In my opinion, the fact that so many of these competing devices run windows just ruins them out of the gate. The fact that you can cleanly suspend and resume games on the Deck is its best feature by a mile, and I’ve yet to see any windows-based device manage to even come close to doing that reliably.
That’s fine, the steam deck is already fast enough as is. What I’m mostly interested in is a next gen steam controller for docked Gameplay. One with the same controls as the deck (Dual Analog) and also has USB-C, also since it would be more easily available than the Old Steam Deck controllers which you can only buy used and in ever increasing scarcity.
Given that I just bought one and am waiting for it to arrive in the bloody mail. I think that’s fine.
Also, I’m okay with playing less intensive titles regardless. If I wanted to be immersed with high fidelity stuff I’d use my gaming PC. I also chose the Deck over the Ally and Legion Go due to software integration and hardware repair options.
I have an XBox One S (and a PC) - really hits home when in Game Stop with my kids and they were looking around (mainly for figures and such), and i’m like “there’s nothing for me here”. Of course I haven’t bought a physical PC title in over 10 years now that I think of it. I feel for the shop owners, they haven nothing for me to buy and I used to like going to shop around. Come to think of it I used to go to book stores quite often too, but not since i got my first kindle.
I did recently re-buy an Xbox 360 and it is kind of nice to browse second hand shops and such and just pickup a game that I can just play without internet etc.
Six months ago Cohen didn’t give a flying fuck about disc drives because he was selling the idea that you would soon buy all your games from GameStop on an NFT marketplace that they recently had to shut down because the SEC is cracking down on NFTs as Securities.
He gives a fuck now because his golden goose got shot in the head.
That's what do as well. While I was desperate waiting for BG3 to release, when it finally arrived I was totally overwhelmed by the game. It is really heavy weighted. The shear mass of possibilities and consequences makes it hard, at least for me, to relax without fomo.
I’ve been saying forever this system is stupid as hell, you should have either a 100 percent chance to steal something or a 0 percent chance, so that you can’t save scum
This game had so much potential, the combat was fun, the powers/weapons you got were unique and felt punchy and powerful. The flying was amazing, and when you popped your super and everything around you just evaporated into charred metal and meat chunks? Whoo, that shit was fun.
But the gear upgrade system for everything but weapons was very lackluster. The micro transactions were front and Center, and you really didn’t get many free options to look cool. The prices were laughable for what you were getting. And as fun as the combat was, it didn’t make up for how little content there actually was. You get a piddly squirt of what could have been. And what’s there is repetitive.
It had great bones. With a fresh team it could have been phenomenal with what they had already. They just didn’t try.
