots of the same torrented data on other user’s. I don’t think rightsholders are willing to play wack-a-mole for such infractions.

They’d rather invest their resources on more centralized file sharing, such as big public torrent sites and cyberlockers.

Tadpole7085,

They’d rather invest their resources on more centralized file sharing

Does a popular seedbox host not count as centralized enough?
