Sounds like Nintendo wants to go on a litigation spree.
A related patent defines a mechanic that prevents Link from grabbing an object he is on top of using Ultrahand, which also seems rather intuitive. The patent does, however, go into details such as the mechanic also blocking Link from using Ultrahand on objects which have been joined to an object he is on top of.
The word “obvious” comes to mind.

Thankfully, we can appreciate things that are obvious or aren’t novel without granting a society-funded monopoly on them. In fact, both those criteria generally disqualify them from patent, for good reason.
Good point. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not in support of them getting a patent for it, and I'm against patents in general. I'm just saying I loved it more than I expected, and want to see it more.
Assuming that these patents are all granted, courts will generally treat them as though they are valid and enforceable. However, the bar for getting a patent is generally rather difficult, so it could be the case that none of these patent prosecutions are successful at all. If they get these patents, all Nintendo would have to do is file an infringement against allegedly infringing parties, and then the onus is almost entirely on the responding party to prove either that they did not violate the patent, or that the patent was invalid in the first place. Nintendo loses almost nothing in trying to enforce a patent, and has plenty to gain from the chilling effect that prolonged litigation could have.
@asteroidrainfall I think it's only fair to have a 14 days trial for 1 Euros/Dollars. One month trial period was insane anyway. And just to correct the article or add information; this trial is not only for new subscribers in general, but also if you haven't used it in a months. Then you get the offer again. I did that multiple times (it offers me again for 1 Euro), because most of the time I do not have Game Pass subscription.
$1 for a 14 day trial seems pretty reasonable especially considering if you time it around when you know you have a fair bit of time you could play through quite a few games in that time.
I had done that a few times where there was a game I was interested in and just got a trial and completed it during the trial period making it a very cheap game rental.
Oh man I read this title backwards and went into that article expecting to be angry. I thought it was saying that features from the first Cities: Skylines would only be available as DLC in 2. Very happy it's the other way around.

Cities Skylines is one of my top games, even with loads paid DLC. The modding capability and community make up for it.
Wouldn’t it have been a surprise if it didn’t have them? The way AC was monetized in the past I’d be shocked if they switched back from that without a huge backlash
Are Steam achievements broken for anyone else? All the ones I've unlocked are showing as "0.1% of players have this," even things like finishing the tutorial. Seems unlikely.
I’d actually rather love some sort of different campaign or some adventure packs, similar to how D&D does it with their expansion books.
Either that or a great mod tool that would allow for something like that. Doesn’t even need support for added races, classes or traits. Just a map editor with a mob editor slapped on top would be a gamechanger
That’s what Square gets for failing to read the room. Nobody wants a DMC-like. If they had made it a Souls-like people would love it. Also, this exclusivity bullshit makes you irrelevant. Make me wait years for PC? I can wait longer for a sale. Or forever.
I think the reviews have shown that a lot of people wanted the DMC stuff. But there are only so many PS5s out there, and we live in a world where PC market share has been steadily rising for over a decade.
Even a D&D campaign at this level is hard to DM, I cant imagine the complexity in trying to really gameify this when especially at the end your players are gods.
Cast wish, may as well just let players write their own code for what they want.
Sure bigger stronger enemies are available but parties become so powerful i can’t see it being easy.
I would say just leave those aspects out of the game, or put strict limitations on their usage. You could isolate higher magic abilities to specific items (e.g. deck of many things).
It is complex, however I think if you look to games like Neverwinter as a template for moving forward (absent microtransactions).
