Thing is... video games don't really "need" actors. At least not in the same level as they need writers.
Sure, some games might want to add realistic expressions and maybe even voice acting, but it's not something really required for most forms of video game entertainment. Even story-heavy games do perfectly fine with just good writing. In fact, for RPG universes meant to be extensible / moddable, it makes a lot more sense to not be restricted by how many lines of dialogue can the game afford to voice. Morrowind has a lot more dialog options than Oblivion and extensibility / flexibility in how the users interact with NPCs, despite Oblivion having superior AI and a lot more budget.

In fact, a lot of the videogames that do make use of voice acting, only do so for one (or at most, a few) languages... meaning that there's always some subset of players that don't really understand anything the voices say and still enjoy the game. They might as well be speaking autogenerated gibberish, like Animal Crossing characters do.

Add to that how nowadays 3D animators have a good dataset of information to tap into for creating convincing expressions, plus how AI can be very good at generating decent voice lines... and it gets even harder for a walkout like this to have any success. At least when it comes to the video game market.

I loved that first Wargroove, and I held off on playing it for so long because I thought the changes they made to commanders wouldn't be to my liking. It turns out I actually prefer this to Advance Wars, as it solves a lot of problems with pacing and balance that Advance Wars had. It also had absolutely none of the bullshit that Advance Wars and (at least the old) Fire Emblem games had in their later missions where they'd just spawn new units out of nowhere and wipe out your forces with no ability for you to know it was coming without reloading the save. So imagine my surprise when I went back to read reviews, and they criticized Wargroove 1 for both of those things. I can only sit here scratching my head, wondering if the game I played was very different after patches than what people played at launch, because those were egregious issues in Advance Wars 20 years earlier as well.

Good games make their money back without question. Game prices are actually too expensive.

Oh, I’m looking forward to finally getting to play the DLC! I have the game on PS4, not never bothered to get a 5 because I switched to PC gaming before they were easily available where I live, and now I don’t want one any more.

I’ll wait until it goes on sale, though, since I already paid full price once.

When I had my rig I got a boxing game and it fucking zoomed in and put totally unexpectedly and nearly made me lose my shit. I could only do an hour before my eyes would start to feel like they were going to melt.

I'm still holding our hope they just patch in a shared inventory system slike to the one in wrath of the righteous (or we get a mod for it). Inventory managment has always been a huge chore in DOS1 and 2 and something that would actively hamper my enjoyment of these games.

I really love vr but I can’t play it due to the motion sickness. I’ve tried forcing through it but it never got better.

It's not something you can force yourself through, unfortunately. The only way to get over VR motion sickness is to work up to it.

If you get motion sick after 5 minutes, spend 4 minutes every day doing basic things. After a couple weeks, you'll very likely be able to go about 10-15 minutes. So then spend 10 minutes every day.

The moment you get any sort of motion sickness, stop immediately. Nothing you can do will alleviate it and playing more isn't an option that day.

I do think most people are able to work up to and work through it, but most just try to brute force their way or expect that they'll immediately be able to do everything. VR is analogous to a craft, both vehicle and hobby. While you can just get right into a car or roller coaster and send it, chances are your body needs to adjust and learn a few things about it. And while you can just pick up painting right away, chances are you'll need to practice to learn techniques.

VR is very much a mix of both. Many people definitely can just get right on and pick it up pretty quickly, but that doesn't mean there isn't some amount of necessary adjustments.

Why wiuld any companies trust them at this point…bail, let unity die and set a precedent to other engines to not fuck with the companies that make the products.

I just wish collectively humanity could do the same for these multi billionaire companies who will kill you to make 10 cents profit.
