simple,

When you accidentally touch a full HP pickup when you have 99 health

simple,

Like the Mario 64 recompilation, this isn’t running on an emulator, but is totally native. That means it runs smoother, has zero issues that you might get from emulation (like inaccuracies), and makes it so much easier to mod and extend it. You can see some of the features on the page like autosaving and playing on high framerates.

simple,

Emulation is almost never 100% accurate, that’s why seemingly perfect emulators like Dolphin still get updates. They mimic the original hardware as closely as possible but there are still bound to be some bugs and games that don’t work perfectly. The best emulators are more like 99.9% accurate.

N64 emulators aren’t that good, so you’ll get occasional graphics errors and crashes.

simple,

Yeah, having a proper camera for Mario 64 was really huge.

simple,

I’m pretty sure that was the beta version of this update. The stable version hasn’t been updated in years.

simple,

XeSS doesn’t rely on specific hardware and is still better. It matters.

simple,

That’s awesome. Did you ever get complaints that kids would break everything in the house because of this game?

simple,

LOL. At this point I think they’re copying Pokemon out of spite. They form a new company (like The Pokemon Company) to manage the IP, backed by a large corporation (Sony instead of Nintendo) that is separate from the development team (Pocketpair vs Gamefreak)

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

simple,

Minecraft is a special case. They promise a lot and what we got is a version of the game that’s microtransaction hell. Texture packs, mods, maps, etc all cost outrageous amounts of money in the console/windows10 version of the game. The community is mad because they’re clearly spending way more money on making content for the store than doing any actual updates for the game. The most we get is something like a new mob every six months…

simple,

Nothing that bad, but the updates are insanely slow and the roadmap of things they promised in 2021 took 3-4 years instead of one. At this rate the game could spend a decade in early access.

simple,

As far as i know the full game is entirely playable without spending a dime more than the price of the game.

That’s not the point, they took something that was free and community-driven and locked it down so you can only install things from the store where everything costs money. Only specific people even have access to make mods in that version.

as it is what bankrolls the studio to keep pumping out free updates every year.

They’re not a small indie company. Mojang earns hundreds of millions of dollars per year. They can afford to do something with the game other than pumping out dozens of microtransactions a month. They could optimize the good version of the game but actively choose not to. They promised a proper modding toolkit for the game but never made it because it would harm their paid store. The game practically lives off its modding community and in the last 10 years they’ve done nothing for them.

Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable? angielski

I recently booted up Half-Life 2 to replay it. I have played the absolute shit out of this game before, so 60% of it just feels like a drag to me now. It was such an amazing game but it’s sort of spoiled for me after I’ve played it too much....

simple,

Even if one gets bored of the game itself, there’s a practically infinite number of mods and community content out there. New game modes like skyblock, mods that turn it into an RPG with magic systems, mods that make it an in-depth factory building game, mods that take you to new realms and thousands of items to discover… There’s a lot to enjoy.

Adventure maps are also fairly underrated. There are tons of community-made maps that can turn it into a different game. Notably, there was a huge Hogwarts campaign with quests and spells that turns it into a harry potter game: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKcsoE5X4fc

Factorio: Space Age Expansion Releases October 21 (factorio.com) angielski

We plan to release Factorio: Space Age expansion on October 21st 2024. The reasoning for this date is that it will give us enough time after summer vacations to polish the release, while also leaving enough time afterwards if we need to do bugfix patches before the Christmas holidays....

simple,

Is the first Rolling Sparks change just removing that bug where you free aim it at the ground to cause it to deal all it’s damage at once?

Yup. They also apparently nerfed how it works, so even aiming in a straight line won’t deal much damage to large enemies.

simple,

It’ll be delisted but should still be downloadable to anyone who owns it IIRC

simple,

I’m still missing AI and Metaverse on mine

Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals angielski

Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn’t appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!...

simple,

The greatest tower defense game ever made, really. It’s seriously impressive how it appeals to very casual users and the most extreme fans that want a challenge. I also really respect that, while the game has some mictrotransactions, you can’t use any of them on the hardest difficulty.

simple,

I really enjoyed this one. It’s a bite-sized Metroidvania that isn’t super special, but it has some fun gimmicks and doesn’t overstay its welcome.
