Way back in its beta days, a couple of mates couldn’t put it down. They couldn’t explain why digging holes was fun nor placing cubes. I really didn’t get it after a demonstration from them. Eventually had a LAN with a mate that was vaguely curious but also didn’t think it was going to be interesting.
We didn’t sleep for the next 36hrs, nor notice it was a new day until my family got up and started making breakfast.
Did you two play much afterwards? I’ve played a few times with friends but I find it usually fizzles out after a couple months then it’s just me who hosts occasionally messing around.
Fully the same here. Sometimes I get bouts of inspiration to hop on the server or organize to do something with the group we have, but always fizzles out after a few months as you say. Which is fine really, a lot of other good games I tend to circle back to over time just like minecraft.
Havant played myself, but two twitch streamers I watch started with the Xbox copy and the load times were brutal. The steam version, apparently, felt much better to play reguardless of story quality.
That’s a shame that even a 30 year-old studio is just one commercial failure away from closure, even when part of a larger company. Then again, Volition’s output after Saints Row IV has been pretty middling… So it’s not that big of a surprise that they were on the chopping block.
Seems like the description of “No Man’s Skyrim” was a little off the mark. :( Not as in depth for space stuff as No Man’s Sky, or as story based as Skyrim.
Will be interesting to see how it evolves over time though!
Eh, for me, it has story and apparently I can romance people and shoot stuff. So it’s already up there for me. But can totally see how people will feel different. Especially if you felt any hype for this. Me however has had no hype for Bethesda games after fallout 76
I’m using Geek, they’re pretty good so far. I’ve found everything I’ve searched for on them. I don’t even search trackers anymore, with how fast and efficient Usenet is compared to torrents.
I’ve started using alldebrid. It technically is torrents but not using my home network so I don’t need a VPN anymore. I use RealDebrid Client with my alldebrid account and it works with all the *arr services. Most torrents I can download at my full ISP speed.
I know it’s not what your asking for but just throwing the idea out there.
Usually you do not have a static IP anyway. Sure you could probably backtrace the DHCP of your ISP to the date yout that IP got issued…But that is IMO a bit overly paranoid.
Though to be fair’ I don’t know why they don’t like VPNs for signups. Most likely to enforce IP based bans for not following rules or for entire banned countries.
If you don’t really care about the rules, just do it on signup but don’t connect US -> DE but instead US -> US. That way they may not care enough to enforce rules.
One tracker even mentioned that the rules are there. Some are strictly followed (like naming rules), while others are not followed as strictly.
It allows for managing indexer/tracker from only one place for all *arrs. I usually set the apps to “Full Sync”, so I never change anything in each of the apps (e.g. radarr).
It also provides some statistics, like how many file grabs each indexer gave you compared to others. This might help to decide which of the paid ones are actually useful (useful for usenet indexer).
If your not resource constrained (e.g. rpi), I’d recommend prowlarr. It makes things more streamlined imo.
I’m not the OP, but I had wondered the same thing. After already seeing up the other *arr’s I couldn’t work out the point of Prowlarr.
Re your comment about resource constrained, I have just started using Sonarr and Radarr on a Pi4. They seem to work OK. Had installed but not set up Prowlarr yet. Hopefully that wouldn’t slow things down if I used it to sync the other apps.
My point was mostly about the added RAM usage if running prowlarr (or any other additional web server). It’s probably not an issue with Pi4s since they have more RAM. I’ve seen prowlarr use quite a bit CPU while syncing, but that was only for a short time.
