I was able to get this for half off via some weird QVC deal (I don’t know if it still exists), so it’s sounding like $35 or whatever is currently a good price for an average game.
It’s a word-puzzle game that incrementally teaches you how to use Regular Expressions (RegEx) to find & replace text. Some of the puzzles add silly restraints for you to work around, and the game has charming NPC coworkers that introduce each challenge.
Never heard of it, and sounds awesome, regexes are the sort of things that need lots of practice to be good at, a game seems like a great way to keep the skill alive
Underhero is a RPG. There is (bad) 2D platforming and an interesting blend between turn based and real time battles with decent amount of player expression, but I find most interesting the writing and scenarios you will find yourself in during the game. You play as an Underling after the Hero has an unfortunate accident after all, and while technically a silent protagonist, all entries in the journal/hint system/to-do list are just brimming with personality.
I swear I first saw this game in list of “Paper Mario-likes”, but I can’t find a single video with that topic that mentions it, and now I realize that it only has like 600 reviews on steam.
Tin Can is a space survival simulator, where you are trapped in an escape pod after the loss of your ship. There are a few systems in your escape pod, and each system has components you need to look after. Your pod regularly flies through astoroid fields & other space phenomena that break these component parts forcing you to repair, replace or do without the systems keeping you afloat.
I did mention in the rules, if it was good enough to actually be your game of the year, you can make an exception. (I’m trusting that doesn’t mean we see Baldur’s Gate 3 on top or something)
Sonic Riders, the currently dead Sonic racing spin-off. Don’t have any experience with the third entry since I’ve never used a kinect, but building/branching off of Zero Gravity would be amazing.
i want the Just Cause series to continue on from the second installment but instead of focusing on the movement, focus on the world building and setpieces. the plot in JC2 is completely batshit insane and ends in a fistfight atop a speeding ICBM. they kinda just forgot about that part in the sequels in favor of adding tornado guns or whatever.
Does it play like the first one? If so, I’ll just go read a plot synopsis. The gameplay was so dull and frustrating for me in the first one, but the story was good.
I find the game plays a lot better than the first one. I played the remaster recently and found it a bit of a slog to get through but absolutely adored the sequel
The gameplay is similar/ the same. You have a light and a gun/ shotgun. Though the game is much more about the immensely dark atmosphere, storytelling and characters played in it. Honestly the game has some great shock-moments. I played it in PC with mouse and keyboard and the controls were (butter) smooth in my opinion.
Don’t forget the very first Alan Wake was released in 2010. So the gameplay will feel dull and lackluster in comparison to todays gaming standards. It’s unfair to compare the two games due to the amount of years and technological advancements of today.
You can watch a video or read synopsis but you’ll do yourself a disservice.
Thanks! I’m no stranger to old games, so I don’t hold the age against the first one. I just know I wouldn’t have fun if the actual gameplay (not the story elements) was largely the same.
I might watch someone play the first hour only, to see if it fits my playstyle.
NFL 2K. NFL 2K5 was so good and scared EA so much, it led to the EA/NFL exclusivity deal and the death of the entire football game genre for the last few decades now.
Bopl Battle is a hilarious party game for up to 4 people. The rounds go really quick so it’s a great game to play with friends when you have a limited amount of time, but the fun doesn’t wear out fast either.
Had to downvote, but the game is great. I play it with my kids and it is reliably hilarious. There are so many interactions that something surprising happens with amazing regularity.
