SenorBolsa, do gaming w It shouldn’t be this hard to play old Armored Core games

360 games require original hardware unless there’s been some breakthrough recently. They use their own kinda weird dual layer DVD format.

SenorBolsa, (edited ) do gaming w Your Opinion on my Game Idea
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

The only thing that would really need to happen desperately to make it accessibly is to either have a fun and easy to digest primer or to make the language much more layman friendly to start and introduce technical or slang terms as you go.

“There is a sequence of N unsorted and unknown numbers. You can compare, whether any number is greater than any other one by specifying their positions in the sequence. You can swap two numbers, save copies of them on a stash, and replace any number in the sequence with stashed ones. Try to sort the sequence of unknown numbers with as little operations as possible.”

I know what this means, but I had to read it 6 times to get there. Though I think this wouldn’t be task 1.

SenorBolsa, (edited ) do gaming w Bethesda claims that the Intel ARC GPUs do not meet Starfield's PC minimum requirements
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

Yup, it’s not in the specs that it supports intel graphics.

These days it’s expected that any directX/Vulkan supporting card can run just about anything with varying levels of performance, back in the day it was very very specific what a 3d game engine supported. If your card wasn’t on the list it wasn’t going to run outside of software mode unless the newer version of that card had backwards compatibility features. Also later on you had to worry about very specific shader features and direct x features being supported to even get the game to look right.

Just a bit interesting how times change. They definitely should have worked with intel a bit to get it to work, at least given them a copy with some time for them to work out their drivers to support it.

It Mako me angry. There’s enough there I think it would be nice to have a little rover that could go like 30 mph and haul your loot.

SenorBolsa, do gaming w What's the funniest game you've played?
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

If you liked that it’s based on a browser game called Kingdom of Loathing, the gameplay is not as tight or refined but there’s plenty to do and it’s pretty enjoyable to play when you have some time to kill on a work pc lol.

RPGs almost always need a little hint on what’s actually useful, this game doesn’t have respecting AFAIK and is obviously quite long.

SenorBolsa, do gaming w Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun?
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

Need for Speed Unbound.

The stakes are just too high and the limit on time and funds you can safely earn just makes it feel stressful when it should be fun.

I can get the appeal of the risk/reward but it crosses the line from exciting and tense to anxiety inducing for me.

On top of that the game was kind of unstable on release and if you crashed it counted as losing the race and your wager etc and you cannot load an earlier save or anything, if that was the case the whole game would actually be decent apart from the lack of event variety.

It took me about 14 hours in to reveal a major game mechanic that Bethesda didn’t even mention. it’s wild how big this game is I did some goofing around and side stuff but not that much.

I recall it boggling my mind that GTAIV was 15GB (two dual layer DVDs basically) now I have copies of movies that large kicking around on my NAS.

SenorBolsa, do gaming w Switch 2 - launch games?
@SenorBolsa@beehaw.org avatar

It’s gonna be like the wii U where they just release updated versions of those games to start, not the worst move TBH

Just being more powerful will allow it to run a lot of games at their full res and target framerate more consistently.
