It depends, am I going to be a washed up disco star or a car obsessed binoclard?

I‘d probably die in the French revolution

Z4rK, do games w Human Brain Cloud

That’s cool, interesting to see how many of my connections are new.

I’ve always been a big fan of visuwords.com, which have a similar visualization, but with structured connections based on grammar.

Damaskox,
@Damaskox@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah this link of yours focuses on a bit different thing.

It generates a bigger picture of many words connected to one single word entered, and the other words are more or less synonyms. I believe you also don’t add new stuff to it?

(Just want to point out) In the Human Brain Cloud, synonyms ain’t the only thing that might connect two different words or concepts with each other. The link between words depends on the person who interacts with the words. There can be many different bridges what we have between different concepts that create an association with a word that the Human Brain Cloud gives (feelings, memories, knowledge of many different topics…)

Z4rK,

Yeah visuwords is more like a visualized view of the grammar and synonyms for a word in a dictionary and does not allow any new input.

Brain Cloud is instead an unstructured approach that lets you build new connections between words and contexts and to provide new knowledge. I like it.

Could be fun with some additional input where you could for example provide a thumbs up / down if you feel the association is positive or negative.

Damaskox,
@Damaskox@lemmy.world avatar

Would these negative associations be hidden or deleted?

And what if someone didn’t feel that something that was flagged as negative was negative?

SomeGuyNamedPaul, do gaming w Do you prefer playing with Keyboard or controller more, and for what type of games?

Controller: Witcher, Cyberpunk, Senua’s Sacrifice, Shadow of War/Mordor

Mouse and Keyboard: Diablo, things that end in “Craft”

HOSAS: Flying things

I spend all day at work with a keyboard and mouse, so I try to use a controller for absolutely everything else

Thelsim, do gaming w Do you prefer playing with Keyboard or controller more, and for what type of games?

It really depends on where I play. Behind the PC it’s definitely mouse and keyboard, it just doesn’t feel comfortable to play with a controller while sitting in my office chair.
Everything else is controller, but it’s not like you have much choice in those situations :)

Steam deck user here. I’ve done with it what I couldn’t achieve with even the Steam controller: preference for trackpads + gyro for pretty much everything (FPS included) except for hotkey heavy action RPG’s (Dragon Age, Witcher 2, etc).

I don’t play RTS anymore. I had a falling out with them around Supreme Commander days.

I want Total Annihilation 2. I enjoyed Total Annihilation, but Supreme Commander never really clicked. Just didn’t feel like a sequel.

I’m with you.

I haven’t played it but there is Beyond All Reason, which even riffs on Arm and Core.

Ah, that looks neat, thanks, may have to give it a go. Yeah, it looks like it uses the Spring Engine, which was originally intended to be an open-source engine to run TA. I’ve played Zero-K, which is another game running on the Spring Engine that also aims for an TA feel. Wasn’t really aimed for a sequel so much as bringing back TA, though.

aeki,

I honestly wish we had a steam controller that was more like the deck. I could never really get used to the Steam controller while I love using the deck. Can’t really put my finger on what it is about it though.

uninvitedguest,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

As do I. I’d chalk it up to the asymmetry of the Steam controller. Lack of a D-pad, lack of a right analogue stick. The Steam Deck back buttons are also far better, and 4 is twice as good as 2.

Really depends on the game. I usually get a lot faster and more precise adjustments using KBM, so I prefer that for games like shooters and anything where precise 3d movement or fast reactions is an issue.

Basically the only games I play with controller are the ones that are really well optimised for controller and kind of meh for KBM and the ones on my Switch.

Lileath, do gaming w Do you know any good JRPGs with engaging gameplay similar to SMT?
@Lileath@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Does it have to be a JRPG? If you want tactics in your turn-based games I recommend looking into cRPGs as the genre originally started as adaptions of tabletop games and has way deeper tactics compared to most JRPGs. Stuff like the Baldur’s Gate games, Dragon Age, Wasteland, Divinity: Original Sin 1+2 or Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura are all turn-based or real-time with pause which work similar enough to count. As a plus point most of them allow you to be rather creative in the way you play from stuff like talking an opponent into killing themselves to turning opponents into chicken and letting them bleed out with another skill.
