No, you’re right. And combined with the easy refund you get from Steam for example, which would make it basically a trial period, there are a lot of possibilities.
I was thinking more about very long games that you’re not sure you really will be convinced after only 2 hours. On a Persona for example, 2 hours is nothing, you’re not even going to pass the tutorial.
Of course a demo is not forced to be at the start of the game, but some games are hard to showcase 😅
On the other hand, I’m just realizing that we are talking about an actual rental model, which we don’t really have at the moment. Gamepass is a subscription model, which is quite different (and not in a good way)
So yeah an actual renting model could be cool, depending on its pricing of course.
It’s not just that. It’s also that the second hand market is really not there anymore. There are a lot of games that I know I’m only playing once, in this case it makes sense to buy it, then resell it. But it’s not really feasible on PC.
In this situation, a rental market does make sense. And it also allows more easily to test games you probably wouldn’t have bought. I played Persona 3 this way for example.
To be fair (and I used to like the gamepass. I recently started to change my mind on that) the PC offer for gamepass is better and less expensive than the XBOX
Yeah I’m French, and during the game there are several moments where I’m hearing part of some lyrics where I’m “wait a second, is the music actually spoiling the plot?”
And to be fair, most of these games would still be challenging at a lower difficulty. I expect that the late game bosses of Lies of P would remain difficult in the second difficulty setting (maybe not as much in the first setting, but for now we don’t know what to expect)
Although I’m confused, why did you include Nier Replicant and Automata? Automata has already a complete version, and Replicant already had a remaster/remake/director’s cut version 3 years ago.
You’re correct. In addition you could strafe using left/right C buttons, and you could look up/down using up/down C buttons, but that was awkward and not really designed to aim.
But we also must remember that those games had an auto lock system. Your character would actually target the ennemies by himself, you would only use the crosshair to dona headshot when you have time to aim, or to aim at a specific object in the game.
But yeah, that seems so clunky compared to what we have today
That reminds me of people saying that The Sims 4 has “gone woke” when introducing romantic preferences a few years ago.
That was completely stupid on so many aspects (including the fact that this meant that Sims used to be pan, so they were complaining about the possibility to make a straight character?)
Can’t talk about the others, but that’s kinda what happened with Triangle Strategy. It was presented as “Project Triangle Strategy” when it was first announced, and the title was officially a working title.
Then it was officially released as “Triangle Strategy”
I think something similar happened with Bravely Default, but not sure about that
