I’d say it’s inevitable. With Anbernic (arguably the bigger name of them all) saying no more, I’d say they’ll all halt them sooner rather than later.

No problem for those of us in Europe or…anywhere else in the world, but I’m sad for those stuck in America (well, those who voted for a different leader anyway) who have to suffer.

I’m scared to admit I haven’t ever played New Vegas!

I’ve spent a terrifying amount of time in 4, and even the first two on PC, but…New Vegas is one of my ‘one day’ games!

I found Dave the Diver to be…well a mixed bag. It was so pretty and fun in the first few hours - I live for summer and I’m 100% a beachgirl but then they just threw everything in - hospitality management, farm-y bits, fetch quests. The one section I found super fun (diving) got to be the one I spent the least amount of time in. And then they make what time you do spend down there a scramble to get the bits you need most.

Still, it’s a lovely game.

Between that and DREDGE (in my top 3 Steam Deck games ever) - because they’re both aquatic - DREDGE gets all my votes.

And OMG CONTROL!!! I adore it. The brutalist architecture is sublime, and so is the atmosphere. It really does feel like a beautiful mix of David Lynch, Stephen King and X-Files. I love Remedy, they’re a dev company who keeps on delivering in my eyes :)

…and it’s the second time they’ve done this silly DLC which is limited (though, to be fair Godzilla wasn’t a paid one)

Keep your eye on it, I’d say on steep-steep discount it’s a fun game, but to me the opening of the game can’t ever be matched. It tries to be too many things instead of being great at just one

The irony is that I am a vegetarian who avoids hunting in games (RDR2 for example) but somehow Dave the Diver had me swimming around with a speargun like a mad girl.

That fact still sits uneasily on my shoulders!

KCD II is one of the few games I bought on Steam, because I just couldn’t wait to play it. I then installed a ton of mods, and now I have it on GOG I just have to start it all again!

My thoughts on the Switch 2 are…contradictory. I like what they’re doing, but it feels iterative. I love my Switch because it is so small and cute, but it makes sense that a bigger screen (and joy-cons for ergonomics?) is better for a gamer. Worst is Nintendo doing Nintendo things and being a bit too predatory for my liking! From what I can see…it’s better to get an OLED and get a chip installed (CFW is soooooo nice to customize everything!). At least until maybe some sales on hardware happen? IDK.

Please let me know what you think of Death Stranding! I love to hear people’s thoughts. It can be so polarizing.

I think they might have finally beaten their Nintendo curse though: one console is a huge success, the next is a fair failure. The Switch 2 will be a winner, but there’s no way it can be the same cultural phenomenon that the first was (I’d say)

I got to the System Shock games after Prey (2017), not only am I WAY too young to have been around for them, but it just kinda went past me. But after that spiritual successor I visited the System Shock games, and I love them!

I’m hoping the SS2 is good, because I loved what they did with the first! It’s never meant to be a remake, just a polish of the game itself.

I’ve had them all!

I had an original V1 which I had the jig/payload method for, and I’ve had a couple of OLEDs which I micro-soldered the chips onto. But after selling all mine off long ago (I preferred to emulate the games on my Steam Deck after getting it!), I picked up a cheap V2 and chipped it, too!

I love themezer (choosing themes are like a daily fun thing for me to do!)

I’m unsure, but the last game on the blacklist for your country for giveaway was F1 Manager 20X (the ‘X’ means I can’t remember its year…2024? 2023?) - really recently. And then 6 days afterwards it was offered for claiming in Australia (edit: AND Brazil, by memory. This was maybe 3 weeks ago?).

So…there’s a snowball chance in Hell that maybe it still will? Maybe?

Yeah, its an odd thing. In the last one of these I posted a user said they raised the issue with the Dev, so a fix on this is being pushed out.

Weirdly through Thunder or Jerboa or the webpage its snappy and no lag though. So seems specific to Boost :)

The great disappointment of the Miyoo family has been the Flips! Even the new V2 version looks to be a bit of a mess, though as always with these - YMMV!

