giant_smeeg,

Fuck yeah! I’m still waiting for Broken Veil (The original devs)

giant_smeeg,

Yes, I still prefer 1 but it’s great. Has ray tracing too.

giant_smeeg,

I was the other way! I never heard of the first game. Then I see the trailer for number 2 and then played both.

Is it wrong to pirate movies I've purchased digitally and load onto my Plex server? angielski

Just would like to have a discussion on the topic. I’ve purchased around 20ish movies/shows on Vudu, and my wife has grown to be unhappy with Vudu’s UI and especially how the watch progress works. I am curious what some others thoughts on this are. My initial thoughts are I recognize I’ve purchased a license to watch the...

giant_smeeg,

Its wrong they bought it in the first place…

giant_smeeg,

Never played it but the passion in this video… might pick it up. Looking for something to play between now and starfield

giant_smeeg,

Definitely will play this.

Loved the newer doom games and absolutely loved Prodeus, so should love this too.

Question is do I play switch, PS5 at 120hz or PC with mouse.

(I have a kid so that list is order of how much I can play them)

The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 17-08-2023 (lemmy.world) angielski

Have you been spending hours trying to pass a level? Or maybe you are completely addicted to a newly bought game. Do you have a question about a game or would like to share something else? In the Weekly Discussion Thread, you can do it all!...

giant_smeeg,

Nothing. Really want to play the outer worlds but with starfield just around the corner I don’t want to burn out.

giant_smeeg,

Can you steam windows games? Had a kid so I’m going to have to stream Starfield to my laptop

I’m in the UK, so some of this might be UK centric:

Podcasts

  • Digital Foundry Weekly, Weekly podcast discussing gaming news/hardware etc (If you know DF you know what this is)
  • The Crate and Crowbar, PCGamerUK used to have a podcast and these guys move to this. Few friends talking about games and it’s decent (not overly technical or in depth, more just mates chatting).
  • IGN UK Podcast, absolutely love the personalities on this, it seems more like some mates chatting with a bit of structure (less like the IGN ethos of pushing as much out as possible).
  • VGC, Again a few mates chatting about games, good production values and I value their opinions.

RSS feeds

  • Eurogamer.net features, similar to DF, but they cover decent articles about games.
  • Uppercut - Features, doesn’t post often but has well thought out articles about games and they’re a joy to read.
  • Polygon - Feature, interesting articles about films/games. I don’t read them all just ones interesting or relevant to me.
  • Rock Paper Shotgun features, PC Gaming articles that explores interesting questions about newer/popular games.
  • IGN Feed, All the feeds above are features where it’s not just regurgitated news that spams your feed, they’re well thought out. Well IGN isn’t features, it’s just gaming news. I hardly read the artcles, just scroll the titles.
giant_smeeg,

Yes I love it.

Pick all your favourite news/content/podcasts/youtube and set them up in an RSS app.

Then it’s all in one place, no visiting multiple apps/websites. It’s just there ready to go. You can then easily keep track of what you’ve read, haven’t read and saved.

giant_smeeg,

Definitely setup RSS. Can just keep everything in one place. Lemmy, YouTube and Mastodon also support RSS feeds

giant_smeeg, (edited )

Plex oxenfree if you can just because it’s free and wicked.

giant_smeeg,

Yeah, the whole piracy crackdown situation is so stupid.

I pirate a lot of media, if you added it all up it would be a lot of money (if I was to buy everything). The difference is, before I pirated I barely bought any of the media.

  • I pirate some games that i’d never buy. I buy all games I want to support.
  • I pay TV licence, netflix and amazon. I pirate tons of TV series because they aren’t on those services. I literally can’t buy some of them and if I could i’d need about 10 different streaming services.
  • Films, I pirate a lot of films. Before I pirated I never bought any films, i’d either wait for netflix/normal TV or just not watch them. I still go to the cinema for big releases.
  • I subscribe on patreon, github and donate to LOADS of projects, many of which i’ve pirated first or obtained a copy of (books are a big one here).

If you were to objectively look at the value of the pirated media, it would seem that i’ve “stolen” or studios have missed out on lots of revenue, but the truth is I pirate a lot of media, just because I can.

giant_smeeg,

IMO all movies and series should be available on any platform and let the streaming service decide if they want to have it in their portfolio. Only the “originals” should be locked to a platform to keep stuff unique.

That’s just cable though. Not sure that’ll be any better. The second a company sees a revenue stream or thinks they’re missing out. They monetise it to the detriment of the customers.

giant_smeeg,

I would say 80% of the games I pirate, I put less than 30 mins into it.

giant_smeeg,

Half speed. Then played at normal speed for 120fps play through videos.
