D-pads are the one aspect of a controller that I wouldn’t worry about much. I’ve only ever had one controller that had a D-pad that I wasn’t happy with, a Logitech in the mid-1990s that had a screw-in mini joystick on the D-pad. That rolled to the diagonal too easily.

Maybe the old NES controllers, which had a relatively-hard, non-rounded D-pad and could be tough on the fingers for long sessions.
I guess one could prefer the PlayStation-style or XBox-style D-pad position, though I’ve never had issue with either.
Do you have something in particular that you’re concerned about regarding D-pads? I’d expect pretty much anything out there to be fine, myself.
A decent example of a bad d-pad would be the Switch Pro Controller. Unless they’ve fixed it in a later revision, the controller has an issue with outputting diagonals when they aren’t intended.
Idk why. Well, I do know why: I grew up in an era where Flash games started to do physics-based gameplay, and something about that just made them endlessly replayable and easy to do while focusing on something else like a lecture or whatever.
So many games these days demand your full attention. And that’s great, when you have time for it. But if I just have 45 minutes to derp around while I catch up with friends on Discord, I can’t dive into an epic boss fight that I was prepping for a month ago.

Personally, I don’t care if balatro is popular here, the pegi 18 rating will impact sales 0%. Also, FC24s gambling should be banned EU wide or the rating of the game should be upped to 18+. Better yet, we should use this Balatro slip up from PEGI to get FC24s rating to be revised to 18+

I have a lot of games which were enjoyable 100% of the time, but none which I played for over 100 hours. I’d be absolutely exhausted if I was in “oh neat haha wow!” mode for that long, personally, my dopamine receptors would be fucking fried.

Outer Wilds may be obvious to anyone who has played it, but it would be a shame to leave it unmentioned as it is my favorite game of all time and seemingly universally loved. And Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is just stupidly entertaining - impossible to stop once you start playing.

Of course! And it’s actually Outer Wilds I’m referring to; I haven’t played Outer Worlds yet so I can’t comment on it. They have very similar names unfortunately so it’s easy to mix them up.

The 100 hour mark is a tough one to hit - even some of the best games I’ve played aren’t that long or replayable, and the ones that are usually cost more than $10. Still, here are some to check out if you want. I’ll list the price on Steam in Canadian dollars and my current total play time.

Ori and the Blind Forest - on sale for $6.24 - 23 hours
Risk of Rain 2 - on sale for $9.56 - 81 hours (new to my library, less than 1 month)
Risk of Rain 2 is amazing, though one thing to hold on to is that the newest DLC had some issues (amazing that a game so old is still getting attention) that you might want to wait to get fixed (since it still affects the base game).
I’ve heard about that and through multiplayer have been able to experience it. Honestly I prefer the base game without either DLC. Even the Void DLC is too chaotic for my taste.
The void items are pretty good (and the lunar items are pretty bad), but i did enjoy the new DLC - I didn’t really experience many issues, but figured it would be worth explaining that it’s expected to get a lot of fixes in the coming months and might be worth waiting to see how fixed before buying.
Definitely a great coop game, along with Heroes of Hammerwatch
Considering how simple its premise is, Another Crab’s Treasure seems pretty basic, like its story doesn’t have much left, at several points. People online gave some takes that four boss fights from the end, they thought each one would be the final boss.
Far Cry 3 also did this well. You finish the skill tree, do the last few missions where the increased power slides the difficulty down…and then it turns out you unlock a whole other island to make use of your full ability tree in every encounter.
