The gaming space may have changed but I’d say it’s because you changed.
You brought in your decision the “worth playing”. Is this game worth to buy or is this game worth my time. When you can give your time a value, you can also compare it to what you are doing and if it’s worth to do that.
I tend to not really do that too much, because gaming is a hobby. If I start to compare it to what I could earn, well it doesn’t give the most “value” in monetary gain or maybe knowledge gain. But that is why it is a hobby for me, not work.
On the other side, is it worth playing? What is the comparison? The price? If you like the game? For me, if I can enjoy it, and come back to it, even if it’s very long (Warframe for example is the one where I have the most hours played), well it’s worth playing to me.
Tho some games are very expensive for the experience they give and some are really s* recently (gollum *cough) and those are not worth playing.
And is it worth playing compared to your other games? Maybe, maybe not? If you wait you can get discounts (at least on pc), and increase the value. And play your backlog in the meantime.
I think that playing the most recent games can be enjoyable but not always the best “value”. Tho I still play “newer” even if I have the backlog, which I use as a filler between releases and “patient gamers” style.
I’m part of the club! Although tbf I haven’t touched it much since getting it about a year ago (I just haven’t played that much retro stuff these days or most of it has been with my Super Nt).
One great addition I got recently was a 3D printed grip case, it made long play sessions sooo much more comfortable (obligatory “not affiliated” and I’m not the one making these, but I really like the quality which is why I’m linking it here).
As far as what I’ve been playing on it recently… really just pick up and play, SoR 2 or Turtles in Time, but I completed Metroid Fusion (first time) a few months ago on the Pocket (that’s what made me get a grip case, it really wasn’t too great wrt shoulder buttons comfort).
Tried to play this with my wife some years ago. We kept getting sent to separate instances. That and the poor quality graphics at the time were a deal breaker for us.
My sister and I had that problem when she started playing. What you have to do is group up and use the wayshrine to travel to them. Even if you’re in the same zone, travel away and travel back and then you should be able to see each other. Hope that helps!
The game is a lot better than when it first came out. Hope you’re able to try it again. Yhere are also reshaders that you can install to make your game look prettier. Give me a holler if you need help!
If anyone has any questions I run this magazine over on kbin! Its lacking content, but that partially cause no one is there to discuss with. I post PvP clips just to get stuff out there but would love further discussion. I do endgame PvE (no perfectas because I'm not a fan of longterm progs) and run with one of the (arguably) best ball groups on Xbox/NA in Cyrodiil.
I like exploration and generally mucking around in a MMO; this is why I like base GW2 instead of the expansions (which had me dying a lot). If I wanted a challenge, I'd do WoW raids or play a Souls-like.
Personally, I couldn’t get through the main and faction stories because of that. I liked the stories well enough, but getting through them was so tedious because I couldn’t even use all my skills. I don’t know how end game is, I have one max lvl character with a bunch of cp, but I rarely play an mmo for end game content.
If they had like a difficulty slider for the open world content, that would be enough to make me return, but I don’t want to shut down my brain while leveling, that’s not fun at all!
I got mine in the first batch over a year ago and it was defective but they got me a replacement fast. I’ve barely touched it since I got it though. I hardly have time to play video games anymore.
I probably have played like 3000 Threes games over 3 different phones over the years; it’s still my favourite Commuting Game of all time, and indeed probably one of my top 5 games of all time. I have never beaten it and probably never will.
2048 can’t hold a candle to Threes and it upsets me that people remain mostly ignorant of the latter’s existence.
My friend and i dreamed up a Zoids mmo, whered youd create a pilot and could fully customize a zoid. Itd have a huge open world with places to explore and fringe pvp areas where good loot was. It would have arenas where pro matches would be held from mlg players or whatever and youd be able to watch the streams live either at the stadiums or through streams on in game tv’s. Winners would get real cash prizes.
I feel like the MMO Star Wars Galaxies was close to it. Some people didn’t fight at all. They just were entertainers, or medics, or just made items to sell. Every thing was uniquely made. Some sellers sold stuff like crazy because their quality was so good, others struggled to make a living off of it. It was so nuanced.
And there were very very very very few jedi. I mean, I think I saw a couple in the entirety of the game after years of playing. There were very specific things each character had to do to even unlock the possibility (and no one knew what their unique unlock was). And they couldn’t easily go into cities…bounty hunters would be alerted that there was a sighting.
You could build cities with your guild and your own houses, store all your gear there. Your city could grow and you could have shops in it that people could stop by, or you could build a transport center in your city and people could use it to travel around the planet.
Your faction was based on what you did, not a pre-destined thing you chose in your character creation. Some people stayed neutral, and others went down one path or another.
It was honestly, still to this day, the best game I’ve ever played.
wow, im almost glad i wasnt old enough to play that when it came out, because it looks like a game that would have taken over my life completely lol. that is insane and ive never even heard of it before
Its actually still available through private servers. The graphics aren’t terrible considering it’s age, but it’s definitely not up to modern standards.
