Unpopular opinion: AC 3. I loved the new ship mechanic and the story twist.

nogooduser, do games w Jedi Survivor could have been great

You’re right about the glowy baseball bats but I think that Jedi combat is a tough one to pull off well. You can force pull any of the lower enemies into a one shot with the light sabre as it is and there’s no reason that you shouldn’t be able to do that with all human sized enemies that aren’t force users except that it would make for a dull game.

The loot is shit but I don’t know what more a Jedi needs other than armour or blasters but they don’t really use them. It is very weird that I had to find something in a box for me to get the idea to not shave my beard so close.

ModernRisk, do games w Jedi Survivor could have been great

Glad to read this post, tampering my expectations for Jedi Survivor.

I’m currently busy with Fallen Order and struggling to push through it. Platforming is fun but (for me) the story feels a bit meh and the map is awful. Debating to put down Fallen Order and just jump into Jedi Survivor directly. Since people told me, it isn’t necessary to have played the first game.

PunchingWood, (edited )

The maps from Fallen Order (specifically Zeffo) were one of the biggest complaints that they fixed in Survivor. It was an absolute hellhole to navigate and shortcuts were often hard to get by.

Survivor is practically by all accounts a big improvement over Fallen Order, although I think I enjoyed the bosses in Fallen Order a little bit more, those seemed a bit more challenging than in Survivor.

Edit: I’d recommend finishing the first game though, the final act is quite amazing and while it isn’t necessary to have played the first game, the story in Survivor still connects to stuff that happened in FO a lot.

MrScottyTay, do games w What is your favorite Assassin's Creed game?

I just finished 1 for the first time in a very long time. I really enjoyed its simplicity and wish we got that gameplay loop again but with the mechanics of at least 2

Currently playing bloodlines before moving onto 2.

I think looking back, I really enjoyed brotherhood the most, but I also think my time with its multiplayer is giving me rose tinted glasses. Revelations’ ending is my favourite of all of them and I still think of it to this day.

I also don’t think 3 is as bad as everyone says. I really enjoyed Connors story and climbing trees, but desmonds end makes me resent the game somewhat, especially since to me that marked the end of my interest in the series. Playing through 4 confirmed it because after that I didn’t play anymore due to it feeling like there was no overarching story to keep me wanting anymore.

creation engine quests are too easy to break as the game gives you lots of freedom to mess with progression and characters, eventually someone finds another edge case

if you dont test the fuck out of them they will bug out in some way

Story: II / Brotherhood / Revelations

Character: III / Rogue

Setting: Black flag

morphballganon, do games w What is your favorite Assassin's Creed game?

2 is the only one I completed. I enjoyed it.

YungOnions, do games w What is your favorite Assassin's Creed game?

If you liked Odyssey then I’d recommend Origins. Not played Valhalla but it’s in the same open-world vein. People rate Black Flag highly, and the Ezio trilogy, but these are more the ‘traditional’ AC games so not open world in the same way and less ARPG-like than Odyssey. The multiplayer on Black Flag is great to, but not many people playing it these days.

Road_Warrior_10,

Thanks, sound like Origins is the one to play next : )

YungOnions,

It’s good, I enjoyed it; however it would be remiss of me not to point out that Ubisoft is a hateful company, run by a hateful man: gamesindustry.biz/ubisoft-has-reportedly-made-min…

Oxygen Not Included. it’s just a constant stream of entropy-driven-crisis mitigation.

my current issue is that part of an oil field deep underground briefly became too hot and since then my base has been slowly filling with toxic sour gas. the only way to get rid of it is to turn it into methane and sulfur by cooling it to -160 degrees but i don’t produce enough hydrogen to run the thermal nullifier.

Electric_Druid,

Currently on day 600 on my current file. Still having power and heat regulation issues. Some things never change!

Hugin,

You can always vent the gas to space. Door crushers work great if you don’t mind exploits. Sour gas is useless until late game.

You should liquid lock your base to prevent unwanted gases from getting in.

