brsrklf, do games w 11 years after launch, 49M people still use their PS4s, matching the PS5

I sure do. A lot of it is Beat Saber, but it is quite a lot.

I’ll get a PS5 in like, 4 years. Maybe. If I find something I absolutely need on it.

Katana314, do games w Why there are 861 roguelike deckbuilders on Steam all of a sudden

Oh. I wouldn’t know - I have the Roguelike tag filtered out.

It’s extremely rare that the habit of constantly getting reset to ground zero for little mistakes gives me any sense of adventure.

Drummyralf,

I find that with the roguelikes where you upgrade in between runs, losing still feels like winning.

But to each their own of course.

Nikls94, do gaming w No one needs this cryptocurrency-powered Steam Deck competitor

Ah okay. So no refund or re-wind if my account gets hacked and someone spends all my money. Because you know that’s blockchain

Fenrisulfir, do astronomy w [Eric Berger] Seeing this eclipse is probably the highest-reward, lowest-effort thing one can do in life

Nuhuh. I tried planning a trip a month ago and everything was sold out and airfare was astronomical. I’m gonna plan a trip for the Spanish one in 2026 a year early

kalkulat, do astronomy w The US government seems serious about developing a lunar economy
@kalkulat@lemmy.world avatar

Sure, why not? It’s not like we have any other pressing issues to address. Let’s keep pouring 100s of billions into the right pockets and press on.

threelonmusketeers,

“Por que no los dos?”

Humanity can pursue multiple awesome endeavours simultaneously.

atzanteol,

NASA’s 2024 budget is around $25 billion.

By comparison Apple’s revenue for last quarter was around $120 billion.

Sidyctism, do gaming w Valve: Most games made with AI tools are now welcome on Steam

So we are moving from shovelware to excavatorware?

Honytawk,

No, we are just moving with the times.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Valve: Most games made with AI tools are now welcome on Steam

Given how many companies have been embracing AI tools it was really only a matter of time until they were allowed on Steam. At least you'll know before hand if you're going into a game with AI-generated content.

ScruffyDucky, do games w CEO Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024

I hear there is a job opening at Unity /s

Epicurus0319,

Knusper, do gaming w CEO Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024

…and just like that, all of the issues and shitty work culture at Activision Blizzard disappeared and they lived happily ever after.

MJBrune,

Hey, why is that rug so lumpy? Like everything was just swept under it.

@ulkesh@beehaw.org avatar

I think we could have done a lot of things a lot better.

No shit, Sherlock. Not fucking over your client-base, for one. One would think he’s not fit to be CEO of cow shit after this douche was previously in charge of EA during some of the worst years of that company.

There are alternatives to Unity. Time to move on if possible.

BluJay320, do gaming w Report: Unity considering revenue-based fee caps, self-reported install numbers

They did too much damage already. They’ve lost all developer trust, and deserve to crash and burn for this

Nioxic, do gaming w Linux surpasses the Mac among Steam gamers

My kid got a pc. I installed linux on it.

I installed the exact same distro on my pc, as well as the same software, so i can attempt yo troubleshoot if needed.

So far its been rock solid. It runs pretty well too, despite it being an i5 4570