I adore my Miyoo, every time I look at alternatives I just can’t bring myself to replace it!

Its an over estimation of my posts’ worth (I see quite regular down votes), but I like that this is where you’d find my posts.

I wasn’t ever much of a fan of achievements, but the last, idk 6 months or so I have been so invested in them. Its nice to check my profile on GOG and see my play-time and achievements logged :)

Comet does all I need to, but I am also looking forward to the upcoming overlay!

The Switch can be a hard one to say. If you get the last release (the ‘Early Access’) of Yuzu, and you use the GreemDev build of Ryujinx he maintains now (he was a Dev of Ryujinx proper, before it closed shop) - then you’ll be totally fine.

Even tricky games such as ToTK have dedicated mod packs like this one known as the optimizer (which is which greatly improve performance, heck I even wrote my own mods to make it play well.

I had a vast Switch collection before my Steam Deck, which I then sold because I emulated it all on the Deck so well.

Then you’ll find titles like BoTW which play far, far better through Cemu. Cemu emulates Wii U games, and Breath of The Wild on the Steam Deck is perfection - high FPS, higher resultion, mods, you can even tweak how much or how little cell shading you have, or fog on the landscape. It is the single best way to play BoTW.

In the end, I’d recommend a Steam Deck. You get:

• your Steam library
• GOG, Epic and Amazon titles through Heroic or Junk Store
• emulating every system through RetroDECK, with fun things like Retro Achievements, mods, texture packs etc

My biggest two issues I’ve found on specific Switch games has been Tears, which doesn’t run perfectly (but is playable) and Metroid Prime Remaster (there is a literally fraction split-second load time at each door)

Drat! I had users complain last time about Boost. It has to be the amount of images / GIF inclusion I have in these, but using Thunder and Jerboa, I see zero slow-down, so it has to be specific to Boost!

Sadly the price of Japanese consoles went up a heap over Covid, though you can still get some amazing deals with proxy bidding and buying services, if you take your time!

I haven’t ever been too picky with FPS when playing on the Steam Deck, so I’m not the best to ask. They have optimized it far more than the first KCD. And to me? It ran beautifully.

I had zero issues with it.

Its a tough one! I tried twice before it made me head over heels. Just…take your time, the whole first gigantic area (to me) is like the tutorial area, just get through those cut scenes and then you’re really on your own.

Try soak in the atmosphere, but do remember it’s not for everyone!

I really, really love the game now. It actually takes my breath away. Heck it even inspired me to get Death Stranding items (I’m loathe to use the word ‘merch’) from Japan. And let me know what you think of it! I’m super interested how you find it :)

Keep on claiming those free games! Its my fav deal in gaming now - for the cost of a Prime subscription you get a whole bunch of games, each week! A lot of quality GOG games, alongside Epic and Amazon’s own.

You can’t lose by claiming them, each month suprieses me with how much I get for an add-on to a subscription I already use :)

And, I think everyone here - especially on Lemmy - understand that feeling of things becoming ‘too much’ lately. Heck, I just ran away to Rome to drink coffee, play chess and avoid real life because it all feels a bit much right now. So I understand completely!!!

I think I found KCD II easier to sink into than the first. The first one I played maybe 10 hours of and kinda walked away. I told myself it was too open-ended. Maybe I need a little structure to my games to make me feel less overwhelmed?

That turned out to be obvious nonsense though, since the second is even more open-ended and I just love it. Like I said though, I really found I needed mods to make it less like ‘work’. But I know I am in the minority because it’s not as the developers wanted it to be.

I’m…waiting for more before I can really form an opinion on Perfect Dark. I adore how it kinda feels like a loose spiritual successor to Deus Ex, if that makes sense? I’m hoping it stays true to what the original was. Weirdly I feel like Selaco gave me similar feelings of ‘high-tech-corpo-espionage/action’ that Perfect Dark once did, though it’s a completely different game.
