I introduced mine to undertale and other stuff like cuphead, old school sonic games and SNES emulators. We dont care about latest Mario’s, but he does have odyssey.
It’s not really cheaper, and I can use my VPN for other things. Torguard with promotional price is $30/year. I got a dedicated IP so I can open ports with it. Used them for almost 7 years, upload about 1TB/day
Well I’m making myself a deal, starting today, no more gas station trips for soda. If I can make it the month and start riding my bike again, I’m getting a steam deck.
And will emulate the fuck out of switch games. Kiddo already has a hacked switch.
Games are digital, much less production costs. Widely distributed, far greater than 20-30 years ago. Efficiency has gone up ten fold with modern tech. Nintendo still makes billions in profit each year, don’t play the “they deserve more money for their work” bullshit.
There’s a hundred different versions of amazing Mario and Zelda games that you can play already with emulators and on an old switch/computer/steamdeck. Wait till the new one is emulated, don’t enable Nintendo to do this shit.
This household will be migrating to steamdeck or equivalent. We’ve invested too much into PC games and moving our main desktops to Linux, it only seems right. I’m tired of supporting companies that don’t care about us, only our money, and even then slap you when you’re not looking.
Only recently has steam gotten better at this. I’ve got my account, my kids account, and a 3rd account that owns games we may want to play, so that it doesn’t tie up either of our main accounts or if we want to have a guest use it. (all are shared to each other). Until last year, it was not super easy sharing them all, lots of logins, authorizations, etc.
