Weirdfish, do games w When was the last time you actually laughed while playing a game?

Laughed at the humor in a game? High on life had some really good stuff in the opening hour.

Laughed at the situation in a game? My recent play through of the ever chaotic madness that is Far Cry 2.

Weirdfish, do gaming w What game changed your life?

It is one of the most addictive games I’ve played, and yet, I have learned more from it than almost any other.

Programming has been a core part of my career for about 20 years, and I can’t think of any other time I’ve had such leaps forward as I did in the first few months playing factory.

It really is a great visual representation of large scale systems management.

That said, it can be one hell of a time suck.

Weirdfish, do gaming w What game changed your life?

Kerbal Space Program changed how I understand space flight.

Factorio changed how I approach programming

Modding original Doom and GTA vice city taught me 2d and 3d graphics as well as hacking and programming.

Weirdfish, do games w what are in you're top 3 favourite games of all time?

Going to have to go with the three that had the biggest impact on me.

1: Doom / Doom 2. In addition to being two of the most influential and important FPS games of all time, they got me into modding, programming, the internet, 3D graphics, shaping my entire future career path.

2: Kerbal space program. No moment in all of gaming had me leap out of my chair and whoop the way landing in the Mun for the first time did. Now that I understand orbital mechanics, I get annoyed at almost all depictions of space flight in movies.

3: Factorio. Got to this one late, on Switch about 6 months ago. I can’t think of any game which has rewired my brain as much. As a programmer, I come away from each play through with entire new methods of solving problems at work. May be the single most in depth and addictive game I’ve ever played.

Weirdfish, do games w Microsoft cancel Perfect Dark reboot and shut the developers down in the name of "continued success"

Yeah, can see that question is vague. Lots of remakes / remasters in recent years, some amazing, and some garbage. Didnt want to invest in this and be pissed off about it.

Watched a few youtube reviews and sounds like something I’d enjoy.

Weirdfish, do games w Patient Gamers - Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?

Start deprived w master key.

Dual scimitar, composite bow, and a buckler. Lot of focus on parry and fast bow game play.

About 2:1 dex / end, no other points in stats aside from one in str to use the weapons.

Black leather set at +6 to offset no vitality.

Basically a Link glass cannon.

Scimitars can parry in left hand, and have a fun flippy move set. Will likely add the flip ring for style, and a divine club for the catacombs.

Currently lvl 53 w 45 dex and 23 end, and just reached the Anor Lando archers.

Back to Dark Souls 1. Tried so many challenge runs over the years, I decided to just have a casual play through with my favorite build.

Is it a good port? I really enjoy turok 2 on PS4, would love to play perfect dark on something better than an N64.

Weirdfish, do games w Catchiest video game song?

Suicide run, Mass Effect 2.

Weirdfish, do games w ‘If it’s the only place to play Mario, you buy it’: Former PlayStation boss reacts to $80 Nintendo games

It’s the only platform I have to play it on, and switch doesn’t support the new space age expansion.

It did get many of the 2.0 updates, like the extended belt reader, free circuit wires, and all inserters are filters.

As far as acceptable, I love it. I’m sure I can’t build the crazy 10k science per minute monstrosities I’ve seen on youtube, but I’ve never really run into an lag issues with the bases I’ve built.

Weirdfish, do games w ‘If it’s the only place to play Mario, you buy it’: Former PlayStation boss reacts to $80 Nintendo games

When I bought the switch I called it my $500 zelda machine.

I also have factorio now.

If a new mario, zelda, or factorio is available on switch 2, I’ll buy one.

Weirdfish, do games w Ubisoft says you "cannot complain" it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren't "deceived" by the lack of an offline version

That’s my argument, release the server code and the fans can host them.

Take your servers down, move on to your new games, but give us the tools to enjoy what we bought. It costs them nothing.

Weirdfish, do games w Are there any games you don't play as it was intended to be played? If so, what game and how?

I don’t think anyone plays factorio the way it was meant to be played.

With the new belt reading mechanics, I’m trying a single sushi belt play through and have made it as far as blue science so far.

Weirdfish, do games w What’s a game you can 100% without hating by the end?

Two games I have platinumed on PS4 that I still go back and play are Subnautica and Kerbal Space Program. Not sure if you mean 100% as in like scan and collect every item, or get all the trophies, cause I don’t think I’ve ever 100% a game in that way.

Weirdfish, do games w What’s a game you can 100% without hating by the end?

I’m glad to hear this. Bought it at launch, on PS4, which I understand had some of the worst problems. Maybe one of the most disappointing games I ever got after all the htype. Gave up after maybe two hours because of all the bugs.

I now have a PS4-Pro, and keep wondering if its finally time to give this game another go.
