donuts, do games w PS5 Pro is struggling to improve some games, despite its power advantage

So 2 out of 50 games aren’t really improved, aka 4%.

Turns out you can’t just throw better hardware at every game to make it run better, who would have thought.

donuts, do games w Nintendo sues a streamer for streaming ten games before their release

Follow the source of this article (in this case Polygon, yuck) and you will find the original info:

It’s seeking $150,000 for each alleged violation of Nintendo’s rights outlined in the Copyright Act and $2,500 for each alleged violation of the Copyright Act’s anti-circumvention and anti-trafficking provisions. Alternatively, Nintendo also could elect to take “actual damages,” i.e. money it’s lost, and Keighin’s profits, “in amounts to be proven at trial.”

The key here is $152.500 per infringement. So if he streamed at least 50 times in the past two years, that’s $76 million at least.

And that falls straight back into “normalcy” (for Nintendo).

Yeah he’s got balls. Also an idiot, but still.

According to the document, Keighin sent a letter to Nintendo in late October “bragging that he has ‘a thousand recorded channels’ to stream” and that he will continue to use them.

Don’t think he was intimidated

donuts, do games w Yakuza creator Nagoshi says the era of game size being most important is coming to an end

You right, my thoughts trailed and I added that last bit even though it didn’t have to do with it, idk why.

donuts, do games w Yakuza creator Nagoshi says the era of game size being most important is coming to an end

Weird. In the West, we’ve been welcoming small(er) but interesting, unique or otherwise impactful games regardless of its size. Complaining about Warzone taking up 250GB on your hard drive and stuff. And that was 2020.

donuts, do games w I don't think it's possible for me to complete this Steam achievement

It’s not even their progress, it’s the percentage of all the people that have access to the game: steamcommunity.com/stats/2884590/achievements. So it’s probably worse

donuts, (edited ) do games w I don't think it's possible for me to complete this Steam achievement

I mean, it’s like a hobby. If you are unlocking them with a program you’re just cheating on yourself. If you feel like you need to cheat to make yourself feel better about something that doesn’t impact anyone else, then I think you should reflect a bit on that and ask yourself why you wanted it in the first place.

But that’s just like, my opinion, man. It doesn’t really harm anyone in the end. I just think achievements are used as carrots on a stick, exploiting the human psyche of “number go up = dopamine” to make the player think the game has more value than it does, or is “worth the price” because you got so many hours out of it (grinding for those last shitty achievements).

donuts, do games w I don't think it's possible for me to complete this Steam achievement

These achievements are just filler, preying on the people who feel bad if they don’t get them all.

You can see in your own screenshot that 0.1% of players have completed it. So yes, it’s possible.

Worth it? No.

donuts, do games w Random Screenshots of my Games #45 - Subnautica

If you feel like you need more guidance, don’t hesitate to look up a guide or for tips on how to get the most out of the game. If you’re willing, of course.

Subnautica is one of those games where it needs to “click”, and this moment is different for a lot of people. For some it never happens. I will say there is a scanner room you can get to scan for resources, but that will probably not sway you.

I’m not gonna tell you to keep playing because it will get better or something, but I want to address one thing: Subnautica is a game about exploration and discovery. If you do not enjoy these elements in a game, or get motivated by it, then you will probably miss the complex lore hidden in the logs or you will not value it as much as you could have.

Satisfactory is less of a crafting game and more of a factory automation game, so this might be another reason.

Might I suggest trying out Techtonica? It’s like a mix of Factorio and Satisfactory in the sense that you build factories, but it’s more on a grid and stuff is a lot smaller than in Satisfactory. I mention this game because some elements reminded me of Subnautica (like distress signals to find) but it doesn’t have the survival element to it.

Speaking of survival: you can turn that off in Subnautica. You could try that. But again, if discovery and exploration isn’t your thing, it would just put more focus on the feeling of aimlessly wandering.

donuts, do gaming w SteamDeck TOP Played list.

ITT: people who think Balatro is so good they don’t even need to spell it right. They’re right though.

Now that I have your attention, check out Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers if you prefer blackjack over poker. Or Solitairica if you enjoy Solitaire. Should run like a dream on Steam Deck as well.

donuts, do games w Ubisoft boss says it knows players think it has an 'inconsistency in quality,' so it delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows to flip that script

I agree on 2070 and 2205. I really enjoyed them and I chalked it up to me liking sci-fi enough to be able to bear it.

donuts, do games w Last-minute PS5 Pro leaks indicate system will pack 16.7 TFLOPS GPU with 16GB dedicated GDDR6 VRAM — plus 2GB DDR5 system RAM

I think you can expect about the same as with the PS4 Pro. Maybe finally this time it will be a smooth actual 4k (ok actually, UHD) gaming experience. But that’s kinda what we said last time too, so I don’t know.

Developers would still have to optimize their games to get the most out of the hardware, unless we’re talking about a game that was already performing suboptimal and throwing raw power at it will hide the surface level problems so it looks smoother.

I would love to see all this horsepower being used to actually make the games better by design, like pathfinding and NPC behaviour. The last big breakthrough we had was raytracing, which proved that it wasn’t photorealism that makes it look better, but accurate lighting and shadows. For the consoles it was using an SSD for almost instant loading times.

But I digress. I’m not upgrading my PS5 either, but I can see the value for power users that play competitively or something.

donuts, do games w Expedition 33 Dev Confirms $50 Price Is Correct, '30+ Hours of Main Game'

What a world we live in, where cheaper games are seen as less quality because the theory of capitalism has conditioned us to believe higher quality = higher price.
