Mirror’s Edge was a fine game, but it never matched up to it’s best OST song: Warning Call

HiT3k,

Chvrches is just so f***ing good, and their live shows are way better than you might expect. Their track on Death Stranding was also great. Hoping we get another for DS2.

EmergMemeHologram, do gaming w Ghost of Tsushima's DLC Iki Island is the best part of the game

I loved GoT, agree it got repetitive, but it was also one of the first games I bothered to get all the collectibles in.

I couldn’t get into the DLC but maybe I should try again.

BeardedSingleMalt,

I was really into the game before the end of the first island but really started hating that there was a mongol group every 100 feet on the roads, and that even if you roll to dodge an attack if they’re mid-air lunge they will seemingly change direction mid-air and still hit you.

I took a break partway into the 2nd island and I’m still skittish about restarting because of how repetitive the game seems.

knokelmaat,

Honestly, I fixed this for myself by seeing each Act as a separate game (and DLC as game 4) and playing other games for a while after “finishing” each one. This way it feels fresh again :)

OttoVonNoob, do gaming w What's a good co-op RTS for the Switch?

The Rabbits mario RPG is Xcom MP I think? Maybe Google just in case though.

I did play that one for a bit! I was kinda thinking of something maybe a tad darker though. Maybe Fire Emblem?

not mp unfortunately

loops, do gaming w Mini Monitor Recommendations

I haven’t personally tried them, but there are a lot of monitors on Amazon that are meant for Raspberry-Pi’s. I was looking at them myself but I instead decided to get an old monitor for free off of Freecycle. I made a post there and a bunch of people offered a bunch of old ones they weren’t using any more (like the ubiquitous Samsung 720N).

Also, I already have a second monitor but it’s too narrow for discord; as in the window can’t be made small enough. Maybe it’s just a GNOME thing, but I’m not sure discord will ‘fit’ on those small screens.

brownmustardminion,

Good idea. I was leaning heavily towards those raspberry pi monitors.

IrritableOcelot,

Ive used those, they all seem to be pretty similar in hardware and work fine. Might be out of the range of scaling things to a “normal” size with built in OS scaling settings, but still usable. I was expecting the color to be terrible, but in my experience it’s fine.

I like skyrim, but completing it is kind of missing the point IMO. The draw is to install a whole bunch of new mods and see if the game still works.

I probably spent longer trying to get mods to work than actually playing the game.

Seconding 8bitdo.

Very satisfied with mine. Not the ultimate, but the SN30 Pro+. Has no issues connecting to my PC or switch, no mechanical issues so far either, after about 4 years.

@bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de avatar

Aunty Ethel’s lair is a non-rest area in act 1. And I think there’s also one in the Githyanki crèche. And short rests are allowed. And by that time I usually have a few of those potions that are essentially a long rest. Or a short rest with benefits. And there’s a restoration pod in the mindflayer colony.

Son_of_dad, do games w Has Bowser finally turned good and gave up on hunting Peach?

I remember back in Mario rpg he joins up with Mario and his crew, because his castle was taken and he was left with nothing. So he’s been a reluctant ally at times, maybe even against wario.

I finished (again) God of War 2018. I thought it was going to sour on me, just like how my 2nd playthrough of Horizon Zero Dawn did (and subsequently my 1st playthrough of Forbidden West). But no, it’s still a very good game. Combat is simple but still satisfying, side quests aren’t excessive like Forbidden West, story is still good but less intense than TLoU. My only complaint is that the fast travel is just way too slow. I’m looking forward to Ragnarök now.

Here are some games that I really enjoyed playing/replaying last year- FINAL FANTASY XVI - Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion - Live A Live - PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo - Tactics Ogre: Reborn - The Case of the Golden Idol - Voodoo Detective - Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising - Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona - Sword of the Vagrant - Tail Concerto - The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble - Wild Arms - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Ys: Memories of Celceta - Zero Escape Trilogy - God of War

My top is probably FF16, I have soft spot for this type of siblings story, also loving the Asura’s Wrath section.

AgentGrimstone, do games w What's your favorite game you played this year? (Doesn't have to be released this year )

It’s hard to pick. None really stand out that much from the rest but probably Ghost of Tsushima or Chivalry II.

rmuk,

Geometry Dash. It’s the only game I played this year. So far, at least.

TinklesMcPoo,

Replying to agree with your position on GoT. Kept trying it after it first released but some other game would always come up and take over. While I loved tears of the kingdom, Spiderman 2, and a slew of other releases this year, GoT strands out for me. I’m terms of gameplay, story, and definitely visuals. While not perfect in everything, it was amazingly good in so many ways. Glad I finally got around to it. Now to keep hitting that back pile of unplayed gems.

On a bit of a side-scrolling trip these past few weeks: Mario Wonder, Metroid Dread, Yooka-Laylee, etc.

The two big(ger) games I’ve played this year are Street Fighter 6 and Mario Wonder which are both fantastic. I haven’t played BG3 or the latest Zelda or any other major releases, but my partner and I were all in on SF6 for weeks. Wonder, though, is a great throwback to what made us both start gaming: very easy to pick up and play, things to collect, and a tiny bit of grinding.

Gartic phone has been the most consistently entertaining game i played this year, but that is probably because i only ever played it 3 times(3 gamemodes) yesterday.

I also played Celeste this year, which was really fun

brenticus, do games w What's your favorite game you played this year? (Doesn't have to be released this year )

Chants of Sennaar. Thought it would fun, turned out to be probably my favourite thing I played this year.

BG3, TOTK, and Vampire Survivors are all very up there as well. Really great year for games.
