Tekken8 reignited my love of fighting games as I used to play tekken3 all those years ago. The rampant cheating effectively encouraged by the company behind it prompted me to buy street fighter 6 and what a great game it is

Dhalsim is amazing! It’s great how you zone your opponent, shoot them out of the air when they try to jump you and so on, then when they least expect it you teleport in their face and rush them down. Feels so good when it works. Anyone else here playing fighting games?

Drummyralf, do games w What games run well with integrated graphics?

Basically all the classics from yesteryear… Check GOG for some great vintage games:

  • Rollercoaster Tycoon
  • Age of Empires II definitive edition
  • Sims 1/2
  • Neverwinter Nights

Also check out myabandonware.com. Many free legal old games, some of which are great.

Some more “recent” titles:

  • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
  • Portal /Portal 2
  • Binding of Isaac
  • Vanpire Survivor Many, Many other indie games

Also check out anything 3rd party released for Nintendo Switch. Most of those pc counterparts would probably run on a laptop.

If you’re into emulating, SNES, GBA and N64 classics can be played.

ViscloReader,

I think you meant age of empires 2 hd edition. Definitive edition is the recent title which is way harder to run (at least for me)

Drummyralf,

Hmm interesting. DE is definately the better port, and minimum requirements were an intel 4000 chip, so I figured it would run on most laptops by now.

I guess you could always download the original from Archive.org. you would need to patch some stuff (I recall the water textures not working well on modern hardware) but should still work :)

Simcity 2000. I am a huge fan of Blade Runner and Simcity 2K has a very Blade Runner esque soundtrack and I’m LOVING it. I never picked up on the Blade Runner aesthetics in SC2K until recently, particularly after watching the movie for the most recent time. Sure, I played it as a kid, but I didn’t watch Blade Runner till i was an adult, so revisiting it now made it very fun. I made a cyberpunk city with high crime, a large focus on commercial zones, and building only the Plymoth and Draco super buildings.

its_me_xiphos,

What a great game and great memories for me. I remember, as a kid, building this huge coastal city and putting signs down to buildings I thought my grandmother would like and showing her. She loved architecture so it was always a nice experience for me.

with my 10-year old laptop with Intel HD4000, I can run almost any GameCube or PS1-era game. XBox and PS2 run with limitations. 3DS and PSP also work great. the most I’ve pushed my laptop was Elite Dangerous on lowest settings. played for hundreds of hours but took many breaks since the laptop would overheat and crash

caut_R, do games w What games run well with integrated graphics?

Anything with pixel graphics or at least no 3D graphics. Slay the Spire, Spelunky, Super Meat Boy, Stardew Valley, I bet Rayman Legends, these kinda games.

3D graphics can run well too if the game‘s sufficiently old (Half Life 2).

The Starcraft series (I enjoy playing RTSes casually)

Slay the Spire

I’ve been chronically obsessed with Hypnospace Outlaw…

anakin78z, do games w What game do you recommend someone who likes the mechanics but not the setting of Baldur's Gate 3?
@anakin78z@lemmy.world avatar

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has similar top notch graphics, and somewhat similar mechanics, but with deck building added. I don’t remember if there’s a class system.

If you like the d&d mechanics, check out Solasta, which I like a million times better than BG3. The graphics aren’t as good, but it’s also not as gore/horror focused.

I thought $40 Canadian for phantom liberty was a lot but, after playing it, it was worth the price. Erdtree could very well give a similar experience but I’m going to wait for some reviews before I consider getting it.

Kattiydid, do gaming w What games make you happy?

I’m surprised no one has mentioned The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild The new game, legend of Zelda tears of the Kingdom, is good but it doesn’t give me the same happy fuzzies that breath of the wild does. Stardew valley is another happy simple game. If you’re looking for the challenge tingles, dark souls is always fun. XD
