This is more arcadey, but I recommend giving Cave Story a go. The story is rich, the worlds deep. It’s a great game. It’s not the same genre, but for me, it has a similar vibe.
Try F-Droid, there’s some good quality games in their listing, and it’s a lot more transparent than the Play store.
There’s also a lot more indies (whether new or old) that have made it to mobile, like Stardew Valley, Terraria and Dungeon Clawler, so it’s worth checking out the “premium” category on the Play store to find some decent games too
Emulators are where it’s at on Android, at least for me. There’s a handful of good native android games but you can play so so many fantastic old games using emulators.
So many, depends on the booted OS and what I feel like or what the kids feel like playing.
Currently doing a mix of Quake 2 single player (100%ed it on nightmare but I keep coming back to it), Half-Life deathmatch (hilarious with the kids as we try to lay out traps for eachother), Reflex Arena, Planetside 2, Age of Empires 2, OpenRA, Fortnite (kids love it so I play along), Ion Fury, Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Last 3 are story modes, so they take long. Only Ion Fury is linear though, so it’s easier to come back to.
Check out the site dark pattern games, it shows a list of games and their “dark” side like money and time wasters. They also show the “healthy” side of mobile gaming as well
Is that board game multiplayer? I loved StS, I might be able to get my partner into a physical version.
We picked up Lorelei and the Laser Eyes last week and have been slowly working through it. Interestingly styled and it feels a bit abstract so far, but the puzzles are enjoyable to figure out! VERY glad the mc has a photographic(and menu to access) even if the controls could be better
Yes it is! It’s coop which was why I got it. My partner and I got into mtg a bit while visiting her family for the holidays and thought a coop deck builder would be a fun thing to have, and I love sts so it seemed like a no brainer. I will warn the game is quite expensive and sort of hard to find but if you can get your hands on it I highly highly recommend it!
I for instance ordered mine from a game store in Illinois even though I live in WA. I believe more reprints are coming through
Oh, maybe I’ll save it for a birthday gift then 😅 we’ve been playing a bunch of Clank! which is fun but the digital edition is super buggy in pass and play. Thanks for all the info!!