My best tip for oni is after 4 dupes the number of dupes is the difficulty setting. Grow slowly.

@lime@feddit.nu avatar

i’m like 1400 cycles in on this run :P got eight dupes and just passed a million stored calories, have infinite air, water and copper, so i feel like i should be able to do something about it

Hugin,

I’d shot for supercoolent next. With that and a proper counterflow exchanger a sour gas boiler is just a lot of construction.

I gave up on it for now when the questline involving the NPC learning to write broke, and then I started crashing to desktop (without any logs anywhere, either in the Buffout directory or even in Windows’ Event Viewer) every time I left the Swan or fast traveled directly to it, even though traveling to another point literally fifty feet south worked just fine. And since there’s no logs describing the crash, I have no idea how to fix it.

I could probably fix it by uninstalling and re-downloading it again, but I have a goddamn data cap that my roommate already blows through every month with the fucking massive updates Fallout 76 has taken to pushing out, I have zero desire to download 60 GB of data (30 GB base game + 30 GB FOLON) every fucking time I sneeze wrong and make the game start crashing again. =|

a_wild_mimic_appears,

regarding the large download, there is a girl which is very fit and likes compression a lot which reduced the total download size to 38 gb, if that helps. also, you can reinstall from that as often as you like without redownloading.

Probably a spaghetti code mod on top of an already terrible game engine. It was bound to become buggy. Even Bethesda themselves can’t be arsed to fix their engine and games.

Project Zomboid, because being surprised attacked or swarmed by zombies scares me

You do know 7 days to die? A lot less deadly, first person and much more base building. Still overall a similar concept.

I don’t know it, I’ll check it out. Thanks!

CrabAndBroom,

Yeah I really like Zomboid because no matter how established you are, it only takes one fuck-up or unlucky break and you’re done for. So the fear never really lets up.

I actually had an experience in that game that I don’t think I’ve ever had in a game before - I was sneaking around at night looting houses, and I got to one house, perfectly normal looking and some instinct in my brain went “nope, there’s something bad there” and I just walked away and went home lol.

Everything is fixable with console commands-

First, try force dismissing broken companions, you’ll need to get their refid first though (so maybe load an older save, or just search for the refid with the help command - ie. help mountbatten 4 npc to search for ‘mountbatten’ in refids that are classed as ‘npc’)

For reference, since I have it written on a post-it in front of me, Mountbatten is 082c1edc (08 may be different if londonworldspace.esm is in a different slot)

To force-dismiss Mountbatten-

<span style="color:#323232;">prid 082c1edc
</span><span style="color:#323232;">setconsolescopequest followers
</span><span style="color:#323232;">emptyrefalias companion
</span><span style="color:#323232;">setplayerteammate 0
</span>

To move Mountbatten to you-

<span style="color:#323232;">082c1edc.moveto player
</span>

Try to get Mountbatten to join again normally, if he doesn’t, to force-enlist a companion-

<span style="color:#323232;">prid 082c1edc
</span><span style="color:#323232;">setconsolescopequest followers
</span><span style="color:#323232;">forcerefintoalias companion
</span><span style="color:#323232;">setplayerteammate 1
</span>
DarkSirrush,

Console commands should not be a requirement to play a game that they claimed was in a releasable state. Also, some players are on a steam deck, where console commands are difficult to make use of on the go.

Breezy,

Theyre making a Bethesda game full of bugs. Seems pretty spot on.

Factorio on death world settings. If not stressful enough install the rampant biters mod.

LongboardingLad, do gaming w Are acer laptops unreliable?

I have two Asus gaming laptops. My G74SX from 2011 is still trucking along great. It’s not much for games anymore but great for Stardew Valley, browsing, and movies. My Zephyrus M16 is good overall with some complaints. I will throw out that for the same price of a gaming laptop, you can build a PC that is more powerful. You can even get a pre-build that will last you longer than a laptop. If you’re dead set on the laptop though, I’d recommend an Asus. The hardware is great but the software fights you a bit
