For me it was the opposite. Loved the base game, heavily disliked the DLC. The entire poison and hallucinations felt widely out of place, and it got in the way of exploring. The constant need to use the adaptive triggers was annoying and added nothing. But most importantly, the story about Jin and his father did not grab me at all. The uncle one was much better done, imo.
In the end, I ended up skipping it.
I liked the monkey boss fight and its armour, though.
I don’t know if it has a LAN specific option. but If you are both playing on Steam or Epic, it supports multiplayer/crossplay between the two platforms. Though you don’t access it directly from the home screen. Play through the beginning tutorial section till you reach your home base, then one of the buildings you can interact with is the multiplayer menu.
No LAN is a no-go for me lately, for multiplayer games. I'm tired of games being designed with forced obsolescence. Sometimes you get lucky and the game has LAN but doesn't list it on the features, so I figured I'd ask.
sorry to get back to you super late on this. Roboquest doesn’t seem to have a traditional LAN setup without some sort of modding. I did find out recently that Lethal Company does have LAN multiplayer if that isn’t already on your radar. Good luck.
Chvrches is just so f***ing good, and their live shows are way better than you might expect. Their track on Death Stranding was also great. Hoping we get another for DS2.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’d play the hell out of BG3 when I was 12.
The amount of time I spent on TES 4 and 5 back then, and BG3 hits just the right spot with the variety of ways it allows you to play it.
Minecraft is also in my top favorites.
What I’m saying is, don’t count BG3 out completely. Not to mention that it’s very saturated, so a shorter attention span shouldn’t really be a problem, but you never know.
As for suggestions. Definitely Terraria, as others mentioned. There was also Lego Fortnite, which looks like it would fit the tastes. Maybe also party games?
Fucked if I’ll ever beat Nethack without wizard mode.
Death Stranding is another, though for a completely different reason. I know there’s some super cool fun shit somewhere in there; but getting through the first few hours of the game to get to that point is so boring I always end up putting it down before getting to anything worthwhile. And that’s with actually thinking the walking system is pretty kick ass.

Cobalt Core. I absolutely love this game and can’t wait to get off work to go play it. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and I love deck builder games.
Edit: For 2024 you can look at my wishlist if you want here.
Holy fuck is there a lot of content in Cyberpunk 2077. I remember when the game came out people complained of it being as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle but those people can fuck right outta here. It’s chock full of interesting stories to learn about and tons of fun gameplay. Same goes for Phantom Liberty which takes countless hours to get through.
I get that cost does not directly correlate to play time when it comes to video games, but it’s hard for me not to gawk at how this game was sold for the same price point of the yearly reskin of <insert corporate slop here>.
No, the irony of how CyberPUNK was almost ruined by corporate interference is not lost on me, but it’s clear that the developers, artists, writers, programmers, and designers behind this game are true masters of the craft.
This year, I’m most looking forward to playing through it again after I’ve taken a good couple months off.
I enjoy Cyberpunk quite a lot too, but if you're going to criticize the depth of the game, it's not necessarily because the writing is subpar or anything. It would just be a reflection of how differently the game can play out with different builds. It's a little better now with the 2.0 update, but the designers still very explicitly allowed for a hacking option here, a strength option there, and so on. Compare that against something like Baldur's Gate 3 where you're free to break all sorts of rules by just casting flight or invisibility on your party and solving a problem in a way that you came up with that the designers didn't go out of their way to plan for. The latter is real depth. A deep RPG should probably feel like your experience was pretty different from others' experience.
That’s fair. I guess I read the criticism like they were saying the game lacked the depth of the Witcher 3 which I would say is far from true. They’re roughly the same imo
Alisa is a great horror game that uses pre-rendered backgrounds and plays very much like an old Resident Evil game. It even opens up with a pretty nice FMV intro.
One big difficulty of it is that there’s one finite currency used for buying upgrades, weapons, health, and ammo; and you’ll likely be strained if you avoid buying the latter.
Mindustry. I expected Mindustry to be a Factorio clone, but it’s uniquely fast-paced and messy. I find it difficult to tell the buildings apart, though, so I may have to hunt down a graphics mod.
Beyond All Reason. I really enjoyed Planetary Annihilation, so this seems like a natural pick. I’ve barely sunk my teeth into it, but I’m impressed so far.
