Would still get a 1k steamdeck over a 600€ still overpriced switch 2 with 80€ rereleased crap. With vulnerabilities found in the first week of launch.

Toe to Toe? At least the steamdeck can run Crysis. Switch not, easy Steamdeck win.

Performance upgrade on a already locked on 60fps ( some 30 ) games? on default on a LCD display? That they didnt even considered default on OLED display is just … cash grabby.

If i am honest i dont have any games that DONT run on. It can run cyberpunk, baldurs gate, a lot other AAA / Indie games.

If it doesnt run, the devs did something SPECIAL to f*ck steamdeck / linux users.

The suspend game feature is probably the biggest player, especially when its idle it doesnt use any power ( except of course the common battery drain ) in comparison to windows “sleep” it just blacks out the screen and maybe run a little less background tasks.

I did that with the steamdeck dock its pretty awesome that it can run a higher resolution secondary screen with full hd and game on the side.

80€ is crazy nintendont games are just crazy priced and have fun getting one second hand games if nintendo allows it. 80€ for a AA game is much and a scam for a re released game because of a new poatform even tho old switch games should work.

Most of the time physically, it is just a code to activate it on steam.

On PC the pirates says, what you can do with it. On the console the company says if you own this movie/game you BOUGHT or not. ( See the Playstation movie “incident” where Sony removed many movies some people BOUGHT, but at least the backlash made Sone reconsider the BS they wanted to pull of. )

P.S. Yeah, yeah i know. “It iSnT BuYiNg YoU OnLy PuRchAsE a LiCenSe tO ThE PrOdUcT” But still its such b.s. that you declare it as BUYING instead of RENTING, Sony have them on their neck of the console gamers, because piracy or third party stores are not existing so they can pull of those stunts.

Just on install, the legal stuff you need to accept is just creepy af. Next time i will get a AMD graphics card, it has a lot more open drivers ( especially because i am a linux user )

The PS5 is just a PS4 with new design and a bit better performance. No Exclusives because the developers know, that on pc they can just plug in a controller and have the same feeling ( And even on a handheld, aka Steamdeck… ). My recommendation:

A handheld PC ( SteamDeck ( my favourite ) or the ROG Ally )

Differences:

Steamdeck: 2 Trackpads are really great! You can easily work with games that are mouse heavy. ( I use it for shooter games ) Fully customizable buttons ( literally everything, with even sub menus, alternative modes, community layouts etc… ) Joysticks are on the same height. Linux, less overhead and longer gaming sessions. ( You can tinker more on linux than on windows, but valve did a great job on not locking you in so you can easily install any OS that runs steam ;D ) Repairability is the best! ( Valve has a cooperation with IFixit with replacement parts ) Upgradeability is easy ( For example bigger storage, better thumbsticks ) They hear to the community of gamers and repairers. Pausing games is so easy ( Just press the power button and it saves the game where it is and saves power ) Its back again in under 5 seconds.

( Just to note those “Gamepass” Games can be easily installed if you just install windows on the steam deck if you want it )

ROG Ally: No trackpad ( so only controller optimized games ) Windows ( A lot of overhead but best compatibility with games. ) ROGs software is sometimes a bit clunky but usable. Joysticks are not on the same height. You can plug a external GPU with a proprietary plug. ( Literally a GPU in a box with some extra costs, but it improves performance on some gpu intensive games )

Its really great! really good display, good battery, good customizability and freedom. It is even pretty cheap for the steam decks performance.

Steamdeck is for me everything even new ones like Armored Core, Cyberpunk etc… and indies and even old ones like half life. Everything possible through proton.
