Bioware is (was) actually many studios in a trenchcoat - Bioware Edmonton (“old” Bioware, ME trilogy, Anthem), Bioware Austin (Sw:TOR, DA: I) and formerly Bioware Montreal (ME: Andromeda) and a bunch of other smaller teams.
Though almost all of the veterans have left, so it’s now kinda a Ship of Thesius type situation, Bioware only in name.
Diablo 2 is still in my top 5 games of so time, so I’m absolutely on board for whatever those devs want to try next for an ARPG. Diablo 3 and 4 were both good in different ways, but I feel like Blizzard has never been able to match the atmosphere and overall feeling of D2. So far, POE 2 has come the closest and it will only get better as time for on. By the time this comes out they’re going to have to do a lot to compete with a mature POE 2.
That’s an understandable take, I hope that when he drags himself out of the ashes of his failed company, dusts himself off, and starts a new company when his bankruptcy ban expires, it’s a scooch more ethical to start with.
The good thing about this is that all his money can’t buy a good result. Each game has to stand on its own two feet. If it costs millions to make, and still sucks, it will sink without a trace.
Dave the Diver is the only game in this list that I have played and would not recommend. That game gets really grindy, but has a fun loop for the first couple of hours.
The pace drove me a bit mad. So much stuff front loaded with all kinds of things in play, then you reach a point where they want you to wait X in game days for a crucial item so it grinds to a halt
