My friend is a big fan of the series so I messaged him about it…but I foolishly assumed Suikoden would be in my phone dictionary and I accidently sent “The creator of suicide just died”
All valid points and it is perhaps for the best that E3 just ended rather than continuing on as a shadow of its former self. Still, I hope something emerges that fills the void E3 left behind, even if I don't think that is likely. Summer Games Fest is fine, but it's still a far cry from what E3 used to be and all the scattered streams and announcements don't really capture that concentrated excitement you had back when E3 was at its peak.
Presently it seems to be the Game Awards, but that to me feels less complete than E3 was but I can’t really put my finger on why. I guess E3 was usually more than just game trailers (although that was the majority). A lot of them were big demos so you could really get into a game before release.
I watched the Game Awards for this year a few days ago and a majority of them were just 30 second teasers really. I miss the 45 minute live game & hardware demos. Remember Reggie playing a Wii? That stuff was always awesome.
Best example I can think of was the 2018 E3 Cyberpunk 48 minute walkthrough. Even if Cyberpunk was a big disappointment in the end, that trailer was fucking amazing to see.
“Our direction when what we wanted to was make sure players have a way to really be in the world and have an immersive way to travel through the world,” said Sasko. “This is designed to be a role-playing feature.”
Its the same idea for stables in skyrim. Using them isnt ideal for speed, but there are users who prefer getting around via natural means rather than fast travel.
It was modded in by fans well before now, so it’s definitely a wanted feature. People like immersing themselves in the city ambiance, and with good reason. I personally rarely fast travel, or even drive, because there’s usually a lot more to see by just walking around. Convenience isn’t a big priority in a game like this.
I used the modded Metro System for my playthrough along with a mod that adds basic primary needs (hunger/thirst/sleep). Many of my favourite moments were realising it was late after doing a gig, hopping on the metro and watching the city as I rode back to the apartment for a night’s sleep.
Small things like that really help me with immersion, so I’m really happy they added this officially.
I forgot, you also probably want to get a modded timescale. I made my own custom one, but if you use vanilla you risk getting on the train at midnight and coming back home at sunrise. Here are some to choose from if you don’t want to set up your own.
I wonder how many of those sales come from being bundled with a Switch. The report says it lacks digital sales and only makes a passing mention of the bundle
I think this is less corruption and more vanity. There are a lot of charitable organisations out there who will routinely donate over a million dollars. They’ll get a hospital wing or entrance or statue or something named after them. I think compared to those charities, open hand is incredibly small.
My guess is their strategy was to do a bulk donation to get some kind of recognition for their mum. They were probably hoping they’d have much larger sums in a shorter time, and then time just kept on going.
The problem is, that would have been fine if it was their money they were doing this with, but they’re doing these shenanigans with other people’s money, and now open hand is probably done for as a charity.
Taxes are stupid complicated. I imagine it’s perfectly possible that this guy just didn’t know he was supposed to do something with taxes when doing charity. I’d wait for the investigation to wrap up before jumping to conclusions on this.
It’s all out there in the public filings. It’s not a matter of taxes, the issue is they haven’t made ANY charitable donations at all since 2014 despite publicly claiming they were. He may have not been aware of it for some time, but even after he said he discovered it he kept making public claims that his all the money was going to charities.
The money has just been sitting in an account paying administrative fees. The good news is most the money is still there and he has an opportunity to make it right.
