Mirage seems to be doing a great job at being respectful to the culture but I hope for a major game that gets people to change their view of Islam as inherently militant or in any way inferior to Christianity.
Not adding a nonbinary does not make him a transphobe. Not every game, movie or story need a trans sexual character. It’s fair to ask for an addition in a “roleplaying” game (which it is here to be fair), but its not fair to call someone transphobe if he or she does not do it.
Going straight to “you’re a transphobe” undermines the actual fight when real transphobia occurs and fucks it up for people who are seriously being harmed by actual transphobia. You aren’t helping anything with that. Considering the mechanics of the game, I could see where adding the option could take a lot of work. Maybe it does maybe it doesn’t, but that doesn’t equate to transphobia, you’re just being an asshole.
Would it be nice in the base game? Sure, but it’s not there, and speculating that he’s a transphobe because of that seems like a hell of a conclusion to make.
Edit: I should add that the game via its special dialogue tokens, but not in the UI. This shows at least some level of support explicitly added by CA.
I really enjoyed the first game, not AAA new game price enjoyment though. I mean, I got as much fun out of it while playing as I have anything else, it just wasn’t as rich and deep as a fallout game. I give it a pass since it’s establishing a new universe but as much as I liked it, it’s most certainly a blue light special fallout clone.
So, asking inflated AAA prices seems, somewhat short sighted. I’d absolutely pay what I did for the first game, 80 bucks is a hard no for me though. I might buy it when it’s cheaper, but by then I’ll likely have seen enough clips, read enough reviews and gotten busy enough to just forget about it.
I’ll play the game in like 4-5 years like how I played the first one years later for way cheaper. So cheap I couldn’t be disappointed with the writing and just enjoyed the solid but unremarkable game
As long as they remake the original Witcher(and maybe the 2nd one too) so i can experience it in a similarly cinematic way to The Witcher 3… I will be happy and excited to see what a Ciri-based game or even trilogy would look like.
Will definitely miss the masculine indulgences of TW3 in the Ciri game though…
If you’re avoiding the first two Witcher games because they’re somehow not cinematic, you’re sorely mistaken.
Both of those games are incredibly atmospheric to the point of mastery. (tbf you have to be able to forgive the character models in the first game and that can be admittedly difficult because HOLY HELL ZOLTAN ARE YOU OKAY)
Definitely not OP, but I wouldn’t mind remasters of the first game to address the wonky controls. Witcher 2 was fine, but trying to go from Witcher 3 back to Witcher 1 for the first time was not a great experience for me.
Yeah. The controls, the fighting. Even with all the patches and community stuff laid on top, it was a bit too uncomfortable to actually play through for me.
The second one was brilliant. And to this day, despite me having almost 200 hours in Witcher 3, the only Witcher game I’ve actually finished. I think second’s format was perfect. 3 is just too open and beautiful, I get lost in wandering around too easily.
They are remaking the first game, but I don’t know if there are enough details about it yet to know how extensive the overhaul will be. The second game doesn’t need one.
The second one might benefit from a remaster by the time 4 comes out, as some of the models are a bit too XBox360 era, with the strangely wide shoulders and oversized arm muscles of the time
Ciri has a relationship with a woman in the books, so I’m not sure you will miss what I assume you’re referring to as “the masculine indulgences” as much as you think you will.
On the other hand, CDPR retconned a shedload of that book so we shall see.
I once paid $140 (just pre-pandemic inflation) for a meal with two drinks at a fancy restaurant for a friend’s bachelor party. It was delicious. At the same time, I realized that no one meal, no matter how good, was worth that price. I don’t know what the threshold is for how much I’ll pay for a single video game, but $80 is more palatable to me when the game asking for it isn’t Mario Kart.
I’d gladly pay 80 bucks for games, Ive paid way more than that in 40K, Warmahordes and Advanced Squad Leader.
If digital games would give me the same kind of “ownership”, like full access to the code and free reign to modify the rules sets as well as spreading those changes to friends and strangers I wouldn’t hesitate to spend similar amounts. However digital games, even physical on disks, has too many limitations as riders for that price to be motivated
I wish we lived in a world close to that one, and maybe someday we’ll get there. Guilty Gear Strive’s source code just got leaked in its entirety, so complete that it can just be loaded as is into the Unreal editor, and a lot of people see this as a bad thing rather than the game ascending to immortality.
The Plus R community have been begging ArcSys to release the source code for a long time—hopefully, this will push them to reconsider their stance on open source.
